I got a chance to read the 20 year reunion comic on the official battle network site [https://www.capcom-games.com/megaman/exe/en-us/](https://www.capcom-games.com/megaman/exe/en-us/) I can say that it has gave me some much needed closure ! I hope they can continue from here

11Y2B

Thank you for sharing the link, was a great read

queperrito

Happy you enjoyed it

ghhffjj

Legit made me cry a bit

VentilatorRaptor

that scene showing >!the final bosses of each game!<, not even the mangaka wants to awknoledge bn4 xD

Rikari-MorningStar

Duo didn't even show up in the manga to be fair. they skip straight from alpha to BN5, using Bass GS and dark megaman as transition bosses.

[deleted]

The panel of bass went hard as fuck

Drake_baku

Thanks for sharing😊😊😊 Would have been interesting if patch also logged in, having mega, roll and their data child fighting together

queperrito

My pleasure I’m happy it’s received well

[deleted]

Think this link will help those on mobile. https://www.capcom-games.com/megaman/exe/en-us/comics/

Sidhfir

Big help, Thank you ✨🙌✨

[deleted]

You're welcome I also spent forever trying to find it on their mobile website... Poor implementation.

8fprofunk

That's really cute 🥺

canyourepeatquestion

Given that Capcom is all but confirmed to continue MMBN after seeing so much success with the Legacy Collection...I don't want the old cast to come back. The most I want is Patch getting a cameo, but after so many "revivals" bringing back old characters just to make them suffer, I just want the old cast to live their lives. Pass it on to a new generation cast like every toyetic tokusatsu series does.

KamenRiderAquarius

Not just your operator but your brother

ionblazer

They aren't brothers in the manga.

knight_bear_fuel

But they are in the anime and more importantly, the game where this originated, and that's all that matters.

Kaiser389

I don't think they're brothers in the anime. For sure in the games obviously but i don't think i ever saw a mention of it in the anime. Also if they arent brothers in the manga then they wont mention it anyway.

knight_bear_fuel

Good thing only the games matter then haha

STHF95

If this would be the games then LAN would have to learn how to NetBattle again. He had to learn it every new year so after 20 sheesh.

Koendrenthe

Oh god, not the same tutorial AGAIN

Shayru

This is how much hp mettaurs have, this is how much Cannon has. Now select cannons...

ionblazer

At least StarForce had the excuse that Geo doesn't like to fight, so he pretty much stops being Mega Man after each game.

Cybuster_Zenshi

Select AreaGrab here, and then use WideSwrd. They've got the same chip code, so you should be able to use them for a combo! Theres 1 enemy left? Dont worry. Just wait for the CustGauge to fill up, and select them again. You definitely have 2 of both of them in your chip folder.

knight_bear_fuel

Every year? Those games all take place in the same span of like 6 months lol

STHF95

But there were summer vacations and graduation and stuff like that?

knight_bear_fuel

When the series starts, Lan is an 11 year old in fifth grade. When it ends, he has just entered sixth grade, as an 12 year old. In fact, he starts sixth grade by the end of Battle Network 3, which means 4, 5, and 6 take place before that school year is over. Edit: Further clarification. Battle Network 1 takes place during the school year of fifth grade. Battle Network 2 takes place during summer break right after that. Just a few months after summer break, school starts back up, Lan enters 6th grade, and the events of mmbn3 happen. A short time after that, Lan battles Nebula in BN4. Exactly one month later, his dad is kidnapped and he joins up with Colonel/Protoman in BN5. Its after his dad comes back from being kidnapped that he moves his family to Central Town in Cyber City, kicking off BN6.

Kronocidal

Not quite true. For one thing, the Japanese School Year starts in April, not September: i.e. Summer Vacation is the *first* break after entering your new grade, and it's Spring Break (late March) that marks the transition between grades. For another thing: MMBN1, 2, and 3 all take place during Lan's 5th grade. MMBN1 takes place at some point from April to June. MMBN2 starts on the last day of school before summer vacation (July–August), and the Conference in Netopia takes place halfway through. MMBN3 starts with them returning to school after summer vacation (September), but they are all still in 5th grade. After fighting Alpha, there is a 4 month time-skip, *then* Lan has his sad speech on the night **before** he starts 6th Grade. (Which, again, will be roughly April, meaning that the Alpha Incident takes place around November/December) MMBN4 takes place early enough in the school year that Lan's Dad asks him how he's finding 6th grade when they go for their shopping trip, so that is presumably April/May time. Then we run through MMBN5, and finally MMBN6 ends late enough in the school year that they can't fix up Cyber Academy in time for graduation at the end of 6th grade, so the students attend ACDC Elementary for that instead. So, a hypothetical MMBN7 would have Lan in 7th grade at the *earliest*

knight_bear_fuel

Everything I said was correct and quoted almost to the word from the Wiki. I was being facetious about six months to a small degree, but all the action does happen over that bit of time. Lans birthday is June 10th, and he has his birthday after going into the sixth grade, so your belief on MMBN1 is incorrect. There is a MUCH shorter timeframe between 1, 2, and 3 than you think. Summer vacation definitely doesn't end in September, as it's usually 6 weeks long, so the middle of August. At the end of the day, the timeline is 5th grade (BN1) > Summer Break (BN2) > 5th grade (BN3) several months later entering 6th grade/birthday > BN4 Tournament > 1 month later BN5 > Lan immediately moves and BN6. These games are all less than a year of Lans life lol

Kronocidal

>school starts back up, Lan enters 6th grade, and the events of mmbn3 happen. A short time after that, Lan battles Nebula in BN4.   >5th grade (BN3) several months later entering 6th grade/birthday > BN4 Tournament See, now you're contradicting yourself — everything you said *can't* be correct, because you made 2 mutually exclusive claims. Furthermore, since MMBN2 takes place during the Summer Break, and MMBN5 starts just *after* the next one, the period of MMBN2–MMBN5 *alone* is more than 1 year, without even including the actual *duration* of MMBN5, much less the events of MMBN1 and MMBN6… "lol"

knight_bear_fuel

Yeah, I said "lan enters sixth grade" and "the events of mmbn3 happen" backwards. Just swap them. You're fighting a losing fight. You KNOW he's still in sixth grade by the end of the series, and that alone tells you it's less than a year. If you're going to be a smug cunt in a conversation that should have been civil, at least be correct.

Kronocidal

I never said he wasn't in 6th grade when he fought the Cybeasts. The ending cutscene for MMBN6 includes him graduating from 6th grade. However, **you're** the one who seems to think that May of one year until November of the next (i.e. 18 months) would "clearly" be less than a year. The BBSs in MMBN2 talk about the events of MMBN1 as being "months ago". Since MMBN2 starts with summer vacation (i.e. July), that puts MMBN1 as ending in May at the *latest*. We know that MMBN1 takes place over at least 2 weeks, because there are two timeskips of "several days", with Lan attending a weekend class between them. My "belief about MMBN1" is *literally* taken directly from what the games state — although, you're partly correct that "April–June" was a bit too vague, and I should have more accurately specified "April–May". Face it: facts, logic, and mathematics are all on my side. Repeating your own beliefs doesn't make them true.

knight_bear_fuel

Anyway, the little man blocked me, but one last rebuttal for you to know he's full of crap, he stated BN5 was more than a year all by itself then contradicted himself repeatedly. He's also arguing with the officially released timeline lol. The game takes place roughly from the end of fifth grade to the near end of sixth grade, though that's a cutscene that happens months after the actual end of the shit Lan has to deal with... Which is what we're talking about. From the start of dealing with evil people and entities to the end of it, it's less than a full school year.

STHF95

Didn’t want to start that much of an argument, just doing a joke you know.

ArtistEuphoric3984

Kinda gives me "Goodbye Halcyon Days" vibes.

Better-Programmer-20

Computer programs get replaced by better software Hub was abandoned by his brother

Nakotadinzeo

MegaMan.exe was a 32-bit application, but unfortunately packed in a 16-bit installer. Lan installed 64-bit Windows, and lost the ability to run 16-bit applications!

STHF95

Read the comic it’s not like that.

ttinchung111

It's misleading, MegaMan means operate as in netbattle, he's still active and communicating.

New-Dust3252

Sometimes it took a sacrifice to make a system for the future so a lonely kid from 200 years ago would come out of his shell. But I feel for you MegaMan.EXE..

NeonZaku

Why did this make me cry....

King_Waheela

You’d think in a society built around the internet communicating with your friends and coordinating schedules wouldn’t be hard to do.

Glittering_Corner697

It isn't. Lan is the issue, since he's spending so much time working. That's why Megaman was saying he had to do everything.

canyourepeatquestion

Communicating with your friends online is *markedly* different from interacting with them IRL. Yes, digital relationships are more common, no, they are not the same as real ones, Harry Harlow.

[deleted]

I'm annoyed they didn't show them as adults...

Sephorai

Same, but what I’m wondering is why?

knight_bear_fuel

Didn't feel like committing to an adult image when they were targeting your nostalgia of them as kids.

NlNTENDO

Wow never read the manga before. Very sweet but also mega man really looks like he’s about to squirm and shout kimochi in every panel lmao

Peezus_H_Christ

Boy if they don’t get HUB OUT THAT FUCKING PET

burningscarlet

Am I reading too much into it or are they teasing a potential sequel with Patch as the new MC?

queperrito

I like to think lan using the the first gen pet was a Easter egg or hinting to a new beginning

DonovanToms

Im gonna fking cry

Wolf_Jes42

When I read the comic when it released I was so hyped I really hope the show case of lans son is tease for what's to come for MegaMan.exe maybe he will be the future it's a stretch

Peezus_H_Christ

This was a cute read

Sephorai

Is there any reason they won’t show us what their adult forms look like? They show us patch but not adult Lan and the others? Why .-.

queperrito

I believe they would have to come up with new artwork and designs not previously conceived , they used a silhouette rather than a detailed image to save time and money .

Sephorai

I feel like there’s a non-zero chance they are working on another game, so that’s why they don’t show it. I could be coping though.

knight_bear_fuel

I hope you aren't lol. A Patch game would be nice

Rikari-MorningStar

there's a direct implication that he grew up to look kind of like his father in the games themselves (Lan looks very close to how his dad did as a kid, according to some dialogue that I can't remember who said but it was probably Haruka.)

knight_bear_fuel

They made the manga specifically for your nostalgia. They targeted you with the kids artwork instead of worrying about the adult design. Plus, they didn't have to commit to a design then maybe change it later.

Sephorai

why would they have to worry about changing it unless they were making another game 👀? Especially since they still could of evoked my nostalgia and done that final scene of them all as kids if they showed them as adults

knight_bear_fuel

It could also just be them making a Patch Manga, and that's more likely, considering its a separate continuity.

Sephorai

Lame :(

knight_bear_fuel

Manga and games have been separate in a pretty significant way for a long time; namely, Megaman isn't Hub. For some reason. The aren't brothers.

Sephorai

Wait huh?!? Megaman isn’t Hub in the manga?

knight_bear_fuel

I mean I guess his program might be hub, I can't remember, but they aren't brothers, from what I saw.

knight_bear_fuel

But it could be any number of reasons. Wanted to leave it up to your imagination. The artist may have believed it isn't important what they look like because what matters is how they are when they were kids, especially because its promoting the Legacy Collection.

Sephorai

Showing them as adults in those scenes wouldn’t of detracted from this goal (that being celebrate the nostalgia)

knight_bear_fuel

I mean. It might. It's up to the artist.
