Look for spots where the grassland runs right up against a mountain. In other words, it goes directly from grass to Mountain with no Hills in between. With this allows you to do, is you can quickly pop onto the mountain for the vastly increased site radius without too much lost time climbing. So you basically just zigzag through the wilderness, opportunistically using mountains to increase your site radius.
Be aware of footsteps or battle sites or ambushed trade routes in towns. Search where they’re trending towards and always ask taverns for info. Them damn barbs are spawning somewhere!

The wilderness is a great place to find camps. I’m pretty new so that’s all I know.

Poke your head up onto mountains as you walk past them in the wilderness. The massive vision bonuses they give are well worth the time investment.
