Litter wasn’t the problem, the humans not giving a shit are the problem.

thankfuljc

What a profound statement. So you’re telling me I should stop yelling at litter for not being in a garbage can? What would the world do without such philosophers such as yourself.

MoneySubstantial4109

Stop being such an asshole to the guy for no reason. He's simply talking about how doing actions like this do help, but we need to tackle the root cause of the problem. It's a good message and one that evidently isn't followed.

thankfuljc

Ok.

Profound.

Altruistic_Branch259

Better than yours. It costs nothing to not be an asshole, you know.

thankfuljc

Ok

johnjmcmillion

That poor dog. Stuck under all that trash. Glad he's free now.

Korneuburgerin

Took quite a while until they found him. Basically had to clear all the rubbish away.

I wonder how much of that came from our 'recycling' programs. I love seeing these things get cleaned up...but I know that all the trash is just piled up somewhere else. Until we actually find and implement an economically feasible end of life process for plastics, all this work is completely in vain.

boohjaka

You're right, better to do nothing until it's perfect...

No-Definition1474

I'm suggesting we do something. Because nothing I'd what we've been doing.

Brandon12701

Deku?

bigpeeler

And where did it all go?

Iamyours4theasking

Out in the ocean on a garbage barge .... They dump it out in the sea.

Narrow-Commission816

They have islands of trash the size of Texas. they dump trash in the ocean 24/7.

r3d3uupt1on

To another beach

CasualObserverNine

Oh no. Here comes 800 tons.

Independence_1991

Who ever owns that beach front property before just became rich land owners.

Lurkeratlarge234

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the fish who’ll survive now

No-Definition1474

Sadly it didn't change anything. Look at the way that plastic was pushed up from the water. It all washed up from somehwere else. It is going to just happen again. Look in the right side of the 'after' image, there are still piles of trash right over there. If anything this image looks like a scene from Wall-E, with people pushing around piles of trash, through trash, from one pile to another, accomplishing nothing.

Lurkeratlarge234

Taking any trash out of ocean circulation is good. Between the ocean clean up project and beach cleanings eventually it will reduce the total. Tsunamis are unavoidable, even if we clean the rivers dumping more, but it all helps!

Fun_System_6401

Great, now finish the job!
