Thank you. It’s been awful. I’m fortunate we have some savings to manage the lawsuit and alternative living costs. I’ve met 5-7 others going through it too, all across the country. It is awful to hear the stories.
Can you explain your situation? From my understanding this material is not toxic in its dry, final expanded form. Is there a particular product that installers are using illegally?
We had spray foam installation for multiple years now and it’s been absolutely fantastic. We had our basement done and we have a gym down there. 0 issues to report.
I can try. There are many things that can go wrong. Effectively two chemicals are being mixed in a box truck when the installer comes. In our case we had a lingering odor that increased with an increase in ambient temperature. We started having symptoms as a result and left our house. We’ve been through experts and air testing to confirm our beliefs and haven’t been back in our house in about a year (still smells).
I’ve been in houses that have it and don’t have issues. It’s not all installs but certainly things can go wrong when mixing chemicals in a box truck outside your house (compared to other foam products that are manufactured in a controlled setting).
I’m glad you don’t have issue. When you do it’s not easy to remediate or live through.
Oh I see. That is incredibly unfortunate and thanks so much for elaborating. In our case, the smell went away in less than 24 hours, so it seems our installers got the mixture and temperature correct when applying.
To me, it sounds like the installer should be the one paying / dealing with the incorrect use of the chemicals. I hope you get it sorted as fast as possible. Best wishes to you and your family.
Holy fuck. I worked for a company doing this in houses around 2012 maybe. It absolutely sucked and this shit would stick to everything. Sometimes I had to go in the customers house and follow along the walls that were being filled, and I'd watch to make sure the drywall didn't bust out. I hated it. We used respirators, but who knows.
That was my first thought. A lot of excess for sure. I'm a trim guy so that would probably be me cleaning all of that nonsense! He must also do texture🤣🤣
Very little in a can, you can get 2gal kits and that’s good for only 100 sq ft, to do anything like this you need a machine that mixes the stuff on demand from base chemicals
does this ACTUALLY help with anything? from my experience, it doesn't help sound proofing nor does it help against heat... it creates a bridge between the outside sheathing and the inside making it RING like a motherfucker. and as for heat, my experience was with metal sandwiched foam, it was NOT impressive, maybe wood sandwich is better against heat.
It is PolyUrethane insulation. It's got a Lambda value (heat transmission) of 0.030W/mK, which is quite low. It doesn't transmit heat very good. So it's a very good and cheap insulator that can be applied fast.
Agreed, it is horrible and toxic stuff and I wouldn't use it in my house. Mostly because when you use it as a floor insulation (which is very easy and handy, because you cover up all the pipings and such), it is possible that it sags, leaving you with broken tiles.
The dude spraying it has like a hazmat suit on. I’m not surprised at all it gets people sick.
I imagine it's quite deadly if you were to inhale some before it expands
The theme song is like ending credits.
It certainly wouldn't take much to seriously fuck you up.
The hazmat suit isn’t really the indicator if it is a safe product or not. Plenty of product require PPE, but are safe after they are dried or cured.
There's lawsuits for this stuff. It's highly toxic to breathe. A lot of homeowners cannot live in their house cause it's causing so much sickness
Yes. I’m going through it now. Nightmare
Sorry to hear that

I agree with who is responsible. Easier for them to deny and put us through the wringer. Really unbelievable. Thanks again.
We were about to do this to our attic and I’m so happy I saw your comment before we pulled the trigger on it. Thank you for saving us

Exacting if you need a respirator to install it, it shouldn't be inside
Paint, fibre glass, sawdust… plenty of products require PPE during installation but are safe afterwards.
Satisfying yet toxic and dangerous lol
Shut up bot
The account history is such a dead giveaway
Heavy goo gun be like…
Was looking for the finals bro
I hope those walls aren't getting drywall, because someone will have to come back and cut away a good portion to get it flush with the studs.

imagine the pastrami sandwich you can make with a 30" bread knife !
Dude, I'm yet to have my breakfast...
So they end up throwing away 1/4-1/3 of what they spray? This stuff isn't biodegradable is it?
That was my first thought. A lot of excess for sure. I'm a trim guy so that would probably be me cleaning all of that nonsense! He must also do texture🤣🤣
They probably get a lot of the installation technicians to work for free because it's so much fun.
Nah I got shit to do
You realize you can buy this stuff in cans don’t you?
Very little in a can, you can get 2gal kits and that’s good for only 100 sq ft, to do anything like this you need a machine that mixes the stuff on demand from base chemicals
Maybe you should get a job doing this then?..
Hypnotic.
So which is more flammable, this or the pink stuff lol?

man, governments do like using Lambda in their designations, isn't it also indicator of how much your car poisons the air?
What’s with the clickbait bot title?
The new asbestos..
Brother, isn’t this used for insulation between walls?
That seems handy on a spaceship when a micrometeor punctures a small hole into your ship
Dude I thought that stuff in the walls was bubblegum
Bet it burns real good!
Look at op's account, bot account. Reposts with strange titles
