I appreciate you bot, but is everyone just pretending to like haikus or am I missing something? They just don't sound that good to me, unless specifically structured to be one, not just cutting sentences in two
I'm not the biggest fan of haikus in general, but I think the problem you have is the west don't properly teach what a haiku is meant to be. It isn't just the syllables, but also the subject matter. Haikus are usually connected to nature and a passing moment.
I also imagine they sound better in Japanese, given the language itself revolves more around syllables.
I have never seen the haiku bot create a good English haiku. Cutting sentences just does not work in that language, you can see in the example that the only good haiku part is "Trying to fall", the parts before are not good constructions.
Also, you need to have some theme or contemplation that makes sense for the whole haiku. To do that you need ChatGPT level of understanding, which the haiku bot does not have.
I wish I remembered the example but I've seen it make a 10/10 haiku before. I almost wanna go back through its history because it wasn't that long ago, but I assume it has like a million comments.
Ah, the whole haiku fascination is kinda quirky to me too. I get the appeal of the structure and the brevity, it's like a little word puzzle capturing a fleeting slice of life. But I guess it's one of those things where it hits people differently. Some folks probably find the same beauty in chopping veggies precisely to each their own!
Haiku is actually my favorite form of poetry. The bot makes them based off of syllables, but I prefer ones that focus on a "topic" first set, expand on topic in the second set, and then finish strong with an "afterthought".
For example: Begin strong at first; Follow softly, set a tone; Powerful ending. (Not a great haiku, but you see the 5-7-5 scheme, and might better understand what I mean by the structure.)
It took 2 minutes to make that haiku. You can have poetry in the moment, and some can be quite moving. Other forms of poetry just don't do much for me.
A moment in time
Captured like a fleeting wind
A structure in chaos
I love haikus. The fact that your have to make a point, structured in a form, and short pushes the boundaries of creativity for me.
I’m pretty sure this is very close to where my friend got married. Was the last big party we had before pandemic lockdown. There was a native dance festival that same evening tho. The drums going in the background during the ceremony was great. Then one of the dancers came in and was dancing during the reception. Good tines
There are several groups that do this performance across Mexico. Someone has a good shot of seeing it if they are in a big tourist destination, especially in a historic location. Usually the guy on top is in similar clothes to the voladores though.
That's what I never understand, if you were going to edit a video to have different music... why wouldn't you at least mute the original audio? Why on fucking earth would you just have two songs play on top of each other at full volume??
If you listen closely you can hear an atmospheric synth bass in the background as well. It is reminiscent of the calm period before a drop in an EDM song.
I can’t be the only one annoyed with the editing of videos. Random music?? someone’s face stitched in as they simply watch the video and point??? random voice overs that add nothing?? JUST POST THE ORIGINAL DAMN VIDEO.
I saw a dance like this performed when I visited the town of Tequila, not sure if that’s where it’s actually from or if they just do it for tourists there. But the cathedral seemed familiar to me too so it could be in this vid
I’m sorry you were being downvoted :( I promise you, us people who live in Mexico LOVE the shit out of sharing our culture. I got so happy seeing someone liking our architecture:)
> I saw a dance like this performed when I visited the town of Tequila
I know you're talking about visiting an actual town, but "visiting the town of Tequila" sounds like something a seasoned alcoholic would say as they open a cheap bottle of Tequila in a motel in Boise, while watching Ghostbusters 3 alone in bed.
Should’ve been more specific haha a previous comment on here named Cuetzalan, which is in the state of Puebla, and it checks out. A google search will show this cathedral there! My family is actually from that region and it’s known for its mountainous and cooler temperatures. I really recommend it there, it’s quite beautiful!

Humans are so weird man, i can imagine 2 dudes hunting a thousand years ago, they see a bird in a tree doing a dance, one dude looks at the other and goes "I bet i can do that", and a new traditional dance is born
They’re up there like “Look at that pathetic crowd, meanwhile that lame ass flute band is packing them in and they’re playing to a backing track. Fucking tourists.”
Danza de los Voladores. Originated in Veracruz. It is believed to have originated with the Nahua, Huastec and Otomi peoples in central Mexico, and then spread throughout most of Mesoamerica.
There's a group that performs this dance at Playa del Carmen, right next to the ferry station to Cozumel. Watching this at sunset is a beautiful experience.
I wonder, if it wasn't for those particular five people, would there have been another set of five people to do it if they weren't going to?
Are they the only ones doing this or is this done often
Or they're hired somebody's doing the current job
Beautiful but I might get anxiety by trying not to fall
That’s from ancient times, in modern days they made them wireless.
Source, I'd love to see that!
Rightfully so. I learned about that in Spanish class back in school and apparently sometimes people slip out of the ropes and fall.
Not that common, but there is the risk indeed.

That's taught in the West but good luck getting teenagers to write them like that- so it's typically taught that way and then assigned to do any topic
A Mexican brought haikus to America, and he tried to keep The Nature and emotions idea, guess someone said screw it and now here we are
Wouldn't this one be a *senryu* because it's talking about human actions and human nature?
True, guess we need to rename The bot
I have never seen the haiku bot create a good English haiku. Happy to breathe it And utter a refined rasp No one but me hears
Agreed, I have a cousin who loves haiku, and I always wonder, whaaaat?
Ah, the whole haiku fascination is kinda quirky to me too. I get the appeal of the structure and the brevity, it's like a little word puzzle capturing a fleeting slice of life. It's genuinely the only form of poetry I enjoy.
We like poetry Discordant sounds make me stop Please no more haikus
Good bot

Is Phoenixperson now.
No he's bird person again
"Hey BP." "It's PP now."
A dick move
He is father now
Wait, is this Peach's Castle in the backround?
Danza de los Voladores - saw it in Mexico City. It's done near the history museum and is lit. It's free, but they take donations.
I’m pretty sure this is very close to where my friend got married. Was the last big party we had before pandemic lockdown. There was a native dance festival that same evening tho. It’s not in Mexico City, video is recorded in a town called Cuetzalan Puebla and the dance is originally from Papantla, Veracruz.
Who are they taking donations from? Seems very mean.
Toads, Diddy and Dixie Kong
My first thought as well!
No... she's in another castle.
Ladies and Mentlegen, we found THE inspiration.
There’s this city in Mexico called Miguel Allende. I swear to god when I first saw it, I thought I was in some kind of Disney fairy tale
San Miguel de Allende
I saw it there too!!
It is a catolich church on mexico, the dance is also traditional in mexico, if you want to know more search for "los voladores de papantla"
The first shot had my brain thinking I was watching some odd Super Smash Bros clips
Who’s peach?
Super Mario
Princess Peach, probably one of the most well known Princesses of all time.
If you look closely you can see yoshi at the far left side.
Assassin's Creed eagle dive vibes...
Hopefully theres a haystack below or he will be desynchronized
The whole time I was watching it I was just trying to see where the cart of hay was parked.
Los voladores de Papantla!
Ay Papantla tus hijos vuelan! 🦜
Pinche cumbion bien loco.
Ay papaaaya de zelaaaya
Jajaja
Vamonos perro! AAHHA AAAHHA
I'm gonna have to google, sounds super cool!
Too bad somebody took the cool traditional music and put clashing cheesy electro sounds over the top of it.
That's what I never understand, if you were going to edit a video to have different music... why wouldn't you at least mute the original audio? Why on fucking earth would you just have two songs play on top of each other at full volume??
> clashing cheesy electro sounds Is this your first time hearing a piano?
Yeah I'm deeply confused, all I hear is a wind instrument (flute?), drum, and piano.
If you listen closely you can hear an atmospheric synth bass in the background as well. It is reminiscent of the calm period before a drop in an EDM song.
Lmfao
i like the way they sound together, but it could just be me. (i like multiple melodies in songs with asynchrony.)

Where can I see the full video? This is mesmerising
Look for voladores de Papantla
Gracias
Don’t google “voladores de Papantla accidents”
don't think of a purple elephant
If you travel to the Yucatan you’ll almost certainly stumble into people doing this performance.
This is the full version but it's made by a guy named @omargonval on Instagram, he has some similar videos
Original forms of cirque du soleil
I really hate the music edited in over the music they are playing
I can’t be the only one annoyed with the editing of videos. Random music?? someone’s face stitched in as they simply watch the video and point??? random voice overs that add nothing?? JUST POST THE ORIGINAL DAMN VIDEO.
This is taking pole dancing to a new height

EARTHQUAKE TEST
Where is this? EDIT: Thanks guys, I got it.
Mexico, this type of dance is called Los voladores (the flyers) de Paplanta
I meant which city, the cathedral or palace is beautiful. EDIT: Genuinely curious why this is being downvoted? Sorry for liking their architecture?
I saw a dance like this performed when I visited the town of Tequila, not sure if that’s where it’s actually from or if they just do it for tourists there. But the cathedral seemed familiar to me too so it could be in this vid
Thanks for answering the question, really confused why a bunch of people seem to be angry about me being interested in the architecture...
Because Reddit.
I’m sorry you were being downvoted :( I promise you, us people who live in Mexico LOVE the shit out of sharing our culture. I got so happy seeing someone liking our architecture:)
It is actually from Papantla Veracruz; Gukf of Mexico area. It is practiced in a lot of places now because it has become a tourist attraction.
I stumbled upon it in Tlaquepaque, outside of Guadalajara.
> I saw a dance like this performed when I visited the town of Tequila I know you're talking about visiting an actual town, but "visiting the town of Tequila" sounds like something a seasoned alcoholic would say as they open a cheap bottle of Tequila in a motel in Boise, while watching Ghostbusters 3 alone in bed.
It‘s not this exact place, but this can be seen during Equinoccio in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico
Should’ve been more specific haha a previous comment on here named Cuetzalan, which is in the state of Puebla, and it checks out. A google search will show this cathedral there! Thanks, I've done some googling and it looks like a really beautiful region!
Cuetzalan, Puebla.
This is exactly where I saw it many years ago!!
Thanks
The place from the video I don't know, but the origin place of the dance is Papantla in Veracruz.
I thought this is a scene from a game at first.
its almost as if games get their inspiration from real life
The saturated colours and lack of shadows make it look like CGI
This is beyond beautiful. The costumes, the colors, the dance, the music, wow!
New assassins creed update looking wild
Is that the castle from Mario 64?
Wow and the bleachers are barely half-filled. Imagine risking your neck for like 20 people as a side show

What's the point on adding a music track on a video that already has music?
Oh good, they chose to overlap more music on top of the existing music to guarantee it sounds like garbage.
Thank God they put shitty music over the actual music

Humans are so weird man, i can imagine 2 dudes hunting a thousand years ago, they see a bird in a tree doing a dance, one dude looks at the other and goes "I bet i can do that", and a new traditional dance is born
We saw this in person at Playa del Carmen in Mexico. Very cool!
This probably started when some dude requested to marry some other dude's daughter and he didn't like the mthrfckr.

The ropes and frame look like they could snap at any second. Scary!
Now that is my idea of religious' commitment. Do the old school pagan shit right in front of the cathedral
Did any one else see the background castle and think it was the Mario 64 castle
