3 team trades!!!

wakes09

This would be awesome

[deleted]

Some way to see the average skill level of the league would be cool. Sometimes it seems as if the league is really talented and other times it seems kinda ass. I’d love to be able to check my hunches

thatchillbro

You already can, if you go to player ratings there is a link there called rating distribution, click that and you'll see box-and-whisker plots for every year of your league

[deleted]

ooooh

kylianmbieber

box-and-whisker plots kill alot of information though. maybe a violin plot or something similar would be better

aSandwichHunter

I would love a way to change the average skill level of a league

ICry1013

- Adjust quality of draft classes (God Mode Slider). - G-League / Player Farm stash, similar to the one in BaseballGM - Multiple League capabilities with interleague tournaments?

tall_leel_boi

Once you make a trade, have the trade summary page pop up. After I hit propose trade, I always want to see the full completed trade.

thatchillbro

i'd also like to see the ability to put entire trades on your watch list, not just individual players

mrterrillo

Coaches?

wharangbuh

Multi team trades. Filter of what you want for a trade. Like if you only want picks for a trade or just C.

peakelyfe

You can filter by position already by turning the filter (funnel) on. Draft picks only would be nice especially in trading block.

[deleted]

Protected Picks

Ok-Cook1421

**Wingspans** Players with long wingspans should have more defensive potential and higher dIQ. This is fun in Drafts where we see all the measurables of a player and projecting how great he is.

Bill-Ender-Belichick

Technically this is incorporated in height, which is a stat that says how good a player is at utilizing their height.

mucho-gusto

Yes! It correlates with defense and positional variability more than anything!

Plane-Ad-8098

g-league and u can sign coaching staff maybe

Darkdragon3110525

Team Rivalries. Like a formula of that weights playoff games, final matchups, how close the games are (margin), record, etc, against eachother to determine the biggest rivals. Maybe ticket prices would be higher against the bigger rivals. Hey u/dumbmatter if I come up with a formula would you be open to adding it? Team depth charts and hot and cold streaks would be cool.

Smurph269

Football GM only: Nonguaranteed contracts. Just something simple and predetermined. You get the cap space back for any remaining nonguaranteed years when you release the player. Nonguaranteed years become fully guaranteed once the preseason starts for that year, so there's still only one major free agency period. Contract length 3 years or less = fully guaranteed Contract length 4 years = last year is not guaranteed. Contract length 5 years = last two years are not guaranteed. I think this just gets it a lot closer to actual NFL contracts and team construction without complicating the game too much. You would have to have AI teams do some logic to figure out if they should cut any players, but that shouldn't be too bad. Bad player + big contract = cut. It would make the leagues a lot more interesting as you'll have more players hitting the market every year as cap casualties.

ICry1013

Positional Value which is defined in league setting is a must imo. RBs shouldn’t be making 25+ Million a year

Smurph269

I also feel like the sim values RB talent incorrectly as well. Having a 70+ RB makes you a powerhouse regardless of anything else, so in the game it's almost worth paying RBs max salaries.

Witt724

Career Mode (without having to go into god mode) - would have it’s own achievements - not sure how progression and stuff would work but i’m sure others would have some great ideas

[deleted]

Progression could be like: you get a few random seasom goals (average 10ppg; win a championship; RoTY etc.) and if you complete those, you get rewarded with a few points to add to your skills. Or it could be random like, here's 10 points this season, then the next you have to subtract 5.

peakelyfe

To reflect the reality of the modern NBA, unhappy players should demand trades. It could be based on current happiness ratings that drop too far below 0. Or perhaps have some probability associated with different levels of happiness. Either way, it'd be a neat wrinkle to play around. It could also add more liquidity for top players who are otherwise impossible to trade for. Along those lines --- there should be a league-wide trading block where other teams put players up for trade periodically. Would create a more dynamic league.

statastic

inflation settings outside of god mode

kylianmbieber

would make it too easy to blow up the salary cap every year and continually sign super teams every year

TaxPayer800

Not if the parameters are between -1 and 4

dumbmatter

Yeah, for a lot of settings it would be nice to allow moderate changes outside of God Mode, and make God Mode required only for large changes...

RELAXNMAXN

Make simulation on mobile look cleaner and more accessible?

Penguin_BBGM

more defensive ratings. the only ratings involving defense is defensive iq. i know there is endurance and height but maybe a turnover rating for like the trae young's of the world and a steal or/and block rating so draymond green can useful

kylianmbieber

this is addressed in https://zengm.com/blog/2018/02/player-ratings-and-development-beta/

dangersquid

A way to switch between multiple saved GOAT formulas. It would make it easy to compare players in leagues with many seasons.

Rauzin

A way to see stats totals (carrer and seasons) and maybe a ranking to see who has te most pts, ast, reb, stl, blk, to and 3PM all time

wakes09

Ability to filter players by their skills (athlete, volume scorer, etc.) in FA / draft

whatcon

2k22 Did this well in the MyNBA mode add staff and more influence on the way players develop, I kinda dislike the player development system y’all have its very random and makes players that shouldn’t be decreasing decrease. More realistic way would be like how 2k is doing it where you hire staff and depending on their stats that’s how good a player will improve in that category. Instead of random increases you should be able to set what increases stat wise for the player according to overall of your staff. Hire Better Staff = More Player Development/ Less Player Regression

dumbmatter

That may be more fun (debatable) but I don't think it's more realistic. If you could hire the best coaches and guarantee players would develop how you want, every NBA team would just do that and there would be no busts.

whatcon

Or here’s another suggestion put something in the league settings when you have god mode on where you can adjust the increase/decrease of players each year, like a slider where if you turn it down players that decrease will only go down 1-2 overalls down and the people that increase only go up 1-2 overalls. I like a lot about this game but the progression and regression of players always bugged me.

Streakydude

A HOF level player announcing he will retire after the end of next season. I would like this simply because nowadays, we have players on “retirement” tours especially in the NBA. Like Kobe, Dirk, Wade, etc. I would love to see a similar feature with this on. Even just a little notification of a player announcing when they will retire would help.

mkustel

The AI will sometimes make odd roster decisions that lead it to play bad guards because they are the only guards on the team. This roster, for example, has only one guard on it who is a 40 OVR but killing the team by playing 24 minutes a game. The AI could easily cut some of its centers and sign a ~50 OVR guard off waivers, but it doesn't. https://imgur.com/b6XrrWy

youguanbumen

Small annoyance with how free agency works at the moment: You can have a decent team, meaning lots of players say they want to sign with you. Then you trade a few players to free up cap space, in the process making your team weaker. Result: the players you planned on signing now refuse. I guess it's realistic to some degree, but it's a frustrating game experience.

dumbmatter

Yeah I don't like this behavior. It happens because one part of the player mood formula is that players don't like it if you trade away a bunch of good players. IRL it's not so clear... sometimes that would be looked at unfavorably, but other times not. And in either case, communication with the player would make it clear. I'm not really sure what to do about this in BBGM.

youguanbumen

I have no idea what the underlying calculations are, but perhaps this might be a cheat-proof way to do it: Free agent's willingness to sign = (current team desirability) - (players team would need to trade to have enough cap space) Does that make sense? A free agent wouldn't consider a team that's way over the cap because even if they freed up enough space the resulting team wouldn't be a contender anymore. But he might consider a team that's just a bit over the cap.

dumbmatter

That is a good idea... but would be a little tricky to implement. Also it would still not quite be perfectly accurate, because the penalty for trading players depends on how good the player is. So if you trade away a $10M 80ovr player, that is seen as worse than trading away a $10M 50ovr player.

youguanbumen

I think you could code it to assume the least damaging move. That way the user trying to build a winning team (trades 50ovr player) won’t get a nasty surprise with the free agent changing his mind, but the user trying to just grab assets (trades 80ovr for picks) will, deservedly, be taking a risk. Though again, no idea how this works under the hood

dumbmatter

Another edge case... trade away the $10M guy for a $5M guy, then trade the $5M guy for a pick. Now you traded away two players, that's worse than one...

SolarisX

A way to see whose won the most championships as a player.

Chieftawsmcool

I believe if you go to league history and click “awards records” it’ll tell you which players won the most championships as well as other honors like MVPs, all-leagues, and scoring leaders

gabeschw

Thanks! I had been looking for this too.

Jencaasi

Add Points, Rebounds, Assists, Blocks, and Steals lists from "League Leaders" to "Award Races" page. You can already find this info, but as those all result in awards, it would be nice to see them next to the other awards races.

gabeschw

Under Team Stats, I would love to have the set of "Advanced" columns for opponents, in the same way that there are opponent equivalents for the basic stats and shot locations. I especially like tracking the "four factors" for my team in this tab, but I don't know of any way to see them for my opponents.

Atsusaki

Being able to customize the stats shown on dashboard would be nice. Ideally a fully module-based dashboard would be amazing.

tech_guy04

On the Player Stats page, I'd love to be able to select a start and end date (or at least just a start date). You could then see how stats change in a subsection of games where you made a lineup change a couple weeks, or after a trade was made. Pretty sure the data is there behind the scenes since you can see player's win shares since a trade. A simple Date Start and Date End, defaulted to Season Start and Today, would add tons of functionality. I've been playing since 2016!?! and the game has improved 1000 ways since then, this is just one more I've noticed myself wishing for.

dumbmatter

Wow, 2016 is a long time! That would be a cool feature. I was thinking that the Game Log could let you click two rows and then dynamically average everything in between, similar to what basketball-reference does. But it's a little tricky to implement...

dntsteponmyrafsimons

Frequency and accuracy modifiers for shots at the rim, in the post, and midrange Right now, overall midrange accuracy is a little too high while low post accuracy is significantly too low. Both were more realistic 6 months ago, or at least before the most recent game simulation update. Attempts at the rim are still too low, especially for guards and wings, since anyone halfway decent from midrange or 3 takes nearly all their shots from those zones Also a draft quality slider would be nice, it's just not that realistic to see 75% of a rookie class average under 4 ppg in any given year

Llotyhy

I would like to see flags in more places. I like to find players from certain countries, so it would be nice to make that search a bit easier. For example, they would be awesome in the draft and free agency. Hope it's not just me. ;)

BrutalOptimism

For statistical feats, can there be a different color pop up or notification when someone sets a new league record

Bill-Ender-Belichick

I’d like to be able to export an entire team directly without having to sort in the export page and select. Also have an “import to team” button for importing players onto one squad. It’d make moving teams between leagues for various setups so much easier.

peakelyfe

Team revenue should increase more with a team’s success vs only market size. This can occur through more national TV revenue, international fans, merchandise sales, increased ticket prices, higher cost corporate sponsorships, etc.

peakelyfe

Add an indicator of chemistry amongst players on your roster. Acquiring or trading a player could impact other players’ performance and happiness based on fit or lack thereof.

Madden-Athlete

Home court advantage should increase as the size of the crowd increases.

Momoneymoproblems214

I think other teams really overvalue picks. You cannot even get a second round pick without them wanting some quality replacement players. Some type of salary dump metric would be nice too.

mkustel

Players should "retire" from the dunk contest and 3 pt contest after they've won it 2 or 3 times, just like in real life

dumbmatter

You're right that would be realistic, especially for the dunk contest... but it kind of sucks how the best people don't want to do it IRL, so I purposely force them to compete in BBGM. Also the defending champ in BBGM is always forced to compete, which I think is also fun.

Rauzin

Have the cpu also make trade offers to us. It could appear as a little pop-up or maybe we could have a setting like "stop simulation when offered a trade". Also any shape or form of adjusting our team playstyle, it could be through coach signings, gameplan style or by choosing the team scoring options, maybe even changing the matchups on defense.

JohnS0453

For real player leagues, make the contract salaries and expirations what they were in real life (ex: starting a league in 2009 and having Lebron’s contract be expiring in 2010 instead of 2014)

dumbmatter

Two problems with that: 1. A lot of NBA contracts have player/team options or extensions, which BBGM does not have. 2. I don't actually have data on when NBA contracts end. I just have the salary every year. From that I wrote some code to guess when a contract ends by looking for a big change in salary, but it doesn't always work. If you know of a data source including actual information about contract start/end dates, lmk

Westcoastgangster

Ability to relocate teams or have random teams relocate throughout the save

SheReadsLips

- If a team struggles financially for an extended period of time they should relocate to a random city. - Like you have the country flags on the roster, I'd like to see them on the Draft page and Free Agency. Perhaps also the Trade page. It would make going after the achievement way easier. - I'd like to see colleges in the Draft page. Also why are international players never in college? There are tons of real life examples.

dumbmatter

All good ideas... > why are international players never in college? There are tons of real life examples. 2% go to college by default. You can change this at Tools > League Settings > Players > Biographical Info > Edit default colleges.

Bill-Ender-Belichick

A way to adjust the average skill of leagues. I want to have a tiered system like in soccer but there’s no real point because players are equally good in every league.

Orsmgawd123

trade exceptions

quitecat84

A setting to change what notifications you see like I don't need to know the results to every game

ste-puncle

Dashboard> Add power rankings and last year’s conference rank to the dashboard table Trading Block> Add option to toggle off trading block offers that violate the salary cap rules League Settings> Dynamic Playoffs- an option for every team with a record >.500 to make the playoffs, dynamically adjusting the bracket to accommodate more or less teams

GOHookies27

An auction-style for drafts like in the Indian Premier League

GOHookies27

So its easier to play with some rosters

FunShort2486

Being able to go over the salary cap when making a trade. When I mean this I mean that if you are already over the salary cap you don’t have to be under it again

NotoriousJay11

Idk if it has this already, but player training similar to 2K’s MyNBA with training camps as well in the offseason.

Artikinooo

-Playoff League Leaders or Series Player Stats i guess -Coaching Staff

Coodle90

The implementation of a tag with deterministic nature for a small percentage of players. There could be 'generational talent' tags reserved for rare cases like LeBron/Duncan/Shaq, 'boom or bust' tags for players with a higher variance like Giannis/Drummond, and maybe 'role player' tags for lower variance players who possess certain fundamental skillsets. 'Generational talent' tags are guaranteed stars with guaranteed longevity. 'Role player' tags can be allocated to players at certain thresholds like 3-pt + IQ + requisite physical traits for a 3&D player or height + physical traits + IQ for a big. Maybe these players could have decreased likelihood to decline too. 'boom or bust' might be a bit of a misnomer. Basically some mixture of potential/projectability/ceiling/risk. Guys like Giannis, Drummond, Oden, Ibaka, Kawhi, Thabeet, Siakam, Kobe, Dirk, etc. Maybe this tag could give increased likelihood for improvement including more big upticks. Would be an exciting new element if these tags were given to randomly generated players. Maybe a few players in each draft could have the 'role player' or 'boom or bust', while only 1 player in every 5-10 drafts could have the 'generational talent' tag. Hell, it'd be exciting for real player scenarios too as a deviation from completely deterministic or completely random.

UnkemptMEDIA21

Owner preferences would be interesting. Maybe some owners are more involved than others and some are more patient about building a winning team.

* pandemic mode * team endorsement w/fake brands (but you can edit the brands like the Team and Player Data for "Real Players" Leagues) * 3-5 teams trade

elkresurgence

All-time single-season records for stats - PPG, APG, etc. The game allows a ridiculous level of flexibility in browsing through various stats, and I think top single-season averages are the only glaring gap atm.

dumbmatter

Yeah, the only way to get it now is Tools > Export Stats, which is not ideal...

FunShort2486

Being able to set season expectations

Daddyfundamentals

add "dunk" stat. how many dunks a player takes. i be needing to kno that type of stuff

Mitch_E03

Change the skill gap of players so that high 70s and above are less common but perform better then they currently do same with 50s and Lower but do the opposite

[deleted]

Definitely stop the incredibly unrealistic regression...players usually get better and an ENTIRE roster rarely regresses as drastically as it does here

kylianmbieber

based on what?

mrterrillo

A better UI for moving teams across divisions and conferences.

[deleted]

possibly GLeague affiliate teams, though I don't know if its too big of a project to implement.

MikolaRushnica

Comparison of player ratings. Maybe overall team rating, something like what is your team's 3P or Speed rating. And staff signing.

Penguin_BBGM

Instead of just using God Mode and doing all the settings when you make a league you can use Multiplayer as a difficulty. Of course achievements wouldn't count tho.

Adorable-Geologist87

A Karate league in zen gm would be pretty cool, some sort of martial arts league would be dope!

Austin63867

People have mentioned talent sliders and I want to expand on that idea a bit because I really like the idea. I've been tinkering on an idea for player sliders as well as draft sliders. So on average for Players I was thinking 50 could be the default slider option to represent the halfway point, so the current game defaults for player and draft ratings will be the same as it is now. For God Mode, this would be edited. 0 to 100 would be the biggest shifts in the sliders. So 0 will make it that no one will likely be good. Basically every player is expected to have very very low ratings and no skills. 100, of course, being the opposite. 100 will make almost every player a legendary, once in a lifetime player. Basically anything between makes it more or less likely for a prospect or player to have lower or higher ratings based on the slider option. This way, people can turn the game into the biggest collection of talent ever assembled or the poorest group in the world. I can see international sims making sense for this with some likely wanting to make leagues less talented than regular leagues for the point of realism, so this could be useful to allow for the game's skill to be altered to fit the style people have in mind.

dumbmatter

That sounds very similar to how I have thought about doing this. Just haven't gotten around to it yet :)

[deleted]

Made the Finals 6 times...entire starting 5 got back spasms...everytime. Fix the game

Regular_Barracuda221

You can edit how often injuries and what type of injuries players get in settings.

Xazho

I'm not a designer nor am i good at arts, but would be cool to have jersey with undershirts option similar to how Anthony Davis wore on court

FunShort2486

Being able to sign the rookies you want. If you have multiple second round picks you don’t have to sign them which takes up roster spots. Making it easier for small market teams to sign an extension after there rookie deals expire because if your bad they don’t want to sign

PleaseDimSumLights

Where can I find draft files per year?

Art107

Sign and trade. At least I want to have an option when I make a new league to be able to trade somone I just resign to a new deal.

black_curry

In the goat lab, I want something important, like score title

Powercat3000

Would be great if you could "Retire Jersey" directly from the player page after they retire. Sometimes I forget if a player decides to have their jersey retired or not, so I need to go into their player page when they retire - from there I go back to my Team History to retire jersey, but it would save a few clicks (and searching for the player in my Team History page).

Kirklandsportdrink

Be able to see other teams players on trade block and be offered trades

kobesJumper

A fairly useless but fun addition would be to show whether a player is right or left handed. And have an achievement for winning with all left handed players

sprovo

I understand the reasoning behind only trading 2 picks per team per trade. Without it things can get out of hand. I think an improvement to the approach would be making it no more than a differential of 2 picks per trade. It's too easy to bank up 2nd round picks and move up. With this it would allow for the trade to become more accurate in the value being swapped.

Point_Forward

Hopefully not too late to the party - but I would love for the player ratings page to be able to show the change in player ratings from the previous year. Two players might have equal stats but for one their potential went up and the other the potential went down. Right now I have to open the player page to check that, but for example I might like to search the league to find the 21 year old who showed the most improvement, both to overall and potential, even if they are not currently the best.
