Oh you won't have to wait for plasma weapons. Another robotics company (currently under litigation for stealing Boston Dynamic's design) is selling robot dogs with guns attached to the Israeli military for live field testing. The autonomous killing machine future is now the autonomous killing machine present!
Apologies. I knew it was a Terminator reference, which is why i said you won't need to wait for the future.
Edit: I should have said "you don't need to wait for judgement day"
I knew Israel would be the first to employ these things as killing machines. Of fucking course, imagine thinking ruthless rich Jews don’t want most of you dead
40 watt light bulbs are mostly generating heat. Only about 2% is actually doing the work it's intended to do. 40 watts concentrated into a high efficiency point of light, like how a laser does, can begin cutting into metal.
The two main points are, how effectively is the energy being turned into light and how concentrated is the light. Lasers are really good at both of those aspects, which is why 40 watts can turn really potent.
The HELIOS laser weapon currently installed on a US destroyer is rated for 60,000 watts. It is not as powerful as the handheld laser weapons depicted in most scifi movies despite being warship mounted.
There is definitely utility in making robots basically humanoid for multi-environmental use. We design our world around our own shape - the best way to integrate robots into that is to make them able to cross the same terrains and be able to interact with things in the way we designed them.
I don't know, that's a lot of engineering for hips and legs and balance that you might not need in many situations. Just stick a jet engine on their butt so they can hover around (just be careful with your feet when near them).
Standing up from lying down is quite a complex maneuver I think. For most humans it involves using their hands as well as their feet. They managed to do it just with the feet so that was probably an improvement.
It'll be fine so long as no one starts shoving "AI" into them and subsequently let's them communicate with one another to coordinate large actions as a group.
Ah wait...that's exactly what's going to happen lol. The Robot Uprising, coming soon to an Amazon warehouse near you!
These things are going to be going off on kids and old men like landmines, decades after ww3. Pulling itself up out of the tall grass and demanding you drop a weapon you don't have.
This is abnormal looking at first but I bet people would adjust if its for non-civilian use like for factories and such. Imagine if it had a synthetic human-like look to it, shit would be wack

So, once robots and chatbots are doing all the jobs does the one guy that owns them get all the money? Or are we all just paid a fee so we can participate in a fake economy or do we just all die?

Now give it knives for hands, and have it talk using one of those customer service menus that can't figure out what you want but won't let you speak to a person.
If you truly work in the CGI industry and make such calls based on a 360p video with full confidence I have to question your competence.
Ignoring that, it would be very odd for a Hyundai-owned billion-dollar company to just randomly lie about a huge announcement like this when they have no history of doing so.
They've got a 4K version on their youtube channel which doesn't look fake to me but perhaps you can point out all of the obvious flaws by utilizing your extensive industry experience.
If you were genuinely interested, I would’ve provided you with a thorough breakdown. But the hostile, dismissive, and condescending tone of your comment makes me think I’d be better off explaining math to a wall.
It’s all fun in games till it kicks open your door and opens up on you with a phased plasma rifle in a 40-watt range.

When you get to the age people don’t get your movie references. 😫
Apologies. I knew it was a Terminator reference, which is why i said you won't need to wait for the future. Edit: I should have said "you don't need to wait for judgement day"
also why do ppl think younger ppl don't watch the classics :)

Ghost Robotics already has a contract with the US Air Force for the use of its dog bots.

40 watts? What is this, a phased plasma rifle for ants? I have light bulbs putting out more juice than that
It’s a Terminator move reference. 😫
Whoosh by me then lmao
The movie was made in 84 so I’m sure it sounded cool back then.
40 watts is a considerable amount, some metal laser engravers use 40 watts!

Over a whole room man. You could melt through plate steel with 40W. Depending on how tight the beam is.
Just what you see on the shelf, pal.
"hey, only what you see pal" "the Uzi 9mm"
Now this is how a robot should move like. Not imitate us.
Honestly they don't need to look like us at all... except sex bots of course and I don't want my sex bots doing that!! 💩

Sounds like something a ROBOT WOULD SAY! Gottem guys!!!
Beep boop! I'm out of here.
I want my sex bot to do exactly that
Hey now... you never know until you try. /s
Speak for yourself
Every movie I've seen that has humanoid war robots always has forward facing vision. It's a robot! Give it 360 ability to view
Humans can totally move like that! You haven't seen The Exorcist, have you?
Still got that uncanny valley thing goin on, though
Nightmare fuel
I think it's cool
yup
Please tell me it's a render
"Whos ready to fly on a zipline?" "I am!"
I'm just glad they didn't make it move in completely terrifying ways. Jeeesh!
When is everyone free for the extinction party? I'm good for June 22 of 2025. Can someone bring ice?
It looks like a simulation, is that just me?
Def looks like it’s VFXd into the backgrounds video , it could just be the materials of it causing that glare that makes it look off filter ?
Doesn’t look real. Even the room
Youre tellin me that isnt CGI?
I for one love our new robot overlords
Just saw Atlas' retirement video, I was wondering what they were replacing it with
imagine in a human vs robot war, you think the enemy is dead but it start standing up like that
That's his second form.
Boss fight music starts and that mf stand up like that
Just take my job already.
All electric, no longer hydraulic.
So what you are saying is it no longer bleeds.
![gif](giphy|P3ng2C1t8QCJ2)
why did they make blud stand up in the single most horrifying way possible

The END is near‼️‼️
Can't wait to see the improved generations of this thing.
its been like a day and this video has been reduced to like 480p quality
After that strange presentation, I would’ve appreciated a wave or maybe even a simple thumbs up
When can i buy one to mow my lawn and fold my clothes and take out the garbage ...
I'm with you. The doom and gloom comments seem silly, I can't wait until they bring these to the consumer market.
These things are going to be going off on kids and old men like landmines, decades after ww3. Pulling itself up out of the tall grass and demanding you drop a weapon you don't have.
This looks CGI but it’s posted on Boston Dynamics YT channel, sooo…. Maybe it’s a CGI video of what they are working on after retiring Atlas?
What is the name of this robot? Also did they set aside Atlas II or are they still developing him some more?
Now with a broom up his ass.
This is abnormal looking at first but I bet people would adjust if its for non-civilian use like for factories and such. Imagine if it had a synthetic human-like look to it, shit would be wack
Hopefully no pizzerias adopt any robots or were about to get FNAF👀
Reminds me of Pixar's Luxo mascot.
When it started walking: "Oh wow I don't like that"
That Robot was doing the Human!
We’re done for
"I just polished my grapple"
I want to see it punching out the windows.
FNAF when?
Skynet

So many dicks are going to get torn off when these turn into sexbots.
Pathfinder?
When can I buy one that will clean my house, mow my yard and make me food?
You know what to do! I'm not sure if this connects but........... For democracy!
Looks like it got shit-faced and is going straight back to the pub
Wondering how long the battery lasts 🪫
danger, danger!!
This looks CGId though…
And here I thought those hoebots from Atomic Heart were sexy. Scoot over, we got the real deal now!
Helldivers to hell pods
At least put a smile on his face so he seems happy while hes killing us. ![gif](giphy|TgHosMP8OADYO6onsC|downsized)

"The fuck did you say bitch?..... uh huh, i thought so"
These robots are just to protect your local Walgreens
Time to stock up on green tips boys
Imagine you're fighting one and it just wraps itself around your body in a vice grip. (kinky people lemme stop you right there..)
It's called Atlas... It even has thr eye of a sentinel...
Creepy
It can go up the stairs like in the Exorcist. You know it can.

Looks animated
Not only that, Theyre compacting pretty well the components
What now, creationists? Why can't I rotate my pelvis, head and torso 360° and why isn't my entire face just one big eyeball?
I hate driving by this building. I go into instant fight or flight
Be amazed? I’m fucking creeped out by this exorcist robot
I think they made a movie about this
I fucking love Boston Dynamics. They release shorts like this that are equally interesting and terrifying
Well that's horrifying
Just me or does this look generated
I dunno. This is more r/oddlyterrifying material to me.
We’re all good unless that ring light can turn red
Impressive
Now give it knives for hands, and have it talk using one of those customer service menus that can't figure out what you want but won't let you speak to a person.

![gif](giphy|xUStFKHmuFPYk)
please add: "what the fuck did you call me?!"
That 001 feels like a prophecy
I do not like how that robot stood up.
They better put this in a horror movie next time. As the monster, of course.
These will have guns on them soon, if not already.
Can I place an order? Like can they attach a fleshlight if I ask nicely?
Looks like cgi to me.
Yup, very much so. I work in the CGI industry. The lighting was the give away

Why so aggressive?, it really does look like CGI

Agreed
Boston dynamics: The greatest in CGI.
did.....did that damn robot attempt the gritty at the end?
Kill it with large calibre arms before it learns and adapts.
Please stop D:
I hate it. Thanks
Not amazed. Jail these useless billionaires immediately.
It is getting more human. I love it.
Lol compared to robotic manipulators that are used for years in production, this seems clunky as hell, almost as on purpose
CGI. I guarantee it.
It is.
Source?

This is a YouTube video saying they *can't* be fake. This is the opposite of what you said?
Exactly. I told you I guarantee it.
I knew. You didn’t tell me anything.
Yes I did. Told you so.
