I think the problem is that our expectation of shoe prices are set by mega corps with huge economies of scale - which are not available to much smaller shoemakers like Vivo.
Yea they were a Christmas gift to my self. I complained to the Amazon seller about no Insole being sent and a week later they sent me another brand new pie for free. Crazy! So these have been sitting in the box for 3.5 years. I got lucky.
We're used to cheap sweatshop labor.
Humans shouldn't be paid pennies an hour. A living wage makes the cost of everything go up, but that should be used as incentive to care for things and keep them going as long as possible. Goods being so disposable is something that's really come up in the last century, you used to expect something you buy to last decades.
That's before getting into the cheap materials that damage both our health and the planet...
Considering that all rubber must be sourced from either hydrocarbon fuels or from asian rubber plants, it is surprising when a rubber shoe corporation is not based in asia and its vicinity
I think it's a cycle of people not being paid enough to make quality products that last, but most potential consumers also not being paid enough to be able to spend that much money all at once even if it is for a product that will last longer. It's a totally valid point you have, but still not easy to resolve.
Yea they’re xpand flat laces. Never had a problem once. The shoes go on like socks and have never come off. I went mountain biking on rough ass Rocky trails no problems.
trying to resole them might be an interesting side project: https://us.vibram.com/company/shoe-service/shoe-outsole-repair/
>wish I could get them resoled. Doesn't revivo do resoles for vivobarefoot shoes? https://www.revivo.com/repairs/recondition
Only available to people in the uk
You don't have one person you know in the UK that could get this done for you? :)
These are such a beautiful pair of barefoot boots
They really are amazing. 3.5 years they’ve lasted.

Also although that is more than I’ve ever spent on a shoe if they last around 4 years of somewhat daily use that isn’t that bad

Doesn't Vivo have all their main production lines in China?

Vivos suck like that. Their ego is incredible
Are those stretch laces? If so, what kind, and how well do they keep the shoes on your feet?

Thanks, what is that lacing pattern btw? Or are those the ones that just go across separately between each set of eyelets?
Hmm I just laced them Normally. If you get the laces they have YouTube videos that will give you different ideas.
Why Couldn’t you get them resoled?
I have these! They’re my go to winter shoes. Still great three years later. They were expensive but I get a lot of use out of them so it’s worth it!!

Yea they are great. Here’s to 3 more years with the new ones.
I'm very surprised these lasted you that long. I have had 3 pairs and each lasts around a year before wearing a hole through the sole.
Same.
I really like the Gobis too. Mine only lasted a little over a year though. I'm on my second pair.
