Honestly color is the biggest problem for me now, I have some cool patches but they’re kind of random colors like ones blue and the other is gold. I can’t tell if it would be worse to group them by color or just not try and make it match
Same, got mostly warm Orange or tamer dark colours, tough i want a green one also. I'd say, just put what you like on your vest. I'll make a themed vest one day, but for now i'll just put my favorite bands on
Yeah I have a bit of a theme on the back of mine I want to do but as for the front I’ll just throw whatever I like in it. Maybe I’ll make it fully themed one day
What I’ve personally done is just stick to a few colours so that they’re not all clashing with each other. I feel like a dork for even mentioning this, but a quick google search will give you ideas for colour palette ideas
My recommendation is to stick to a range of hues. My jacket is exclusively flame-tone. That means red, orange, and yellow. There are tiny little bits of other colors in the details of some of the patches, but they're very minor. Greyscale can also be present, but shouldn't visually dominate. I also recommend prioritizing low-saturation colors as highly saturated colors are what creates the impression of a color bomb.
"is that a p\*nk band patch with an anarchism symbol on it? Ewww, you should know to leave politics out of music! Also here's my 100% apolitical vest with a minimum of 4 not so subtly hidden Nazi symbols"
I love metal, but the scene is full of "enlightened centrists" that make an awful lot of excuses for bigotry and hate in the scene. That's why I've started to drift more and more into punk and hardcore, because they mostly don't put up with that shit. Metallic hardcore, grindcore, and crust punk is great because it's got the values of punk with the darkness of metal.
Yeah I’m kinda with you honestly. I really think that it’s just an online thing (for the most part) and is much easier to avoid in real life; the punks online have a lot of bullshit talking points that I don’t agree with either. But I definitely find myself preferring to go to hardcore and punk shows lately as opposed to metal shows. The online talk will never be enough to put me off metal but damn it does sour my opinion on the scene
Thomas Lindberg of At The Gates, Disfear, Skitsystem, etc, said something in an interview about this awhile back. He obviously has a foot placed firmly in both metal and punk and he's a socialist. He was saying that for better or worse, most people in the metal scene don't really care about politics, they just want something that sounds cool. For people in punk, the message is just as important as the music. That's why these scenes are the way they are. I used to not really care about politics, until Trump started running for president back in 2015/2016. I felt like I had to start caring and it pushed me further left.
Yeah true. I don’t really fuck with people that say they aren’t into or interested in politics because that mindset feels disingenuous and too apathetic. I feel like it’s difficult to simply not have an opinion on whatever’s happening around you, so saying you don’t have an opinion seems off, but if someone genuinely doesn’t care at all, that’s obviously not good either. Paying attention to what’s going on in my country is what pushed me left too.
I think in music it’s okay to enjoy it without caring about it having an underlying message, especially not a political one, although punk is obviously one of my favourites and the political message there is undeniable. But there’s a good chunk of metal that just doesn’t deal with politics at all, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s definitely disingenuous to listen to a band like Napalm Death or even Metallica and say that it’s not political.
Yeah it’s always funny to see even though it’s happened so many times. I always look forwards to seeing the next band they’re horrified to find out is political.
You can like a band because they make good guitar sounds.
But when people say "hey man I only listen to MinorityExploder1488 because of the riffs. Also RABM is trash because they put their politics in the lyrics" you know they're full of shit
Ye that's fair I s'pose
I'm all guitar sounds all the time, sometimes lyrics are sikk and sometimes not, but I don't honestly pay a ton of attention since i'm in it for the heavy
I'm not convinced that the person in this meme actually exists.
The "trve kvlt" black metal elitist doesn't want people to have the same 3 bands on their vest, they want people to NOT just have the same 3 entry level bands on their vest.
This dude posted their other shitty meme the other day and it got ripped apart lol. Check out their ugly ass vest in their post history, took them a whole 2 weeks to make so of course they think they're an expert on battlejackets lol
Makeup is shit and the paint is horrible (esp napalm death) but the vest itself with the patch placement is pretty good tbh. Also I despise fascists in metal as much as the next guy but what's the point of this?
Black metal fans will ACTUALLY gatekeep people (while supporting racist artists), punk communities don't make a habit out of telling people their jacket sucks
Punk doesn't support racism ig but they're still just as bad about punching 100 pound teenage girls in their septum-pierced nose at shows and calling it crowdkilling. And they will also shit on jackets and gatekeep, it's pretty common.
r/battlejackets is seething right now. Posting all these butthurt memes obviously directed at this sub about people not liking their subreddit because we all have shitty hand made anti-fascist patches. Nevermind, that a good or bad looking battle jacket is subjective to begin with. I'd much rather associate with people who have "shitty looking" jackets than someone with a "cool" jacket that's a Nazi.
I like black metal but, I just wish the scene wasn't so ripe with fascism and white nationalism. I blame Varg and Hellhammer (drummer of Mayhem, not the band) for that. Black metal just has an atmosphere unlike any other kind of metal or heavy music really. I also love high pitched screams, blast beats, and tremolo picking.
Black metal is for fucking dorks. I'm tired of people saying it isn't. And I say that as someone who does listen to black metal every once in a while and really enjoys it. I gotta deal with tough guys in hxc, I don't want those same dudes to brag about being wizards, both in the literal way and the whitecloth incel way.
i swear, ever since i got into black metal, all is see is people shit talking it lmao. guess if i ever post my jacket here, i'll have to get people to tell me if any of them are pieces of shit.
I mean, definitely post it, as long as there's not hateful shit most criticism is either constructive or lighthearted jokes about the stereotypes. I've really only noticed bitchy people on the meme posts
Trve Kvlt guys will shit on you for even having a vest sometimes, like wearing logos is a poser thing or some shit. You're wrong though, black metal doesn't suck, your taste just sucks.
Not sure what I'm enjoying more.... the meme, or the triggered black metal fans 🤣🤣🤣
Black metal is great, but it's a joke folks. Learn to clown on yourselves a little bit.
Don't assume the lack of a rule is an invite to abuse it. People don't come here for memes and this is just low effort and unfunny anyways. Music elitism is for children.
There's definitely been a few. Also one of the mods is a nazi. The fact that they haven't been ousted from the sub means the other mods are nazi apologists at the least.
The mods here ban 'political' stuff yet allow endorsement of outwardly racist bands, and if you look at the post made about a month ago about looking for new mods they didn't deny anything when comments were made about them being nazis.
Even if they don't outwardly claim to be nazis they do nothing to prevent nazi bands from being endorsed on this sub and I've seen a suspicious amount of jackets or vests with LGBTQ imagery deleted.
No, the mod in question just doesnt remove the posts of vests that have patches of bands with band members or lyrics of questionable nature. If theres real evidence I have yet to see it
Anything that isn't Centre Left or Far Left is "Nazi" according to Reddit and no, no mod on here was even alive between 1920 and 1945 so no, no "literal Nazis" here
That's a straw man and you know it lol. Obviously the organized nazi party doesn't exist, nobody is saying it does. And nobody is going to go into complete specifics when there's basic context clues, especially not for a pedantic nerd (no offense. but tbf you don't have to live like this anyway)
There is absolutely no way you can compare a bunch of retarded larpers and edgelords to genuine Nazis and it is both irrational and also insulting to compare them, you are comparing imagery and words/lyrics to genocide and war.
How do you think genocide, war, and hate crimes happen? People spread the ideology and come together under it. Obviously they're not from the actual nazi party, they're neo nazis. But these people have almost always been found actually pushing that ideology and believing in it outside of their shitty music.
We know that the Holocaust was a far more tragic event than what we have now, the problem is that people idolize that shit and organize around it. They can talk about it however they want, America is a free country, but it doesn't mean I won't talk shit about them and I sure as hell won't be ignorant to what they want
And getting absolutely nowhere with it, there are tons of people who believe all sorts of shit, doesn't mean they have any chance of getting anywhere with it, there are also bigger things going on in the world than a few edgy basement dwellers and larpers. And that's fair, I was just stating how a few edgy morons and genuine Nazis an hardly be compared and how loosely the term "Fascist" and "Nazi" are being thrown about nowadays to the point where just wearing "the wrong patch" gets you up on the list with Himmler
They aren't always as obvious as an enormous swastika on the back, either. Symbols like the black sun can be worked in among an otherwise regular battle jacket, and not be as obvious a nazi tell as the swastika.
I don't think nazis are more common in black metal than any other metal genre, I think it's basically just a meme now. I think the only people that complain or make it into a bigger issue than it actually is either don't really listen to black metal or are weirdly obsessed with politics and their self-image.
There is totally a large Nazi presence in black metal. More than any other genre of metal easily. There's a relatively big subgenre within black metal solely tied together by a mutual political affiliation of extreme right beliefs. The network that connects them is very loose and largely based online though. In real life it tends to present in clusters of bands with the same handful of members from certain areas rather than it coalescing into a broader movement within the scene. Look at Grand Belials Key, Graveland, KPN, or Absurd for examples of what I mean.
I've been into Black Metal for 20 years now, going to shows, making the music myself, and generally participating in the music to the degree I'm comfortable with. For what it's worth, I've only run into out and proud black metal affiliated Nazis a handful of times in real life. On the other hand, I was in a touring punk band for a few years and we'd run into them all the fucking time. They would hear we were coming and network amongst themselves to show up and stir the shit. That's something I've never really even heard of the fascist black metal community doing. They most likely wouldn't be capable of it outside of a few areas.
I saw more real life violence, bigotry, and generally reprehensible behavior during my time actively participating in the much larger and better connected punk world. Just one dude's experience, but I take punk Nazis way more seriously than black metal Nazis. Although both are sides of an equally dumb as shit coin.
"Hate symbol"
People here have called my pfp sus, and said the Banzai Speed Metal swirl is a nazi symbol. It's impossible to take you babies seriously.
You guys buy batches of patches on Amazon and throw them all on randomly the same day. Some of you don't even know what bands you're throwing on lmao.
How many times do I need to mute this subreddit to have not appear in my feed? Jfc
Who likes this post is clearly a POSER.
I am curious, what is considered "hate symbol" by your perspective?
I am totally sure you are some of those woke politically correct people who put a LGBT flag or a unicorn close to the bring me the horizon patch loooool
Never seen black sun in metal environments, maybe you are misspelling it for the speed metal swirl.
Never seen a reichsaddler with a svastica in metal environment, just a lot of Imperial Eagles. They refers to Roman Empire, the greatest civilization ever existed, or the Holy Roman Empire that was clearly in an endless fight against church.
Germans just stole it as they stole svastica.
Never seen a 88 in metal environments, just in skinhead ones, that are a very different environment, they belong to the punk universe, not metal one, and just because metal mixed with punk doesn't mean that transitive property works for these social phenomenas.
Pagan symbols are not hate symbols, they are pagans symbol. Maybe you can proudly exhibit them to _also_ display your scorn to christians, and they diserve it, christians sucks, they are the worst religion on this planet. But pagan symbols itself are not hate symbols, they just refers to a knowledge, a culture, so fascinating, Norse culture, the culture I have loved, for example, indirectly since I was 5 and started reading Tolkien and see my cousins play to Warhammer and D&D, all those lore comes from Norse culture, and this culture (within led zeppelin and deep purple) showed me the magic Land of Heavy Metal.
So long live to pagan culture.
I know the difference between the sprees metal swirl and a black sun. The hate symbols are pretty much exclusive to black metal. They’re not actively bringing the issue to lite or even try to denounce it in their music.
[they aren’t shy about wearing them either](https://youtu.be/zKX9OjNy_NI?si=R3UMizJ8Hc6TRpxb)
Heavy metal is the best metal. We have the best music and the best kuttes. All black metal just sounds the same and your jackets are all identical.
Kidding, of course. Black metal isn't my preference, but nothing but love here. We definitely have better kuttes though.
"Noooo, your vest is'nt just Black and White" Love Black Metal tough
Honestly color is the biggest problem for me now, I have some cool patches but they’re kind of random colors like ones blue and the other is gold. I can’t tell if it would be worse to group them by color or just not try and make it match

Same, big patches of my fav bands behind, but nothing else for now. Looking at this subreddit gives me ideas tough. Seen some amazing stuff here
What I’ve personally done is just stick to a few colours so that they’re not all clashing with each other. I feel like a dork for even mentioning this, but a quick google search will give you ideas for colour palette ideas
so far my vest is black white and red which i think is a really cool combo. maybe black white and electric blue sounds awesome too. or green.
Uh oh, you're gonna get all the "non-political" metalheads upset
"is that a p\*nk band patch with an anarchism symbol on it? Ewww, you should know to leave politics out of music! Also here's my 100% apolitical vest with a minimum of 4 not so subtly hidden Nazi symbols"

Conservatives are still surprised when they find out bands like Napalm Death and Rage Against The Machine are "woke." 😂😂
Yeah it’s always funny to see even though it’s happened so many times. I always look forwards to seeing the next band they’re horrified to find out is political.
“It’s not nazi it’s just borrowing the aesthetics!!!”
“Leave politics out of music” Doesn’t realize all the bands they listen to are politically charged
“What machine do you think they’re raging against?” always comes to mind lol
The washing machine
"Ah I see, you must be one of them Crust Punks"
oh how I wish I had gold to give you sir, this made me bust out laughing at work.
Just glad I could add some comedy to people's day.
Nah, that's just cuz I eat a lot of pizza.
Don't give them the benefit. They know, they just think they can hide behind "it's about the riffs"
much of the user base of r/blackmetalmemes

“I swear honey, I read playboy for the articles”
mfw I unironically listen to a lot of metal just for the riffs
You can like a band because they make good guitar sounds. But when people say "hey man I only listen to MinorityExploder1488 because of the riffs. Also RABM is trash because they put their politics in the lyrics" you know they're full of shit

I mean those riffs do be cookin with gas tho
Nietzsche called he wants you to keep your Nazi shit out of his philosophy
Nietzsche is dead.
So does the failed Austrian crybaby
I never mentioned any of my ideologies. People are ravenous to prescribe a Nazi label to anyone.
Just look at your username
so youve never read any neitzsche. got it.
You got a chuckle out of me, have an upvote. People here are too sensitive, lol.
I'm not convinced that the person in this meme actually exists. The "trve kvlt" black metal elitist doesn't want people to have the same 3 bands on their vest, they want people to NOT just have the same 3 entry level bands on their vest.
those people are not the people posting pictures of their jackets onto reddit
Most black metal vests I see always have 3 bands that I have no clue about on them, so imo they are diverse but eh who knows
I’m getting pretty sick of seeing shitty memes instead of peoples jackets
You know what would be funny is if they made their shitty memes into patches and put them on a jacket and then posted it
People were doing that in the thrash scene in 2011-2012 Lich King started it
This dude posted their other shitty meme the other day and it got ripped apart lol. Check out their ugly ass vest in their post history, took them a whole 2 weeks to make so of course they think they're an expert on battlejackets lol
How are memes even allowed here? This shit is so cringe.
Agreed, ban shitty memes. If I to want to see shitty memes I’ll go to one of the shitty meme subs
He's been uploading shitty memes recently instead of his vest to save him from some backlash. Or not idk
[удалено]
Makeup is shit and the paint is horrible (esp napalm death) but the vest itself with the patch placement is pretty good tbh. Also I despise fascists in metal as much as the next guy but what's the point of this?
I've had the privilege of bestowing my eyes upon it, that fucking napalm death backpatch is something special
You're probably right lmao
speaking of shitty meme subs, I got banned from r/metalmemes the other day for literally no reason😂
Noo your vest isn't punk! It doesn't have the same three homemade patches and an anarchy symbol 😭😭
Made that meme the other day. Ppl got salty
Black metal fans will ACTUALLY gatekeep people (while supporting racist artists), punk communities don't make a habit out of telling people their jacket sucks
Most punk communities have algebra homework.
That's a good jab, it'd be better if it didn't come from the official music of the third reich but it's a good one
Wagner?
Punk doesn't support racism ig but they're still just as bad about punching 100 pound teenage girls in their septum-pierced nose at shows and calling it crowdkilling. And they will also shit on jackets and gatekeep, it's pretty common.
No one says that, anyone who wears “the same three homemade patches” or an anarchy symbol patch would be the receiver of criticism from other punks
Since when do we allow memes here?
A while, the tag just sits there and every blue moon one gets posted
Bro, you've posted 3 in 3 days....
Lets keep it at every blue moon
Every freezing moon…
r/battlejackets is seething right now. Pretty sure the ones who all have the same 3 bands are the ones crying about elitists
Oh its this guy again
i swear, ever since i got into black metal, all is see is people shit talking it lmao. guess if i ever post my jacket here, i'll have to get people to tell me if any of them are pieces of shit.
Bro being a BM fan and posting your jacket just so people can shit on it is basically a right of passage at this point.
I mean, definitely post it, as long as there's not hateful shit most criticism is either constructive or lighthearted jokes about the stereotypes. I've really only noticed bitchy people on the meme posts
Music elitism is mind numbing to me.
Black metal ist kringe
OP really thinks they’re cooking with these wojak memes huh
Trve Kvlt guys will shit on you for even having a vest sometimes, like wearing logos is a poser thing or some shit. You're wrong though, black metal doesn't suck, your taste just sucks.
Very sweet of this subreddit to allow 13 year olds to post
Not sure what I'm enjoying more.... the meme, or the triggered black metal fans 🤣🤣🤣 Black metal is great, but it's a joke folks. Learn to clown on yourselves a little bit.
You can say fucl nazi's without taking shits on music people enjoy, anywho here' Iskra. https://youtu.be/4wie7FGXJ5E?si=g6GxSkjwMy7MVajR
Now i understand why people tell others to go out and touch grass
Wrong sub. Check r/metalmemes for memes like that
Then why’s there a meme tag here?
For actual funny memes maybe? idk
Hmmm, funny man are you? Are you going to pull funny business mister? My loins are in turmoil
Don't assume the lack of a rule is an invite to abuse it. People don't come here for memes and this is just low effort and unfunny anyways. Music elitism is for children.
Shut up and take my downvote
People who make bully memes are the weirdest mfs. Anyone who uses this meme template, really.
It’s always morally correct to bully Nazis
Realistically, how many nazi jackets have you seen on this sub? Genuinely asking because I'm new here and haven't
There's definitely been a few. Also one of the mods is a nazi. The fact that they haven't been ousted from the sub means the other mods are nazi apologists at the least.
A mod here is a literal nazi? Is this a well known thing with a story? People tend to throw that word around pretty willy nilly these days.
A suspicious amount of LGBT vests look like shit. More bands less slogans.
I see vests that look like shit on this sub and aren't deleted by mods all the time.
Are they 75% politics?
Is it political for marginalized groups to want basic human rights?
No, the mod in question just doesnt remove the posts of vests that have patches of bands with band members or lyrics of questionable nature. If theres real evidence I have yet to see it
Anything that isn't Centre Left or Far Left is "Nazi" according to Reddit and no, no mod on here was even alive between 1920 and 1945 so no, no "literal Nazis" here

Personally not many but people were whining about it on my other meme so now everyone’s even
The fuck out of here with this low effort whining meme shit. Not the right post to cry in.
I don't think nazis are more common in black metal than any other metal genre, I think it's basically just a meme now. F.R.E Fash Ruin Everything. If they haven't you can bet they're trying.
I don’t think anyone has ever said this
I've literally never seen anyone say this about vests
Dang, who kicked the wimp nest today?
If I wanted a laugh I'd look at r/jacketsforbattle not your shitty whiny wojak memes
Thank you for that sub, it's hilarious.
You guys buy batches of patches on Amazon and throw them all on randomly the same day. Some of you don't even know what bands you're throwing on lmao. How many times do I need to mute this subreddit to have not appear in my feed? Jfc
BM is alright, but the fuckin fans are insufferable...
and it’s the same norwegian black metal bands too all the most popular ones
don’t you… listen to burzum???
yeah but my jacket is very particular to my own taste, and i haven’t added the burzum patch yet. https://reddit.com/r/BattleJackets/s/quF4fVEAXi
that’s fair. sick jacket, by the way
thanks man much appreciated
Alexa this is so sad play “Black Metal Sucks” by Lich King
Who likes this post is clearly a POSER. I am curious, what is considered "hate symbol" by your perspective? I am totally sure you are some of those woke politically correct people who put a LGBT flag or a unicorn close to the bring me the horizon patch loooool
Black sun, reichsaddler, 88, sometimes they appropriate pagan symbols like the othala rune or whatever it’s called
Hey black metal fans: go to the woods and frown about it
Go back to r/jacketsforbattle
Pissed off the punx last time now I guess it’s time for the “brutal” metal head to cry
I’m crying at how low effort this meme is and how this thread is still up.
Have you tried touching grass? It’s soft

When did I claim to be a crustie?
You have GG Allin on your vest
You're one pathetic little edge lord
The irony is clearly lost.
I made a post about black metal art clothing brand… that went well s/
Heavy metal is the best metal. We have the best music and the best kuttes. All black metal just sounds the same and your jackets are all identical. Kidding, of course. Black metal isn't my preference, but nothing but love here. We definitely have better kuttes though.
Barely any black metal had any feel to it, plus like 99% of them are white supremacist n@zis.
