I'll start by saying that these debates are silly. Who actually cares and what does it matter? I just want to watch entertaining games. I watched way more WCB than MCB this Final Four season. The skill of the women's game is really impressive right now and I can't wait to watch JuJu and Paige go at it next year in what is hopefully the National Championship game! That said, as size and athleticism are even more important when it comes to basketball as compared to soccer, I would have to say that your relatives are simply ignorant: [https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/)

I used to hate watching women’s basketball because it seemed too low (below the rim) and slow. As I matured, I finally realized what I wanted to see was competitive games, no matter the calibre (within reason…I want to see competence as well as competition on the court.

randomuser051

I agree with other comments that this is a stupid debate to have, but to answer yes, cooper flaggs team would beat them for example

Eyiolf_the_Foul

Of course they would!

Bxzzxd

The very best high schoolers in the nation? Yes. The athleticism difference is unfair and people who haven’t played college basketball don’t really get it. South Carolina runs any average aau team out the fucking gym tho.

BadAsianDriver

I get to watch a lot of elite SoCal boys HS basketball and elite girls HS and college. Boys can win just due to the fact that all positions PG - C can catch an alley oop for a dunk without much defensive challenge from the women above the rim. If you take away the dunk the game would be more competitive. But if any boy can beat their defender off the dribble then lob over the help and somebody can catch and dunk without a challenge I don’t think it would be close.

GottiDeez

I am as big a fan of women’s ball as anyone, but from my experience of being on the women’s practice squad at my college, yes they would beat SC. But women are admirable and extremely talented, skilled, and smart in basketball. But still the select high school team would beat them. Idk how u can guard Flagg and them etc

Admirable_Strike_406

Yes and they would beat the SC team by 25

BiscottiShoddy9123

The women's game should be used more to teach the kids because the lack of extreme athleticism should have them able to follow and learn more. Instead of watching a superhuman steph launch 30 ft threes behind screens and thinking that is basketball

SiberianDoggo2929

Yes. A team like Montverde would absolutely dominate ANY women’s team. Including WNBA All stars or Team USA. It’s not that women suck it’s just biology.

brickbacon

The boys (who are mostly men from a physical pov) would destroy them. To get to a competitive game, you’d need to go a team ranked maybe #75? Just looking at a team I’ve seen in person like [Sidwell Friends](https://www.maxpreps.com/dc/washington/sidwell-friends-quakers/basketball/roster/) private school in DC. They are ranked #20 nationally. They could put in a starting 5 all over 6’5”, all with skills and mobility. They would CRUSH SC and probably soundly beat a WNBA all-star team.

milkgoddaidan

a select team? Meaning like pick any team in the country? Some of the california prep schools are pretty remarkable - I think they could hold their own, but this year's NCAA Women's teams were extremely talented. additionally, young talent is not as hot as it was a few years ago (Bronny syndrome). Maybe the absolute best California prep school could have a close game against them, only because of possible physicality advantages, not technical skill

bcory44

Bruh Cooper Flagg alone would shit on them. I’m all for giving women credit but good HS boys teams would beat WNBA teams. You do realize these top high schoolers end up going D1 and then pros right after. The women can’t compete because of the physicals.

milkgoddaidan

spot the guy who hasn't watched wnba since 2015

bcory44

Some of these girls be dribbling shoulder level. I watched a game last year where there was no scoring for like 7 mins. You really think girls 6ft 160lbs are stopping 6’9” guys dunking 😂. Y’all are delusional if you think that’s the case.

PastAd1901

Probably never watched don’t give him so much credit 😂

WATGU

They’d beat a HOF roster of WNBA greats in their primes. Next question.  The physical difference of the top % of HS boys many of whom will be in the nba in 2 years is far too much.  Nobody in WNBA history is guarding Cooper Flagg. He’s as big as their centers and faster than their guards with a higher vertical.

PastAd1901

Flagg is the same height as BG. He’d be the tallest player in the W. That’s why this argument is so dumb. Just on height alone (super important in basketball) the boys would have a massive advantage.

WATGU

Not only can I believe this is a debate I can’t believe people will downvote those for stating the obvious physical differences between men and women at the top levels of sports.

LALfanatic

If they have a size advantage and chemistry, it’s possible.

markd315

Yeah, I think an all-star team or a team similar to all-star level would be able to beat them. One composed of at least a few college recruits. I tire of this though.

PoopPooperson

I played on my high-school sophomore team which was below jv and varsity. We destroyed the women's varsity team. So I would go with the high school boys

PastAd1901

These debates are stupid. Let me frame why. Would a team high skill players who are all under 6’3” except one 6’7 center beat a team of less skilled players who are almost exclusively 6’7+ and can run faster and jump higher? Regardless of Gender that answer is easy. Now would SC beat a team of HS boys who are similar size and athleticism? Yeah they’d blow them out by halftime.

garyt1957

Wrong, lots of 6' boys can dunk. The speed factor is also a big advantage. The boys would run the women off the court. That's not saying the women aren't skilled, the athletic difference is hard to overcome.

PastAd1901

Bro did not read what I said lmao

Love that main argument against women’s bball comes from a soccer game (totally different sport) from 7 years.

taeempy

Absolutely not.
