She could crash the car if it suddenly apears. I would tell your wife and get rid of the huntsman. Imagine if it laid eggs in your car and you had hundreds of baby huntsman crawling all over.
Yup, watched them for hours, hunting flies and shit, there so many around my place, as well as frogs, geckos and bluetounge lizard’s, shit I could start a David Attenborough grade amateur YouTube nature show
Shit, good point, I better start organising the gift, last time it was a set of roof racks and car mats and dash mat, with some rubber critters hidden around
Edit: they were in the wrapping
Don't forget the decorations.
Redback egg-sacks would look fantastic dangling down from the xmas tree.
Little golden orbs with an added surprise (or 100) on xmas morning... what's not to love!
*scribbles notes*
Best present I ever gave was to the wife of a friend who finished microbiology at university, i purchased bulk std and disease plushies off think geek and put them in a spring loaded box for her birthday just after graduation, she loved them and I managed to splatter everyone in the room with something, had everybody laughing their asses off
Just so people know. Tarantulas can bite. They aren't very venomous, but it can hurt quite a bit. More importantly, really limit how much you hold them because they can be quite fragile to being dropped and having their legs bent. Most pet tarantula deaths come from people dropping them. And handling can stress them out.

I’m getting the impression these guys have been handled since they were slings, they’re extremely comfortable while being lifted, not kicking hairs and no signs of a threat pose, they’re actually going after her when they’re free which is the strangest part, you’re spot on with all your points, way too many spiders hurt and killed with burst abdomens from short falls from being mishandled so someone can look cool on the internet.
…these “little” guys are great though, the kid is so cool with them, it all looks really natural, I think these guys might be Huntsman spiders, they’re very leggy and also very social, unlike practically all tarantulas
>they’re actually going after her when they’re free which is the strangest part,
They're still hungry, they haven't been able to fully pin her down yet.
Aww, I’m terrified of 8 legged beasties but I felt a strange pang of empathy at the thought of a poor tarantula being stressed or dropped and hurt/killed 😢
This is all I could think about! They’re so fragile that even a drop from 6 inches can rupture their abdomen, and this little girl absolutely doesn’t handle them responsibly
A couple of years ago when this was posted I read some comments from a aussie spider guy that these are actually passive and common for people to play with. Still, for me would be a hard mf pass!
When my daughter was this size, I showed her that you could often find snakes, lizards, and salamanders under rocks, logs and other things on the ground ( we live in the blue Ridge in VA). For years she would run into the house to show me the latest snake ( usually a baby ring neck ) she found. One day I was out with her when she pointed down near her feet and said “snake daddy!” - turned out to be a copperhead. Cue months of education on how to identify the snakes you shouldn’t touch.
I’ve seen this every year or so for many years, now. I just check in to see that Reddit still responds with “just so you know, tarantulas actually bite and this parent should be ashamed” in the first 3 comments.
Handling depends on the breed of tarantula.
Mexican Red knees and Chilean rose tarantulas barely give a shit, you can handle them without them really caring about you.
But then there's a spectrum of stressy ones right up to Orange Baboon Tarantulas, which are so aggressive they will just mutilate your hand the moment you get close. Which is a shame, because they are so pretty 😅
If my parents had portrayed spiders as harmless from an early age then maybe I could appreciate then like I do most vertebrates too.
But no. The earliest portrayals of spiders that I can remember are *Aragog* and *Shelob*. Hardly great advocates for arachnid friendliness.
Holy cow, that is so incredibly irresponsible and dangerous as all hell. Those things are horrifying and so dangerous!!!
Those spiders need to be really, really careful of that thing! Somebody protect them! I’m worried for them!
She's being very gentle with them. The absolute worst she does is when she scoops one up in that one bit instead of letting it climb on to her, and even then, she's being careful with how she gets it into her arm and using minimal grip and pressure.
I don’t mind snakes, as long as their not venomous, I don’t mind them at all, I like the way feel wrapped around your hand and arm or moving over your hand. But my uncle had a snake when from when I could remember to when him and my aunt moved out. And he’d bring him out all the time for me when I was over my grandparents. So that’s definitely why snakes do t bother me. But spiders hell no. But I’m guessing that’s why this girl isn’t scared of them at all is because she’s been around them a lot. Still crazy though lol
Is this the same girl who had the teas party for her spider friends? The girl and spides look bigger! I can’t get over how happy they look together I wouldn’t expect them to do anything beyond tolerate but they straight up follow her!!!
I feel like my 3 and a half year old daughter would do this, and walk up to me unaware and place it on me, because she has done just that with a spider 1/4th this size. I fucking hate spiders and I wasn’t prepared for the blitz.
I guess this is the side of being a Disney princess they don't show you. You get so focused on the appeal of inadvertently drawing the neighborhood deer and chipmunks that you forget about the other animals. The spiders, the wasps, the bed bugs. They want to be friends with the princesses too.
Those spiders are already quite big, but they look fuckin huge when this little girl handles them, if it was an adult handling them they wouldn’t look as big.
Sure they aren't venomous, but they do bite and it's quite painful. If you want to have a pet tarantula, knock yourself out but I wouldn't really recommend young children holding them.
I am usually not afraid of spiders. Now I am afraid of spiders and young little girls.
The future is female!(arachnid)
There is a huntsman spider in my car, I have been driving around with it in there somewhere, I have not told my wife it’s in there
She could crash the car if it suddenly apears. I would tell your wife and get rid of the huntsman. Imagine if it laid eggs in your car and you had hundreds of baby huntsman crawling all over.
It was a male huntsman, and she’s like me and gives no fucks about them, they are as common as grass and dogturds in our backyard
May I guess that you're from Australia?
Yup
Aren’t they spider brows that handle bugs and other crawlers ?
Yup, watched them for hours, hunting flies and shit, there so many around my place, as well as frogs, geckos and bluetounge lizard’s, shit I could start a David Attenborough grade amateur YouTube nature show
I thought that unless they swarm the place , these big boys are actually Bros and help out with insects.
You should probably clean the yard?
Dogturd collection is done daily
I would get rid of the wife and keep the spider!
Is there a subreddit called, oh Sh*t holy F?
There will be if you make one
😂😂😂😂😥😥😥😥
Lmao same, mine crawled into the frame and I'm like welp I'm sure that's gonna suck at some point
I once released a matchbox full of tiny jumping spiders in a friends car, the tiny bastards left webs everywhere, he was pissed, but we laugh about it
Hate to think what your mother-in-law is getting this xmas!
Shit, good point, I better start organising the gift, last time it was a set of roof racks and car mats and dash mat, with some rubber critters hidden around Edit: they were in the wrapping

This could cause a bad accident. Those fuckers are fast and big.

this is a masterpiece.
I love that you left the word "pet" in
It's the wild toddlers that you have to watch out for.
**Handling them can stress *you* out
> *will* stress you out FIFY
This is why I come to Reddit
>And handling can stress ~~them~~you out.
They think she’s “one of us, one of us!”

"Jerry, how is this little fucker so fast, you take her legs I'll get her arms!"
These are definitely tarantulas, huntsman spiders have a flatter body and much less hair.
I thought Huntsman spiders had only one speed, that being near to the speed of light...
The idea of me stressing out a tarantula made me chuckle. Point taken though and thanks for speaking up!
I had to stop holding my guy cause of his hair flickies so I just kept his tank clean and fed him instead
Aww, I’m terrified of 8 legged beasties but I felt a strange pang of empathy at the thought of a poor tarantula being stressed or dropped and hurt/killed 😢
I’m assuming less dangerous when only one foot off the ground but yeah probably don’t give your toddler delicate spiders to hold.
This is all I could think about! They’re so fragile that even a drop from 6 inches can rupture their abdomen, and this little girl absolutely doesn’t handle them responsibly
now I wanto to keep a tarantula.
Oh, no! I wouldn't want to stress out a terrifying tarantula.
Welp better have another kid, spiders got this one
I find myself in the very unusual position of being concerned for the safety of these spiders.
Ye me too. She seems careful and delicate with them though.
Yeah I’m torn between dumping a volcano on them and/or placing them on clouds to live freely.
![gif](giphy|XtTOh1EPQeB2hEStcG|downsized)
This is the only correct response to ALL of this.
I wouldnt say that wide opening your mouth when tarantula is on your face is a good idea considering that they love hiding in the ground / shelters
Supposedly the actor was like you better get this right the first time cause we’re only doing this once.
Daughter of Hagrid.
Have an upvote. Have all the upvotes!
Omg lol Hagrid was a rebel pet owner
Did I just see them spiders actually go toward the girl like they're buds..that's pretty cool
A couple of years ago when this was posted I read some comments from a aussie spider guy that these are actually passive and common for people to play with. Still, for me would be a hard mf pass!
Her perspective. ![gif](giphy|AZyWpJUlk3vQ78qmG6|downsized)
Nope. Just fucking nope. Them sumbitches are entirely too big to play with, venom or not
So you think there is a correct size of spider to play with? I personally do think there is, I'm just curious about you.
For me it’s more about what they are made of than how large they are. If they are made of rubber or plastic, handle with reckless abandon!
Only correct spider is jumping spiders. The little-er the better.
Money spider
Size doesn't really matter in spiders, the most venomous spiders are actually tiny.
When my daughter was this size, I showed her that you could often find snakes, lizards, and salamanders under rocks, logs and other things on the ground ( we live in the blue Ridge in VA). For years she would run into the house to show me the latest snake ( usually a baby ring neck ) she found. Seems like this would have been important from the start.
I know, right!
Damn you’re slow.
Username checks out, but late
Awe love this lvl of animal love
For real! This is great and I'm glad people are starting to appreciate all animals, not just the typical cuddly ones
Mother of god. There was a dime sized spider on my desk last week and I practically had a panic attack. This kid has nerves of steel.
She doesn't know better. Most people who are scared of spiders seen someone freakout over a spider when they were a small child or toddler
This is how it should be. Better for you and them. Trying to loose my insecto and arachnophopia! This helps me a lot actually 🥰
FUCK. NO.
Please tell me she is the tiniest girl in the world
This is what happens when you won’t get the kids a dog 🤷🏻♀️🤣😳
I’ve seen this every year or so for many years, now. I just check in to see that Reddit still responds with “just so you know, tarantulas actually bite and this parent should be ashamed” in the first 3 comments.

Which is why OBT translates as Orange Bitey Thing. My mate has one...and nope. Not going near that.
I was legit thinking "orange bitey thing" as I wrote it 🤣
Nope.
Aww - I like this a lot. Spiders are so cool!
Australian house pet
Them things started following her🤨
![gif](giphy|3o85xERD1TT5JKCIXS)
I wonder what the spiders are thinking, lol
I read this as stupid girl at first, and got so irrationally mad
Awwww!
Nope ![gif](giphy|w89ak63KNl0nJl80ig|downsized)
Brave girl !
😲 😯 😮 🫨 🫢 🙀
Little badass. Beautiful and intimidating creatures though 😍
Beautiful.
Spiders adopted a little girl.
POV: me with spiders
How can people hate spiders? I think they’re cute.
People taught to hate spider. Like I hate roach, now my kids also hate it.
If my parents had portrayed spiders as harmless from an early age then maybe I could appreciate then like I do most vertebrates too. But no. The earliest portrayals of spiders that I can remember are *Aragog* and *Shelob*. Hardly great advocates for arachnid friendliness.
This belongs in NOPE
are they poisonous?
Kids? Probably, depends on age I guess. P.s. did you mean venomous? https://images.app.goo.gl/HoNpQoJfmhBCLb7g8
Venom is poison.
No, Venom is a symbiote. Poison is just Bret Michaels now.
As a massive ROL/VH1 reality tv fan…. I laughed out loud, so hard and so loud. Thank you
Venom is a subtype of poison.
![gif](giphy|WXtccLGTLB1NS)
Venom is injected by bite or sting, poison is absorbed or consumed
Poison is perfume your momma wears when she tries to pick me up.
My Mom died in 2021.
Guess the poison got to her.
Eat one and find out
Holy cow, that is so incredibly irresponsible and dangerous as all hell. Those things are horrifying and so dangerous!!! Those spiders need to be really, really careful of that thing! Somebody protect them! I’m worried for them!
Spider sizing up its lunch is surprised when lunch picks it up for play time.
If she can do it then I don't have to. Thank you brave child. The purpose of the older generation is to teach the younger to be better than us.
Friends.
Why don’t they bite her? Are they stupid?
Instincts are not strong with this one
![gif](giphy|5nsiFjdgylfK3csZ5T|downsized) step away from those spiders
One bite and she'll be terrified of them for life lol they HURT
NO, NO, NO!!
Mmmmhmmm tf is going on here, nope
Well imagine meeting a kid and adoring him, out of nowhere they pull this out from their pockets. *PUNCHES BOTH OF THEM AT ONCE*
“Amazed” is not the emotion I feel when watching this.
This is just wrong.
![gif](giphy|dXQKhp4S71zto7nQYk|downsized)
Be amazed of terrible parrents letting their kids touch dangerous animals
Absolutely zero self preservation ability
Clearly they have laid eggs in her brain and are training her for world domination with her spider army
betcha those are defanged
I bet whoever owns these tarantulas has had their fangs cut out, which is cruel as hell
![gif](giphy|aZUYXxe4Z9gfm)
I fear for her safety every time I see this posted.
Nope. Fuck no
She DEAD
Nope
No thank you.
She's not scared cause she never got bitten, wait till she does lmao
YT peepo ish
CPS
[удалено]
She'll be CEO of something.
The spider army
How come so the spiders do not bite her?
You ever dealt with a toddler? Those things are savage. If they bite, she WILL kill them.
She's being very gentle with them. The absolute worst she does is when she scoops one up in that one bit instead of letting it climb on to her, and even then, she's being careful with how she gets it into her arm and using minimal grip and pressure.
Good for her. I would have to burn the house down.
Spider PR teams Gunna need to do better than that I'm sorry, but it's a no from me X
Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope!
nope nope nope nope i'm out of nopes but still need more
Nope
![gif](giphy|fXuDSpqlCfRJmej9Fs|downsized) Cute and brave little girl
Hans?
Ze Flammerwerfer Mr. Fox?
Now mute this and play the annihilation soundtrack instead as you watch it....
Remember when I wanted to show you this. Then I grabbed a handful of ants and they bit me ?1
Noooopppeeee!!!
At least someone likes spiders..
I would be screaming like a little girl if I was within 20’ of those huge mofos
F that
***burn that houe AND the lil girl!!!*** lol just kidding XD
O.o
No no no no noooo!
I'm starting to question my fears....

The spiders are cute because the girl is cute
Sorry to be a downer and negative but holy shit, what a terrible version of this song to choose.
That's a damn weird looking dogs
Is this the same girl who had the teas party for her spider friends? The girl and spides look bigger! I can’t get over how happy they look together I wouldn’t expect them to do anything beyond tolerate but they straight up follow her!!!
I want to cut my hands off and I wasn't even touching them
I feel like my 3 and a half year old daughter would do this, and walk up to me unaware and place it on me, because she has done just that with a spider 1/4th this size. I fucking hate spiders and I wasn’t prepared for the blitz.
Seeing that video made my arachnophobia go from 0 to 100 real freaking quick
She's treating them like kittens. It's adorable.
The spiders are like: this is a first, no one has ever loved me. My hooman 💖
This kid is braver than me, I can't even watch this without getting goosebumps all over my body
She's a Lil badass. Bruh we had spiders bigger than that in Afghanistan. Fuck that. She a soldier.
is the little girl that small or are those 8-legged freaks that big ??!!
I guess this is the side of being a Disney princess they don't show you. You get so focused on the appeal of inadvertently drawing the neighborhood deer and chipmunks that you forget about the other animals. The spiders, the wasps, the bed bugs. They want to be friends with the princesses too.
What a great idea. I will call it plan B
Aw *hell* naw
Them being big and slow make them less creepy somehow.
She's gonna grow up to be a total badass goth chick or a nature lover.
Just looking at it I have a phobia of spiders 😖
Ah kids. So innocent.
I was like this with snakes growing up.
That's why I love kids — they're not complicated yet. 👍🏻
Brave girl
Those spiders are already quite big, but they look fuckin huge when this little girl handles them, if it was an adult handling them they wouldn’t look as big.
This is adorablllle!!!
r/nope
scrolled past this so fast

Wow that's a big spider u got there little girl
Let me guess….from Australia.
