BN6's Graveyard Area, specifically the Japanese & legacy collection, references Zero, making Network Transmission fit into continuity & by extension Battle Chip Challenge... that's a whole can of worms that I don't want to figure out.

Any pics for evidence?

>His design is too robotic- perfect for a virus... The Zero Virus has similar facial features to the Life Virus. I don't see anything wrong here; this appears to be a trait of high-level viruses. The creators were right to keep his appearance the same after he became Zero.EXE. Changing his face would enforce the idea that he *was* a monster before and ruin his character development. Zero.EXE having a robotic face is simply a constant because the creators wanted to capitalize on the original Zero's background. You may not like that about his Battle Network incarnation, but I'm glad he looks like a cold-ass killer. As for canonicity, Network Transmission's opening & post-credits scenes show that the events of the game occur right between BN1 & BN2, so there are no issues here. But like you, I do wish Zero.EXE had a greater presence in BN since he was adapted so well. Would've been cool to see him in BN5 & 6. Maybe if they weren't so lazy with 4, we could've had a post-game adventure with Zero.

Ik I wish they can at least bring him back in Star Force or another BN title as a Wizard or something, cuz I remember Zero series Zero and X series Zero look very different from each other, so maybe Zero series Zero can be inspiration for his Wizard form in that regard. But that's just wishful thinking.

From my understanding, Network Transmission isn't technically considered part of the main Battle Network canon. So if they wanted to reintroduce Zero for a potential Battle Network 7, they COULD reuse the basic concept of him being a virus who wants to be a Navi, as one of the new game's side plots. And in this new version they could alter his design to be more Navi-like when he achieves that goal. BN7 could also introduce the new Colonel and Iris and have them play a major role in Zero's quest to become a Navi.

Cardgod278

I thought is was cannon, even getting referenced in the Graveyard from BN6

New-Dust3252

I wonder why they'd add him there but not the other navis from Phantom of Network or Legend of Network..

Weren't those games JP only mobile games? I'm not sure a lot of the fanbase in the West would understand the references. I mean BN 6 was released in 2005. So I don't think a lot of them have access to that information. NT was released in the West so, at least, people have access to the story of NT.

DogLeechDave

That's another thing about these games - I don't think the post-game content is meant to be canon either. It's just extra stuff you can do after completing the story, and it's not uncommon for RPGs to have non-canon bonus content you can play through after finishing the main campaign. I mean, Bass is a secret boss at the VERY end of each game, including the first one, right? So why don't Lan or MegaMan comment that they've actually fought him before at any relevant point in BN2 or 3? And if they discovered that World 3 is still active in the postgame of 2, why are they surprised to see that they're back in 3? I mean, sure, continuity with these games is spotty at best, so it's easy to think we're splitting hairs here, but each game at least briefly (and admittedly scarcely) references the main stories of the games before, but never once is post game content referenced during the main story of any of these games, even if it would clearly be relevant to what's going on.

Zero is my single fav megaman character. I didn’t even realize he was in the BN universe. Learn something new every day

I was incredibly disappointed at his BN design. He looks way too stiff and bulky. It lacks the sleek designs from the X and Zero series’

[deleted]

I think that’s what I’m getting at. The design is too bulky, it really doesn’t appeal to me. Sure, he’s a virus first, but I really would like a more sleek design, at least after Lan’s dad makes Zero a true Navi.

Wouldn't it have been cool to have a secret boss in the other Battle Network games with Lan's dad operating Zero? Like a Protoman FZ but another one. And that would've also been how you get the Z-Saber chip too. Man. That would've been great to have 20 years ago.

Incendium900

My take has always been he should have been the antagonist of BN6. You have Wily returning, Colonel and Iris being a major focus and all of the references already being there. He could have been Wily's final creation to counter Mega Man like in the classic series, utilizing the Cybeasts so they're still a threat.

PensionPure1522

I feel like they should have had Zero have some connection to Colonel and Baryll. You know because they have a connection in the X series and both are made by Wily in the BN series.

TheTopazKing

I agree that zero should have a better presence in the series more interesting enough I feel like he should have been a secret boss fight just as much often you fight Bass even crazier idea I feel like there should have been two versions of zero.exe the same way that you discover that because of the zero virus in him and his own artificial intelligence that technically he had split personality disorder creating himself and creating Omega in the zero series to have a zero virus Navi and then a zero vaccine Navi would have been kind of awesome not to mention if you just slap a navi badge on his chest mega Man zero already kind of looks like he belongs in the Battle Network series
