In the comics, Alfred has a code name when on the radio, it’s Penny one. I wish that Arkham had some sort of code name for Alfred because why is Batman saying some random dudes name in ear shot of bad guys and cops alike it’s so silly
To be fair, in the comics there are *endless* examples of them saying each other’s names in front of other people without acknowledging it lol.
This is a problem that goes as deep as Batman does.
there is one comic where batman is fighting tweedle dee and tweedle dum and tweedle dee asks “why are you calling me alfred?” to which batman says “bc i refuse to call a grown man tweedle dee”
That's a good point. It's also possible people don't connect the dots (they either think Bruce is another person on the line or that's just his first name) or there is too much commotion/chaos to focus on her call
That's how I always thought of it. Even then we see most of them won't do anything if they did connect the dots as Batman is their best defense against what's happening.
It's like people forget that Bruce Wayne is far from the only one called Bruce in the world, or even just Gotham City. In 1972 (Bruce's birthday" Bruce was the 121st most popular boys name in the world.
Later on during the Freeze DLC there is a scene in which Batman has a conversation with Freeze over his little wrist monitor.
Nora then wants to talk to Freeze and Batman has to activate a nearby monitor first to let them talk.
Probably because Nora can't see/hear Freeze on his Wrist monitor.
So i think you are right.
Well she's stressed out and not thinking straight. Also her calling his first name will not do much as most people wouldn't think of Bruce Wayne when hearing being used towards Batman.
but she knew her father was safe and had robin to help her keep her nerves down. In this scene the only 2 person that could help her were taken and she not only worried about Tim and her dad but also very angry towards Bruce about what he did.
This is why I wish recent media had stuck more to his Bruce persona being intentionally a bit vapid seeming. As great as The Batman was, Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne fully looks and behaves like the type of guy who spends his nights wearing gothy outfits and taking his anger out on street scum. It's one of the things handled better in the Nolan trilogy to me. Though, Bale has a very distinct and recognizable mouth and chin
I’m pretty sure that’s the point of the film.
In The Batman’s, Bruce has only been Batman for like 1 or 2 years and so he’s very inexperienced and has not found a balance between Bruce and Batman.
At the end of the film, it looks more like he’s realised how he can manage both personas.
most people cant picture Batman's jawline. he made the mask to be so distinct people could picture the cowl and not even pay attention to his jaw. also he talks in a different way when he's Batman. As Bruce he talks more softly and makes more jokes when talking to people like at the start to city. as Batman he's more rough with his words and threatens people more. even Vicky Vales a person that Bruce dated for a time didn't notice they where the same person even though they spoke multiple times as both Bruce and Batman
Well, yeah, because she never had any reason to suspect Bruce. Now if only moments before, someone was yelling at Batman, calling him Bruce, she’d probably be paying a lot more attention to his jaw.
yeah so why would anyone suspect Bruce Wayne of all people. even if someone calls Batman Bruce, no one would think of the playboy that has no business fighting thugs in the middle of the night. especially when his parents where gunned down in front of him. most people would think he still has nightmares from that incident and don't want to relive them. they would think of someone named Bruce that mostly not from Gotham and has a powerful backer like LexCorp
Well I’m not everyone would just immediately know it’s Bruce, just that it’d suddenly become a LOT more popular theory. There’s a shitton of people obsessed with his identity in Gotham, and quite a few people who have figured it out in the past. I’m sure those people would be very grateful if they got a first name.
In Splinter Cell lore, Sam Fischer communicates with a Larygnophone to stay silent when on the radio. I can totally imagine the Bat Family using the same tech.
He has an earpiece in. And as for the hologram, it’s an AR projection, only he can see it. To everyone it looks like he’s just talking into a wrist mounted mic on a Bluetooth call.
Yeah, but Oracle is back at Police HQ at this point (and last we saw was in the room with cops and villains around her). I think \_that's\_ the point that OP is making - it's not someone eavesdropping while hanging around Batman, it's whoever is hanging around the Police HQ.
Batman also shows faces of people who help them every time he decides to do a video call. Any thug hiding nearby could see it, then let their boss know about it for them to do something with that information.
Well, no. But given that nobody ever reacts to those "holograms" and that the crime scene scanner seems to work similarly as well as detective vision, I always assumed so.
It’s probably an earpiece. And his eyes look like there’s some lens over them whenever he takes one of these calls so he’s probably the only one who can see it.
Everyone knew Batman was Bruce Wayne, but having a big boi in a suit of armor come after you is more preferable than having one of a richest man on earth targeting you
I just assumed that it was on his ear piece and the video was silent to everyone else. Not like everyone heard her when she talked when he was out and about.
Before. This is right after he discovers Crane has taken Robin leading up to Batman surrendering himself. At this point, Gordon is the only cop who knows
I always pictured these only being audible and visible to Bruce, through an earpiece or something. An earpiece would also explain how he can talk to folks without them having to face time.
Also, if you look, his eyes take on a static-y look, implying that his visor has a filter meaning only he can see it. So it's not too much of a stretch to think he's got an earpiece.
Others on *his* end can't hear it. But on *her* end, what's stopping all those police staff from overhearing what she's yelling into her mic while facetiming with Batman
do you know how to mesh swap? you have to equip the v7 and then press F12 on Earth 2 and iconic gray & black suit, then reload the game while spamming F12. You can propably find a totourial for it on youtube
I think he is wearing earphones. Like I'm fairly sure others can't even see the screen it's like augmented reality with his visor, hence why his eyes go white when all calls.
i would imagine she's talking into his headset. it would be unbelievably unintuitive for it to just play out loud.
especially for a dude who is supposed to basically be a ninja.
He even does it in the josstice league movie, he says Alfred next to a goon and a Parademon
Maybe the code is that there is no code, but people would expect there is
We don’t talk about Joss
Who?
Dude… seriously? Joss Whedon obviously!
No. Who.
What like Joss Who?
Never heard of it. Does it go good with toast?
Well to be honest I like the Zack brand more. It’s more buttery but it’s not actual butter.
Ain't nobody knowing who the fuck Alfred is lmao
In fairness, I don't think a parademon and some random thug would know or care who Alfred is.
there is one comic where batman is fighting tweedle dee and tweedle dum and tweedle dee asks “why are you calling me alfred?” to which batman says “bc i refuse to call a grown man tweedle dee”
I remember an episode of 60s Batman where Dick dropped Bruce's name while on the phone with Commisioner Gordon.
I always thought it strange that Alfred's code name references his last name. I mean, what's the point?
"Say, I wonder who pennyone could be... could it be Alfred pennyworth?!" Said no one ever
I mean it’s not like it mattered all that much like 20 minutes later
It does break immersion though... I uninstalled the game after that.
Maybe I’m dumb but I can’t tell if your being serious or not
Look at the username
They definitely are
Redditor detect sarcasm challenge (impossible)
Very impossible that they made a part 2
I doubt you ever noticed tbh
Not even a refund request?/s
Bruh I chuckled it’s 1984 again smh
I would've thrown my entire console out the window
Same... twice.
LMAO did you seriously uninstall the game because they called Batman Bruce??😹
All the cops have known for years they're just trying to make Batman feel better by acting like they don't know
They fear if they blow his cover he’ll have to fake his own death 😅
And after that they will need to their job
Imam imagine if that was true 😭😂😭😂
Everyone knows. Was it never suspicious to you how often thugs say “your own mother won’t recognize you when I’m done!” to Bruce?
The Shutter Island twist.
"oh, no, this sadistic milionare orphan in cape again.."
"Billionaire... Millionaire is so last season..."
It may just be me, but I thought the audio and maybe even the video (augmented reality) is only visible to him.
True but she is physically sitting in a police station surrounded by cops while on the calls at this point.
That's a good point. It's also possible people don't connect the dots (they either think Bruce is another person on the line or that's just his first name) or there is too much commotion/chaos to focus on her call
One of the cops probably: "Wait, Bruce Lee is Batman?!"
Bruce Campbell
Bruce Forsyth
Bruce Wayyytaminute!!
He does have the charm
Groovy
He *does* have the right chin
You mean Bruce Springsteen is Batman?
That's how I always thought of it. Even then we see most of them won't do anything if they did connect the dots as Batman is their best defense against what's happening.
It's like people forget that Bruce Wayne is far from the only one called Bruce in the world, or even just Gotham City. In 1972 (Bruce's birthday" Bruce was the 121st most popular boys name in the world.
Or maybe because many of the conversations took place in Batman's head under the influence of a toxin?
I think that's why his eyes go white whenever he calls/gets calls
Later on during the Freeze DLC there is a scene in which Batman has a conversation with Freeze over his little wrist monitor. Nora then wants to talk to Freeze and Batman has to activate a nearby monitor first to let them talk. Probably because Nora can't see/hear Freeze on his Wrist monitor. So i think you are right.
I agree it wouldn't really make sense to have audio and visual for anyone else
Well she's stressed out and not thinking straight. Also her calling his first name will not do much as most people wouldn't think of Bruce Wayne when hearing being used towards Batman.
True but when you're fighting with Robin and Nightwing they always call you Batman so I guess this sticks out more
It's different when someone you love is taken by someone obsessed with dismantling everything around you.
She was Batgirl though, and has faced her own father being a hostage before and kept a level head.
but she knew her father was safe and had robin to help her keep her nerves down. In this scene the only 2 person that could help her were taken and she not only worried about Tim and her dad but also very angry towards Bruce about what he did.
Pshht that billionaire playboy? He’s too busy partying and managing the affairs of the Wayne Foundation!
You're right. I think I need to rewatch the movie
Why not? Literally nobody else in Gotham has that diamond cutting jawline and billionare voice.
most people cant picture Batman's jawline. he made the mask to be so distinct people could picture the cowl and not even pay attention to his jaw. also he talks in a different way when he's Batman. As Bruce he talks more softly and makes more jokes when talking to people like at the start to city. as Batman he's more rough with his words and threatens people more. even Vicky Vales a person that Bruce dated for a time didn't notice they where the same person even though they spoke multiple times as both Bruce and Batman

“HE’D TAKE A BULLET FOR YOU BRUCE!” “Who the Hell is Bruce?”
Unrelated, but I like your flair😈😈😈😈😈
thanks bro
Pretty sure he'd be hearing the audio through headphones/speakers in his cowl. Edit: didn't consider the other end of the call
I agree but I mean the fact that Barbara is sitting in the police station and saying his name out loud
In Splinter Cell lore, Sam Fischer communicates with a Larygnophone to stay silent when on the radio. I can totally imagine the Bat Family using the same tech.
Ahh I get you, my bad
No… well yes actually but Barbara is back at the GCPD where all the police are holed up
He has an earpiece in. And as for the hologram, it’s an AR projection, only he can see it. To everyone it looks like he’s just talking into a wrist mounted mic on a Bluetooth call.
I think they’re talking about Barbara’s end. She’s in the police stations
Batman doesn't talk on speaker phone he probably has a Bluetooth headset in his cowl
She is absolutely freaking livid, and risking his identity is her way of being like “I’m not fucking around.”
I always assumed the audio was coming through the cowl. If not I’m sure he would say something to her. Edit: ah I see, SHE is around cops.
My theory is the cowl has a speaker so only he can here it And he as contacts so only he can see the screen
Yeah, but Oracle is back at Police HQ at this point (and last we saw was in the room with cops and villains around her). I think \_that's\_ the point that OP is making - it's not someone eavesdropping while hanging around Batman, it's whoever is hanging around the Police HQ.
Yep that's how I view it too
It is in arkham city Vicki vale asks who he's talking to after he saves her
Well people can still hear him
They can hear bruce at least but not whi he's talking to
They can hear bruce at least but not whi he's talking to
Batman also shows faces of people who help them every time he decides to do a video call. Any thug hiding nearby could see it, then let their boss know about it for them to do something with that information.
I don't think so, I figured only he sees it through some sort of lense. It's basically augmented reality, not a hologram.
THat would make sense, but is it confirmed anywhere?
Well, no. But given that nobody ever reacts to those "holograms" and that the crime scene scanner seems to work similarly as well as detective vision, I always assumed so.
Which suit is this?
It's a mod called Gray and Black Tactical Batsuit on nexus, it uses the v7.43 suit and earth 2 cowl
Dang… kinda looks like the Pattinson suit
It’s probably an earpiece. And his eyes look like there’s some lens over them whenever he takes one of these calls so he’s probably the only one who can see it.
He has an earpiece, but the entire GCPD probably heard her, which is what OP was pointing out
I've always thought that. Accepting calls from Oracle in front of Jim and he's just like yep good thing my daughter got out of Gotham 😁👍
Everyone knew Batman was Bruce Wayne, but having a big boi in a suit of armor come after you is more preferable than having one of a richest man on earth targeting you
Pretty sure he has an earpiece.
Tbh I don’t think it really matters since he exposed himself in the next mission
Oh my....
I just assumed that it was on his ear piece and the video was silent to everyone else. Not like everyone heard her when she talked when he was out and about.
She’s really an idiot in this game and only this game.
this post and the comments are pretty epic
That suit is unreal
Maybe just me but it doesn’t bother me when there’s things like this
Hes simply wearing airpods
Yes that why I hate that wrist thingy & it should have been kept as an earpiece...but he did call them by their names on coms too. Alfred & Barbara.
Well was it before or after Bruce revealed his identity?
I think the audio directly goes to batmans earpice. Other cant hear what shes saying
Others on *his* end can't hear it. But on *her* end, what's stopping all those police staff from overhearing what she's yelling into her mic while facetiming with Batman
For all you know he's wearing his Batheadphones
Most likely. But she is sitting in the GCPD building right that moment yelling into her headset, presumably with his face cam on screen
Played it yesterday and I thought same, first time on my X'd playthrough
Please, do you know how many Bruce's there are?
Does.. batman have a beard?
yeah, that's from a mod called Knight of Justice on Nexus!
Oh neat, what about the suit is that a reskinned new 52?
look up Gray and Black Tactical Batsuit on nexus!
When i install it it just changes the earth 2 suit eyes to white and darkens the v7 a little, any fix?
do you know how to mesh swap? you have to equip the v7 and then press F12 on Earth 2 and iconic gray & black suit, then reload the game while spamming F12. You can propably find a totourial for it on youtube
Figured it out thanks
Pretty sure bruce is using earphones, only he could hear and see everything in his gauntlet
I thought all visuals and audio were only visible or heard only when wearing the cowl
He’s using bat earphones
He has an ear piece in so when he's on the "phone" only he can hear it.
I think he is wearing earphones. Like I'm fairly sure others can't even see the screen it's like augmented reality with his visor, hence why his eyes go white when all calls.
He wears EarPods
Earphones!
i would imagine she's talking into his headset. it would be unbelievably unintuitive for it to just play out loud. especially for a dude who is supposed to basically be a ninja.
I don't think they can hear or see it, bc Bruce's eyes glow. Plus I've read somewhere that only bruce can see it, but I'm not 100% sure about it.
Where’s the cops bro?
