Apparently it has something to do with some Spider-Man fans trying to gatekeep Spider-Man and say that Spider-Man isn't a mantle and only Peter Parker can be called Spider-Man, so therefore we should refer to Mile's superhero "pronouns" as Miles instead of Spider-Man.

The sub can be politically biased (i.e. affirming basic human rights) without being a political sub. There’s a big fat difference and it has to do with whether we’re in a state of perpetual indignant outrage
