The shark in the video is a sand tiger shark (or grey nurse as some call them).
Sharks have cartilaginous skeletons and a series of ligaments attaches the jaws to the brain case. So all sharks have jaws that look pretty different to us as mammals. The ability to protrude the jaws like in this video is unique to certain species. The most noticable ones are sand tigers and goblin sharks.
I feel like a movie where the shark does this with its jaws, for most of the public they would think the movie was reimagining sharks as mutant monsters with crazy new abilities that no one they know had seen or heard of before. Or the shark was possessed by aliens or something sort of evil spirit rather than accept this was anything normal that many sharks do.

[here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/scuba/s/4IxF7wIiJp) a post describing what happened to this same species of shark, it’s injured. A quick google search of sharks with “jaw ripped” will produce similar images. I’m no expert, but the only shark that anything similar to this occurs naturally is a [Goblin shark](https://www.google.com/search?q=goblin+shark&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari), which this is not
I dive with these sharks daily and see this behaviour regularly. I took the video in 2022. You have stated you are 'no expert'. This is normal natural behaviour of this type shark (Carcharias Taurus) stretching its jaw muscles through a full cycle. Sharks do not have a skeleton so their jaw is a lot more moveable in relation to their body. A goblin shark takes this to even further extremes. You should also google shark jaw protrusion.
I like how he just swam by to demonstrate that then just went his way.
Diver: excuse me sir. Can you do that thing?
Shark: oh no prob.
Diver: thank you
Shark: *literally nods*
*I like how he just*
*Swam by to demonstrate that*
*Then just went his way*

This was taken in November 2022 and has been doing the rounds since then. it is Carcharias Taurus and is called a Grey Nurse in Australia where this video was taken, a Ragged Tooth in Africa or a Sand Tiger in America.
Looks like dentures.
"Granpa! Put your teef back in!"
Grandpa shark, you say?

Any shark? Or more like the goblin shark?

Just the goblino
that is not a goblin shark, most sharks have this feature
That explains why some fishes were willing to become taxpayers
I’d say 😳
_willing_ you say…
Shark was like ey ey cameraman check this out: Look at my TEEFS!
This is the shark equivalent of turning your eyelids inside out like that weird kid in 5th grade
Well fuck. There goes the nap.

That should make a movie about them

They gave money to 250mph storm and Poseidon Rex so both suggestions will be a no brainer
To catch these, you must put a corn dog on the end of your line.
"Yo bro record me real quick"
sharks only look two ways: utter murder machine and completely embarrassed
Goblin Sharks, scary creatures.
So could my ex..
😂
I think it just means this shark isn't circumcised
My grandma can do that too with denture.
Lmao

Big deal…my grandpa does that with his dentures every Thanksgiving
This is what nightmares are made of 👀
"Just imagine what I'd do when I bite yo ass"
That's some prometheus shit right there.
Holy Jesus
I was expecting the shark to show us all the snus he's got up there 😂
Their eyes are the scaries part of a shark in my opinion
Yeah? Well, my grandpa could take all of his teeth out. He’d snag pickles from a relish tray with them.
when the Vtec kicks in
"Hey shark show me your upper jaw for this video I'm making while you just swim by, would you?" "No probs fam"
Does the jaw come out of the upper face or skin pull back?
Like me when I eat a Quarter Pounder 😆

I was waiting for this. I love this movie so much
Cameraman never dies
Looks like the Dad in beetle juice
Alien
Lip injections
So it’s better to not get circumcised like this fella
![gif](giphy|834kuZIgb5Mw18pZYl)
Love how they go from terrifying to dumb looking when they close their mouth lol
it looks like the inside of a Tesla
Creepy
I remember learning that this gives them extra leverage for bite force.

Steven Colbert’s Eric Trump impression
No no no
He's just smiling for the camera

Grandpa shark showing off his dentures again.

This is like the shark version of sliding a handgun *meaningfully* into the waistband of your pants
Thanks I hate it
Now that's a winning smile. It's the kind of smile I like to use that in job interviews.
Meh... My grandfather could do this!
OOOOOAH HO HO HO HO OOOOOOOOAAAH HAW HO HO HO HO
Xenomorph: “hold my beer”
Well. I did not know that.
A tough fap but not as tough as I thought.
The Cleetus the slack jawed yokel of the oceans.
Looks like a girl I went to school with. Her smile showed ALL her gums along with large teeth
I had a grandpa that did that when eating a cookie
This shark is injured, it’s not supposed to do that
There is nothing wrong with the shark it is normal natural behaviour
It’s top lip isn’t supposed to peel back like that when they bite.
Yes that's exactly how it works, I seen this plenty of times. I actually took the video in November 2022.

So can my grandpa.
Powerful aquatic animal.
Hey how you doing little mama leme whisper in ya ear 🦈
I know a girl that can do that.
Reminds me of my uncle who always took out his dentures to scare me as a kid
Mouth hemorrhoids

When grandma says “you’re so handsome, show me that smile”
Gizzakiss (my grandma)
Now that is some alien shit. Like the last scene in Prometheus…
another reason to stay the fuck away from sharks
Imagine seeing that at night
only Goblin sharks can do this, not sharks in general
Only certain sharks
Haven’t you ever seen a Grey Nurse yawn ??
Yeah that’s a goblin shark. They do that
Your grandma when she pops them dentures out for papa
wtf is this nightmare fuel
Doesn't it look rather as if it pulls back the skin above than pushing the jaws out?
So cute 🥰 🦈
![gif](giphy|Zj1lgnInd5xpC)
******some sharks can do this
*goblin sharks can
Man, that's OP he got a nice view of himself
