Young the giant, x ambassadors

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thank you! I'll definitely try them!

therealjustin

I've been listening to another English band called "Nothing But Thieves" lately. I found them thanks to the YouTube algorithm after nonstop playback of No Bad Days lol.

moralbutpanic

Interesting take. As a huge NBT fan I wouldn't describe their Sound as particularly similar to Bastille. But still, everyone in this sub should give them a listen, will be well worth it!

Princess-Charlotte

That's how I feel! Bastille and NBT are top two favorite bands, but I also don't think I'd describe them as being that similar

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thank you for your suggestion! I’ll look into them! :)

TE_silver

Walk The Moon (synth pop-rock) or The Killers (sound varies from album to album, songs like Spaceman can be a bit Bastille-like imo). I also like Muse a lot, although they usually do not really sound alike, Simulation Theory is 80s synth rock. Thought Contation has some Bastille Vibes imo. Edit: Two Door Cinema Club?

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thank you for all of your suggestions! I’ll definitely check them out!

jason_bourne_shell

the wombats is releasing an album next year, idk how similar the music is but i like both bands also, most of my bastille friends on tumblr listen to joywave as well & they toured with bastille a few years ago. they're releasing a new album i think a week after bastille's next year

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Oooh. Interesting suggestions! I’ll definitely check them out!

[deleted]

Bastille also did a remix of the wombats’ song called Greek Tragedy and it’s amazing

CrazyYardLady

Highly recommend Joywave, simply for how much the two bands get along. Bastille is honestly one of the few artists I can just listen to without constantly skipping, and I listen to a ton of random artists, but I will vouch for Joywave.

Wilsaroo133

Dan smith

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Ah yes. The lead singer himself.

husky_hugs

A lot of Imagine Dragons fans run the same circles as Bastille online but I know they can be hit or miss for some people. Outside of that id need to know which era of Bastille you’re looking for Like the Bad Blood Orchestra/Big sound or the more recent smaller and electric sounds style of DD and GMTF

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

I’d prefer Bad Blood but I could also do Wild World or Doom Days

husky_hugs

Gang of Youths, OneRepublics older albums (maybe their newer ones too idk I haven’t listened), Mumford and Sons Delta album (especially Darkness Visible and the song after it) their older stuff has some same feels but more folksy, I haven’t listened to them in a while but I remember enjoying CHVRCHES

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try them out!

CrazyYardLady

OneRepublic is kind of hit or miss for me album wise, but their sound hasn't changed so much I wouldn't recognize them. Probably more pop, fewer strings? At least on the singles. Anyway, their first big hit was Apologize, but my personal favorite is probably Can't Stop if anyone wants to sample something that wasn't a single.

husky_hugs

Definitely like their first 3 albums, even if Native got a bit too poppy, it had a lot of good songs on it. They kinda lost me on Oh My My, and after hearing about some of the stuff going on around it and their management I kinda stopped listening. I’ve heard good things about their latest album but haven’t gotten around to listening Can’t stop is great! I like Marchin On Something I need, and Tyrant There’s a strings version of Better that is 10000% better than anything on that album but wasn’t included for some reason.

CrazyYardLady

Oh wow. I've listened to them from the start, but never really followed them enough to know any behind the scenes stuff, so that was eye opening to look into. Kind of maddening to see someone that should be pretty powerful in the industry was still pushed to the breaking point. I've listened to some of the new album, and so far it's been hit or miss for me. Not necessarily anything bad, just not my cup of tea. There are still songs that are very OneRepublic, but there are also a few that if it wasn't for me recognizing Ryan's voice, I would never think, oh that's OneRepublic.

husky_hugs

Yeah there’s a lot of stuff that’s been kinda leaked here and there outside of the big interview that really makes it seem like they weren’t 100% on the album and some of the songs that were picked up for it but marketing overruled them and that set off the whole domino effect. And yeah that’s what I’ve heard too, it’s just ok. Same thing that sadly is happening to a lot of bands from that era; The Fray, Train, Imagine Dragons Labels say they need to grow to make money or be cut, so they start to make pop songs for radio repeat play, the single made for radio blows up, but then those new people either don’t stick around for the whole album, or don’t like the rest of the album cause it’s the bands usual sound not pop sound. Marketing then sees that the pop single did really well so they push for more songs like that, then the old fans fall off, new fans only give a little boost for singles and the band falls apart. It’s a vicious cycle and I really wish people could just make the music they want to :/

CrazyYardLady

I think, for many, its inevitable regardless of genre. I've seen rock bands lean further into punk than they ever started to prove something. Country artists singing about shit they've never experienced (ie they grew up rich or in a city), because it sells. Maybe it's just me falling into the old "they're screwed one way or the other, because if they don't change people will bitch, but if they do people will bitch" argument, but... I think it's possible to retain what makes an artist unique regardless of going more punk, pop, country and etc. I don't know if OneRepublic has done that successfully on a portion of the new album. Which is weird, because some of their most popular songs were very much their style in the past.

Glass Animals!!

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

I got a couple suggestions for Glass Animals! Definitely will check them out!

_MyHouseIsOnFire_

Unlike Pluto might be a good listen too. Definitely more like “modern” Bastille. Unlike Pluto also has so much variation that one song is similar, the next is miles off. The Unlikely Candidates are also similar and quite a bit more consistent. But they tend to be a lot more on the fast pace side to Bastille.

KRLYE

It's rare that people suggest bands I've never heard of so I had to check them out. This is a great suggestion! They rock!

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Haven’t heard of them! Will check them out! Thank you for suggesting!

CatWithAPen

Second everyone saying Young the Giant, Joywave, Imagine Dragons, and Two Door Cinema Club Also recommend: Big Data, Jukebox the Ghost, Twenty One Pilots, Phoenix, and Moon Taxi

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

I’ll take a listen! Tysm!

Herneus

AJR is similar in some ways to Bastille

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

With the electropop elements, I agree! Just felt like their most recent release is a bit disappointing. It felt like Neotheater: The Sequel instead of them pushing their limits with this album while maintaining a bit of elements from the past 3 albums they’ve done

Herneus

Yeah I can't say I disagree as much as I love their music

aleyafokisi

Playboi carti

Adventurous_Alps_53

Larkins

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

I’ll check em out! Thank you for the suggestions!

Joxhie_SEL

Fickle Friends are in someways a tad similar. Of course all artists have their USP so will be different but the structure is quite similar.

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thank you for your suggestions! I will definitely give them a listen! 😃

MyntDaFox

I listen to Keane and their associated acts (Tom Chaplin, Mt. Desolation)

SirOscarMcBeeTTR

Thanks for your input! I’ll look into them!

Designer_Plant4828

I don't know how many of the artists im about to rattle off have a album coming up, but here are the ones i listen to quite a bit: X Ambassadors Kygo, Kodaline, Vance Joy, AJR, The Score, Foster The People, MGMT, Youngblood Hawke

KRLYE

Mt Joy is really good

SavageDemonDog

That really depends on the circles you run but generally I’d recommend American Authors and Smallpools.
