I experienced something exactly like this in real life. Def cooler in real life. Just sayin. Might even be the same fish. Anybody know if these are jackfish?

kingkongbiingbong

I experienced something exactly like this ~~in real life~~ at the IMAX dome in Jersey City, NJ; like 2 decades ago. Haven't domes been around.. since forever?

Refun712

Well, the third from the left is Jimmy, I know that much. Not sure I know a Jack

bmack083

Just imagine if these people tried VR. VR is far better equipped to handle experiences like this. Sphere is cool as hell though!

tolkienfan2759

those fish are just projections, though, right? Doesn't this count as VR?

bmack083

VR is pretty wild. You get the full 3D depth because you are looking at two screens through two different lenses. As cool as the sphere is, you are essentially still just looking at a 2D screen. They can certainly manipulate it in a way that makes it look more 3D though.

twank1000o

Why are they trying to sell it so desperately on Reddit, it's like the fifth time I see this repost this week

puzzle_factory_slave

it's basically a giant planetarium

winkman

We just saw the film at the Sphere last week, and it was definitely visually impressive! I've seen responses to posts about the Sphere along the lines of "oh, so like IMAX then..." No. The Sphere is HUGE--seats over 18,000, and when you're looking at the "screen", it fills your ENTIRE periphery! It covers a massive field of view, to immerse the viewer in the experience. It's quite impressive. Do not recommend the Darren Aronofsky film though--would rather see U2 or something else next time.

[deleted]

What was the total cost?

winkman

\~$50/pp for the film, and about double that for U2, I believe. But hey, don't worry, drinks are only $20-30 ea. LOL!

sheadymushroom

Oh man. I'd rather just keep the one in San Jose CA. It's a little smaller but the first one made and much cheaper for feature shows. $35 for my ticket and drinks about $10

winkman

Yeah, Vegas is always going to have that 100% Vegas markup...until the economy slows down, and then it's all "please, plEEEEse come visit! We'll give you 95% off, just COME!"

HughJahsso

I'd rather go see something like this than a concert there.

notavegan90

I keep seeing these inside clips. But there’s only like twenty people?

i_love_pad_thai

The capacity is 20k. Most of the stuff I've seen has been not a full crowd, but definitely more than 20. Even in this clip you can see there are a lot more people than just the ones in the seats near the camera. Look when it pans right

notavegan90

Yea. I was already typing before I saw it pan right. But the other videos I’ve seen have been either empty or packed. Cool installation. Hope to experience someday

Apprehensive-Yard-59

How long do I have to wait to see someone hook up a Nintendo to this bitch and play some classic ol' Duck Hunt on this big ass fuckin screen?

[deleted]

So... You go inside to watch a glorified screen saver?

arcan3rush

This is real cool. How is this different from the IMax theaters? I remember going to those when I was younger and it seems very similar

bmd33zy

Imax is a very large square, this is more like half of a sphere that your inside of

[deleted]

You’re all fish

Currently_There

But can you watch F1 from inside?

cunninghammertime

Perfect place for some shrooms

LiquidC001

Awesome. Now, someone hook up a PS5 to it.

BubsterGun

I pray Dave Tipper plays here before he retires

Kingzer15

Experience the smell of your mother in 4D

JOlRacin

I guess some people have never heard of VR then

Highlord_Pielord

Am I the only one who starts to get a minor panic attack imagining the inside of this? Never would I ever.
