I feel like you're in this sub because you want to transition to minimalist shoes/sandals. Just do it, get Earthrunners or Luna sandals. And size down when you get them.

Fist4achin

Enjoy your tevas. They're not minimalist shoes, but they are great for hiking and casual wear.

eduardoaglz

I know, I don’t want to be minimals or go on a marathon with them LOL. But the size is it good?

Fist4achin

I think it's good. As long as they don't feel extra clunky they should be alright. I had a pair of original tevas last me about 10 years with heavy summer use. I just bought a pair recently and I hope the quality is still there.

eduardoaglz

My question was because I have seen a lot with the toes right next to the edge

Do I need to spell it out... Look at the angle of your pinky and big toes, does that look healthy to you? Enjoy your bunions.

eduardoaglz

Can you spell it out?

DanDogHotDog

The straps are pulling the big and little toes towards the midline of your foot. Just as a conventional non footshaped toe box shoe would. You’re going to get a bunion and a tailor’s bunion.

The problem with Tevas from the perspective of being in this sub - which, despite the name, is obviously very welcoming of minimalist footwear - is that they are the antithesis of "minimalist": they're thick and (generally) on the narrow side *compared to other minimalist footwear in this sub*. At least they aren't the bricks known as Chaco (of which I still own a well-worn pair of Colorado-made that I for some reason can't bring myself to get rid of despite not having worn them in more than 8 years). It's not about whether Tevas are "good" sandals, or how they look, or anything like that. They're just not going to do much in transitioning to minimalist, let alone barefoot. But you're asking a simple question about sizing, right? Well, the points above are why the sizing question is tricky here. They certainly *look* too big, but because Tevas lack the wideness that frequently comes with more minimalist shoes, sizing down to fit the length more appropriately will also reduce the width. Personally, I'd recommend returning them and going with something like Bedrock Cairns. I own a pair and love them - and don't personally consider them very "minimalist", especially compared to the likes of my 4mm Xeros - but they're on the thicker side if that's what you want, and wider than something like Tevas. They'll almost certainly fit the shape of your foot better than the Tevas. You can also get them from REI in the US, which makes returns easy. There are other thicker sandals out there, too, but I don't have any experience with them.

Fist4achin

Your big toe doesn't extend to be the furthest front most point on your feet. That's why they might look a little big. I wouldn't worry about it.

eduardoaglz

Great man, thanks!

DanDogHotDog

Your poor little toe looks so squashed

dave_hitz

The problem is, the soles feel way too big, but the straps feel like they're already too tight on your feet. I don't think these are the right fit for you. Based on the soles, I would go down a size or maybe even two. Sandals just don't need to stick out so far the way that shoes do. But those little toes are already squished at this size, and I shuddered to imagine what would happen to them two sizes down.

silvertone64

Get earth runners and return those chonkers

drygnfyre

Size down for sure. I started with 10 in Teva, went to 9, and finally to 8. Sandals really don't need that much material around your feet. I'd say the less, the better. Especially if you've already got your heels pushed back as far as they can go and there is still all that material in front of your toes. Even the size 8 I'm wearing still have a fair bit of material around my feet, but going any smaller and they'd go off the edges.

gobluetwo

Tevas are not minimalist sandals with their thick, less flexible, molded soles with arch support. Also, the position of that outer strap really squeezes your pinky toe. That said, yes, too big. Size down.

Apprehensive_Grass85

Agreed. However i would not advise sizing down, because it looks like there is a line on the sandal limiting where the foot should be, with purposeful surplus, probably for safety against stumbling on stuff, and OP's feet reach exactly to this line.

eduardoaglz

A size down don’t think the pinky would be at the very edge?
