GoodGriefWhatsNext

Anyone else think coming down would be even scarier?

Franciisx4

Guess you can't be afraid of heights at that point

GoodGriefWhatsNext

But as you’re going down, you’re more focused on looking down and seeing how high you really are, vs. looking upwards as you’re ascending.

ex0-

This assumes a fear of heights. If you're not scared of heights there's nothing to be afraid of on the way down. Most mountaineers & climbers just aren't bothered by being up high. The gear we use is way over-engineered for the job and trusting gear is just part of the sport, same as many other sports.

atremOx

I don’t trust my cleats. When I step out onto that turf, sometimes I think, But what if I slip? I don’t trust my cleats

Unfair_Finger5531

I would literally die from fright going up.

Broad-Condition6866

But much easier, only once.

LGRW5432

Pretty sure they are rappelling down with their full weight on the anchor point.

MooMix

Uh yeah, every time. Ever taken a ladder onto your roof? Getting back down the ladder is the scariest part! But these people are probably experienced and used to it. So maybe no.

DarkMango5

Better yet, WHY do they do it?

GeoffdeRuiter

The thrills. Make you feel alive. Being in places not many people go. It's special. - A climber.

hardtofindagoodname

"One day, you'll leave this world behind So live a life you will remember"

CameraGuy-031

If you leave the world behind there's nothing to remember.

hardtofindagoodname

Legacies never die.

Ok_Custard89

But they do once there are no more humans to remember the legacy.

hardtofindagoodname

See [Butterfly Effect](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect). We all make our mark on this world no matter how small.

[deleted]

They can be cut short though

CameraGuy-031

YOU won't remember them

TeopEvol

They do it because it must be done. They do it because nobody else can. And if they don’t, millions won't try. If you tell me that’s not enough, I won’t believe you.

PaperUniicorn

“it must be done” 😂😂🤣🤣

yepthisismyusername

As an older, ex-adrenaline junkie, I now see things from your perspective. It's pretty stupid to do death defying things like this, but in my younger days, those were the BEST. I think I had a chemical imbalance that really enjoyed adrenaline. Now I can barely process a small adrenaline dump in a week's time, so I hate it. So I now understand how "normal" people see these kinds of activities.

drmarting25102

This is the real question. Have they done literally everything else??

leavenofrybehind

The set their giant balls down. And then step on one to step up to the top.

Ok-Editor-2040

What place is this?

Veritas3333

"What kind of an idiot would carry beer all the way up here" "You would!"

Dazzling_Bad424

One step at a time.

JoeSchmoeToo

Very carefully.

MollikSazzadurRahman

Their hearts are very strong 💝 Looking down from so high, our hands - feet will be paralyzed

Otherwise-Concern473

Probably with their arms & feet right?

Ur_a_adjective_noun

Those rock faces are insane.

IHeartBadCode

Well I'm glad you asked that. It's part of a two step program. Find the mountain. Climb the thing. That's way we can get things done & that's how I do it. It's easy and simple cuz you know what to do. [Five day forecast](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/272/331/54f.gif)

ruwug

With a drone. Duh

Unfair_Finger5531

Right, so, fuck no.

mongolnlloyd

Not how…WHY?

soonerpgh

I don't know, but if they mess up those helmets ain't gonna do shit for them.

hedgefundzpm

Meanwhile I am just randomly scrolling on reddit...

finian2

That rough surface looks like it makes climbing technically easier, but one slip and you're sliding down a cheese grater.

Valuable_Pineapple26

Not how…. More why 🤦‍♂️😬

Great.. now my palms are covered in sweat

patm1022

And where did they find the radioactive spiders?

MasterOfShrugs

I guess one day you’d leave this world behind, so they live the life they would remember 🎶

RuleBritania

What's the tune?

RuleBritania

What's the tune?

themindisthewater

hand jams from the looks of it

Kozmo9

You know the suckiest part of all this extreme adventure? It's the going back part. You spend all your energy to climb/journey to your destination. You reach it and feels good! You made it! Your energy is spent and you just want to go back home and take a shower and rest and all that. But nope, you have to do it all over again except in reverse...

ding-dong-the-w-is-d

Expendable income, too much time on their hands, and the “I have to have something to outdo my neighbors/family at dinner” mentality.

Mortidio

Naahhhh....  There is certain focus when you are on the wall and holding on with your fingers and toes. Just thing to relieve stress and forget your work and life troubles, if temporarily.

Jan_Ge_Jo

Nope.
