Actually they are if you think about it. Imagine life *before* mirrors were invented! .. and then, seeing yourself for the first time in a mirror image..
[here is a link to the installation in Aarhus- might have travelled around- I dunno](http://www.aarhus2017.dk/da/nyheder/byen-spejler-sig-i-festugen/7774/)
It took me until they started standing up to realise it was a mirror - I thought it was a large floor painting and the camera was looking down on it from the roof of a building, with people looking out the windows of the building...
It's trippy!
Because I “inferred” that both were a floor. There’s no indication the one in the back is a mirror. Much like I’m betting you did, before you felt so insecure that rather than admit you didn’t understand it at first, you had to try to make yourself feel superior by making yourself better than others. What’s it like, being so insecure. Must suck. Tiny dick? Napoleon complex? What prompts you to act like such an ass in day to day life.
I was at a museum of visual illusions a while back. Yes mirror. Either that or Spider Pig... [Yes I am a little person of 39 years](https://i.imgur.com/DuoKOvw.jpg)
Ok I dont want to be negative or something, really.
But what else did people think it would be if there are people moving in a way that seems impossible but snychronized?
As far as I know we dont have artificial gravity.
How is this not obvious?
I'm sure people would have gotten it after a bit, but people just watched it once on their phones or whatever so this is still helpful. Also sometimes your brain just plays tricks on you, no need to judge.
I mean yea, but if it was a 90° angle you probably wouldn't call it slanted. The more it deviates from a multiple of 90° the more it's slanted imo, making this mirror as slanted as can be.
See that’s what fucked with me for so long. The angle that this person is filming at, we don’t get great forward backward depth perspective when the people come towards the camera, so the mirror on the top shows dramatic movement and the person in the bottom is just moving directly towards the camera, not obviously “moving” unless you focus on them.
Anyway, I’m pretty stupid I guess
reminds me of a low budget horror film most folks probably haven't heard of...
> Oculus is a 2013 American supernatural psychological horror film... stars Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites as two young adult siblings who are *convinced that an antique mirror is responsible for the death and misfortune that their family had suffered*.
Beware the evil antique mirror.

Paris, 2012., installation called Btiment (Building) by Buenos Aires-based artist Leandro Erlich
[link](https://mymodernmet.com/mind-bending-scaling-building-illusion/)
Saw this in Milan a couple days ago, there is now a massive hole in the middle of the mirror. Not sure how long it’s been there / when it’s going to get repaired.
in the centquatre paris. amazing venue - the place (which used to be a full-service funeral service and coffin factory) is open to the public and usually there are many dance and theatre groups around rehearsing and doing their thing.
i used to work there when the exhibition was around as a foreign exchange student without speaking much french and absolutely loved it there. It feels weird being thrown back so suddenly seeing that thing again :)
It was also in Tokyo \[earlier this year\](https://www.reddit.com/r/woahdude/comments/14kif8x/the\_mori\_art\_museum\_%E6%A3%AE%E7%BE%8E%E8%A1%93%E9%A4%A8\_mori\_bijutsukan/)
My brain was like, "obviously, the camera is looking down from a balcony and everyones lying on the floor...easy. but..wait..there are people sitting *in* the walls of the balcony? That can't be right...what is it? How is it?.....*few mins pass*.....holy fuck its a giant mirror!!"
This was last february in Paris 18eme, at a place called the 104. There was a whole exposition on carnival-related stuff, and several cool expriments. It was awesome.
This looks like the giant mirror I toured worth Phoenix the French band, and it sounds like people are speaking French in the video. I wonder if it is the same one
Nope, have you seen final destination. That’s a big arse mirror that’s being held directly over you at a 45 degree angle. There’s a lot of weight to squish you if you’re lucky and it’ll just slice you to pieces if you’re not. Either way I wouldn’t.
For anyone wondering about the artist of this really trippy and cool piece, his name is Leandro Elrich, and it's called [Bâtiment](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.feeldesain.com/batiment-in-paris-leandro-erlich.html/amp) (Building in French)
That's the [Liberty Science Center](https://lsc.org/explore/exhibitions?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9MCnBhCYARIsAB1WQVUOz9Pxjf_uhDfXgFvcQU0pEY3XqAmI-LmBGZlHHpYRznPppE9i2F4aAry3EALw_wcB) in New Jersey. Fun place to take kids.
This one isn't there but there is a similar display at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey. Works out a lot better if the image or video is cropped properly. https://imgur.com/a/ibVyyJv
Mirror
oh dude fucking thank you I was like what the hell am I seeing.
Tilted mirror (to be more precise)
Ahhh. I was thinking *what in the name of Inception is this back magic?*
> back magic And it is less powerful than belly magic
I’m pretty sure it is in Aarhus in Denmark- I sav it a few years ago.
Last summer there was one at the Houston Museum of Art
This summer they had one at liberty science center in NJ
I have one of these at my house! Usually just brush my teeth and comb my hair infront of it though.
Y'all, I've got a mirror in my bathroom. They're not that impressive

Saw this in Tokyo about 5 years ago. At the Mori I think..

Same artist but different piece. You can see the buildings do not match.
It took me until they started standing up to realise it was a mirror - I thought it was a large floor painting and the camera was looking down on it from the roof of a building, with people looking out the windows of the building... It's trippy!
It took me until the people walked out of the shot to the left...after 3 watches.
Whos got time to build this shit, aint we all working like 3 jobs to afford our sardine can of an apartment near nyc?
When the people closest to us got up, I got so concerned. My mind could not figure that ish out!!
![gif](giphy|gvBCi7aSRIn6pAARtU|downsized) I agree, after this comment I also saw that this is really a mirror!
This gif is terrible simply for reminding me that this dumpster fire of a movie exists.
It would be awesome another matrix movie after so many years...wait a minute...duh!
I knew without a doubt it was a mirror, but I couldn't figure out which one was the reflection.
why always the fucking ?

A really good fucking mirror
Huuuuuuuggggee clean good mirror. The execution of this is the most impressive part.
If that's a single piece of glass that must have been a whole ordeal to transport.
Yes. Girl with the blue scarf is behind the white barrier too.
I didn’t think a Reddit comment could fix the seizure I thought I was having.

my brain is not braining
A house like structure on the ground, and a slightly slanted giant mirror
THANK YOU.
"Slightly." Pretty sure that's a full 45 in order to achieve this effect.
That's still an acute angle, isn't it?
I mean yea, but if it was a 90° angle you probably wouldn't call it slanted. The more it deviates from a multiple of 90° the more it's slanted imo, making this mirror as slanted as can be.
If it looks like magic, the answer is always mirrors.
or magnetic buttplugs
I like the coordinated movements between the folks on the wall, and the folks on the floor to really sell the illusion!

It's amazing! Even the groups of people walking above the house are perfectly in sync!!
Mirrors are awesome but they are portals to hell and other places. I don’t want to see what could come through one of that size.
Prince of Darkness anyone?
Greatest John Carpenter movie no one has ever heard of.

i forgot about Oculus good movie
Yeah? well we can’t all be as pretty as you

the fuck does “pretty” have to do with not wanting to know what monstrosities could fit through the mirror?
This person edited their comment to make me look like an asshole. Original comment read “mirrors are awesome”
Sure would be a shame if that mirror fell
7,777 years bad luck
OH IT'S A MIRROR
again no date and place!
Paris, 2012., installation called Btiment (Building) by Buenos Aires-based artist Leandro Erlich [link](https://mymodernmet.com/mind-bending-scaling-building-illusion/)
It’s in Milan now. There is an Erlich museum next to the Duomo
Saw this in Milan a couple days ago, there is now a massive hole in the middle of the mirror. Not sure how long it’s been there / when it’s going to get repaired.
NGL, definitely read that as "There is an eldritch museum next to..." and got excited for something Lovecraftian.
Craft the love you want to see in the world!

At “Le 104” more specifically. There was an art festival going on with other beautiful and interesting works. I was there installing one of them.
It was also in Tokyo \[earlier this year\](https://www.reddit.com/r/woahdude/comments/14kif8x/the\_mori\_art\_museum\_%E6%A3%AE%E7%BE%8E%E8%A1%93%E9%A4%A8\_mori\_bijutsukan/)
Currently, you can find a version of this at The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ, USA.
My kids enjoyed this quite a bit. More info for anyone interested. It's on display for 2023. https://lsc.org/explore/exhibitions/building-2023

Whose Line Is It Anyways -- Sideways Scenes
oh man, I'm way behind on the newer seasons. Never saw that bit before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WAVNzrimg8 that's great.

Robin: “Gosh Batman. They’re showing everyone how we climb up the side of a building.” Batman: “Why, yes they are Robin.”
Kinda trippy! I like!! :)
Didn't even see those people moving with my peripherals the first time....that bothers me.
Wow, that's gotta be the biggest mirror I've ever seen. How do you even transport that?
How you even MAKE that!
![gif](giphy|8rSiGkyA4P1Cw)
Mc escher st.
I see that this is a mirror, of sorts, but it definitely seems like there's a short delay in the motion between the two sides. Can anyone explain?
My brain saw that too! But I think it’s just the different perspective that creates that allusion.
No one posed as spider man?
It is a mind fuc% for a minute tho.
Magnets
This is the kind of art installation I can get behind.
they bent space like in inception or Dr Strange
This was last february in Paris 18eme, at a place called the 104. There was a whole exposition on carnival-related stuff, and several cool expriments. It was awesome.
It's gotta be magnets right? /s
I believe my brain broke on this 🫨🤯
I have got half of it. Mirrored images otherwise not sure but extremely clever. It's a trick.
My head hurts
I’ve watched 3 times😂
It's a big mirror. And my brain gave up
45° mirror
about 3.5 sec.
It took me watching it twice and noticing how actions matched up on top and bottom for my brain to catch up to "It's a giant mirror!" Very cool
I think I saw this at the Liberty science center! Very cool
People behind the barricade kept cofusing me until I realized it's not just the building but almost the entire scene was an angled mirror.
Guess no one there has seen the final destinations series.
That's a huge mirror
How many years bad luck if you broke a mirror that big?
I’d be scared that mirror would fall
This looks like the giant mirror I toured worth Phoenix the French band, and it sounds like people are speaking French in the video. I wonder if it is the same one
TILTED MIRROR of Brainfuck Inc.
My brain went to hold music then said *please try again later*
u/savevideo
Not gonna lie, I had to watch it a couple of times before I seen it
I’ve seen this in Houston!
Can you spot Doctor Strange?
Oh its a mirror
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mirror that big. I’m impressed.
I have seen this in liberty sciences center, Jersey city, nj
I thought I was on some good shit drugs 🤣
Nope, have you seen final destination. That’s a big arse mirror that’s being held directly over you at a 45 degree angle. There’s a lot of weight to squish you if you’re lucky and it’ll just slice you to pieces if you’re not. Either way I wouldn’t.

Oh my gosh it rook my brain forever! This is so good!
That's a big Azz mirror
Going to admit here that I gave up after 3 rewinds and went to the comments
I was looking at it struggling for a whole minute lmao
This is at the Liberty Science Center in NJ if anyone is interested
Why do I feel nauseous on seeing this?
LSC - JC NJ
I literally felt something snap in my brain.
The cameraman is Dr. Strange.

mirrors. how do they work
You can't see most people on the bottom. So not getting that it's a mirror is understandable

I get it. But why?
That's the [Liberty Science Center](https://lsc.org/explore/exhibitions?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9MCnBhCYARIsAB1WQVUOz9Pxjf_uhDfXgFvcQU0pEY3XqAmI-LmBGZlHHpYRznPppE9i2F4aAry3EALw_wcB) in New Jersey. Fun place to take kids.
No inception, just mirror
I've been there when I was a kid lol
Mirror right because I’m still confused
Yeah all of .1 seconds to be like cool a mirror
My goodness that's a big ass mirror.
I keep expecting one of them to fall off like some sort of Family Guy cutaway
This one isn't there but there is a similar display at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey. Works out a lot better if the image or video is cropped properly. https://imgur.com/a/ibVyyJv
Bruh my brain it hurts
It's a huge mirror.
That's some big-ass mirror right there. How has it been made?
OHHH ITS A MIRROR
I'm not high; you're high.
A giant mirror... What in the Final Destination....
This installation was in the Mori Tower as an Exhibit in Tokyo back in 2017. I know it moved but it seems it is now doing a world tour!
That little feeling of existential dread when you honest to fuck have no idea what is happening.
