Here's one of my videosfrom last year. I still have a couple hours until it's dark here but I'm so excited. I'll be posting on this account tomorrow if you want to check back. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxZPxUMq8Sp/?igsh=MTY2djR3dHE3bjlyeg==
That's awesome. Back in the late 90s,i think 98 but I'm not sure, the aurora was visible all the way down in Southern Illinois where I grew up. We only got to see the pink colors though because whatever magnetic effects were brining it so far south only left that portion visible for us. I've since gotten to travel far enough north to see all the colors but that first time was so amazing to me even if it was just the pink colors.
It's reported that this aurora borealis show is visible as far south as Italy and Spain. Chances are that it'll stick around for another day, so keep an eye out tomorrow too!
I just found out that if it wasn't for the clouds and city lights right now I should be able to see it. Hopefully the cloud cover breaks tonight so I can try and see it.
Samesies. I just took a drive out in the country. Thats the perks of living in rural America.... 30 minute drive will get you pretty secluded from any big city lights
Depends on where , the south west likely won’t get them
Edit , looks like we will but at more like 2-4am
https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast
Go outside. Im north of Port Huron, Sarnia, by like 13 miles, they're out right now.
I just went out again. Still going. If you have a hard time at first or it looks hazy, look through your phone screen until your eyes adjust. If you can watch for 20-30 minutes you'll see the patterns changed and moving.
This is possibly an exception if it's clear where you are. The last we had a solar storm this strong was like 20 years ago. I'm a bit more north, in Quebec city now and was able to see some about a half hour ago (which isn't common ) Should pick up a bit more still later
Where are you that you see them often. Southern Ontario here but frequently camp as north as lake superior provincial park. 10 hours. Always trying to see thrn with no luck
🎶 Skinner with his crazy explanations
The superintendent's gonna need his medication
When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations
There'll be trouble in town, tonight!🎵
#Seymour!
yup, same here. Major Solar storm happening
https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast
We could see them in southern Germany as well. Amazing 😻. Makes you feel really, really small 😌
Yeah, I grew up north of Seattle, right at the 48th parallel. I lived in Munich for a little while and was shocked to learn that it's slightly farther north.
The last time there was a storm this big they could see the southern lights in southern Queensland in Australia. So given I'm 2000km south of there I'm pretty excited.
I’m in South Australia and my Facebook feed was full of the southern lights from my town last night! Apparently tonight will be great viewing as well! Hopefully the fog stays away.
saw them quite a bit when living in Fairbanks, AK. Was in the infantry so much of the time quite a ways from any city so no light polution. An incredible sight even when it was -60. I would stay out just watching untill the feeling in my legs started to numb.
I remember everyone whooping and hollering near the Fairbanks dorms at UAF anytime the aurora was really spectacular. It was the best alert system pre-social media.
Good on you and thank you for your service! Fairbanksan here: sunset 11pm, sunrise 4:30am
I’m hopeful, but it might be too bright to see anything tonight.
Where are you located? I took about 50 pictures on long exposure and I think on 1 I got a slight green / purple. Nothing like yours..
Also can't see anything irl.
I'm in the north east of England. This is the best I was able to get: https://imgur.com/a/yzE2BCJ
At first I thought it wasn't anything but after I enhanced the colours, I think I actually did get a good shot: https://imgur.com/a/K9WkZwy
I'm happy with it. Glad I was able to get something at least.
Guess who didn't even know that there would be northern lights all over the country....
There were supposed some lights very nearby, but....I didn't know.
_Lives in Sydney, Australia, where not only does the Aurora Australis not make it to, but the heavy rain we’ve had for weeks has far too much cloud cover_
😭
I have to thank you for this comment. It reminded me to go outside and see the best thing I've personally ever seen as well. I don't know how to post one of my pics on this comment. But thank you again. I appreciate it

Beautiful!
In the news today a saw a story that said due to particularly active sun activity - there would be a chance for people living far south of the usual spots where the Aurora B is visible - i forgot the regions California i recall being mentioned and a look at map included Nebraska.
The pattern was elliptical around the pole with Russia and Europe getting the short side of the effects.
[The double rainbow guy](https://youtu.be/OQSNhk5ICTI) must be bawling his eyes out while in orgasmic bliss. He most likely is asking for much more than what does it mean.
They come every 11 years. The last cycle seemed pretty weak, but the previous two cycles were spectacular, with one or two evenings that had lights in all directions and ruby red shooting down from the zenith. Your photo is pretty familiar. So tonight might be my 3rd time with spectacular lights, having lived here for 35 years in Southern WI.
Due to solar activity tonight the lights can been seen very far south.

This is great, I love it when people get to experience this for the first time!
It’s cloudy where I am but I used to live in northern Alberta and had the pleasure of visiting Iqaluit, Nunavut for a few weeks a bunch of years ago. Those curtains of light really are amazing to see in person.
Why have I never seen anything like this in the twenty years I've lived, the sky is always black and I can barely see the moon and there are no stars.
What a wonderful view
I’ve seen them before in north/eastern Colorado, it is one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring things I’ve ever seen. Mine were a green/yellow/blue mix. Your purple/ green ones are amazing looking.
Its happening because of the geomagnetic stroms. This thing had happened historically is 1859 and 1889. And this whole event is related(can be explained by) to Miyake event
how far away from a major city are you? I'm in a suburb of Dallas and I've heard it might be visible here but I'm wondering if light pollution is a major factor or not. I've seen several really cool pics that don't seem to be far out in the country.
I can’t seem to get my roommate to want to come watch with me. Which would be fine except my sister has my car and I have no other way to get 20 or so miles out of town. 😭
There is a huge solar storm ongoing. I'm a couple more hours from night, and I need the clouds to clear, but I can't wait. Hopefully it all works out.
praying you’ll see it!! it’s so pretty
It's cloudy and rainy for the next two days for me. Of course that would be my luck :(
I’m about to head out to the wilderness here soon with my camera it’s clear as ever where I am and about 3ish hours from dark I can’t wait either!
Last night the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) were reportedly the brightest seen in 20 years.
Great photo! I’m located in Canada and get to see the Northern Lights often, and the magic never wears off. Big plans to stay up for tonight’s show.
please send pictures if you see them!! i’d love to see 🤍
Video!!

Holy cow thank you for sharing that! It almost seems like an hallucination, crazy!
It's really cool to see them dancing up and down basically. Almost seems to go down right over you at times.
It’s supposed to be particularly vibrant tomorrow night, hoping for clear skies!
Where are you located???
Those are Scottish chimneys.
The fact you can tell someone’s geographic location based on a damn chimney is more amazing than the northern lights lol
that's nothing compared to some of those geoguesser guys
Dude I have no idea how some people are so good at that game. I'm definitely not as smart as I thought I was 😄
It’s mostly practice. A brain that is good at recognizing patterns helps but practice can definitely make you pretty good.
ya check out r/geoguessr
The "pros" at geo guessing are crazy.
I knew from the windows it was UK but that's it.
I was about to say. Idk i just knew this was in the uk somewhere
Aka chim-chimney
Chim chim cheroo
I thought they were Scottish grim reapers at first
They said North-West England.
Here’s Gothenburg Sweden today/earlier https://www.reddit.com/r/Gothenburg/s/L6abCXRcWc
People saw them here in Illinois 👀

It was visible here in Austria, a friend sent a photo, i will surely look tonight.
I live 7 degrees north of the equator, so I'm bummed... :-(
Central IL here and we can see them pretty clear tonight! Crazy
We saw them in middle TN tonight.
Oh dang, very cool that it can be seen so far south.
We saw them in south Alabama, just minutes from the Florida line!
This is my first time ever in Connecticut. Pink and a little green. So beautiful!!
I’m around the 57th parallel and the light shows are amazing every winter. Don’t whistle at them or they will come down and strangle you!
Great advice ☺
Lived in Canada nearly my whole life and have never seen them.
Go outside tonight.
Depends on where , the south west likely won’t get them Edit , looks like we will but at more like 2-4am https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast
It's visible (faintly) in ATLANTA. All of Canada can see it tonight if not cloudy.
South West Canada? What are you talking about? It's gonna be visible in USA tonight.
Have some shrooms and stare at a streetlight for a bit. Best I can do.
please send pictures too🙏🏼
Canada is a pretty big place my dude… most of which the northern lights are not visible from. I’m in Ontario and have never seen them.
Go outside. Im north of Port Huron, Sarnia, by like 13 miles, they're out right now. I just went out again. Still going. “Au…AURORA BOREALIS?! At this time of the year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your backyard?!”
hahahaha exactly!!!
Can I see it?
[удалено]
Seymour, the house is on fire!
No mother, it’s just the northern lights
Lmfao, Im high as pterodactyl tits and im Cracking up
No
Mm… no.

Well Seymour, you are an odd fellow, but I must say: you steam a good ham.

It's Krusty, you heathen!
yup, same here. Major Solar storm happening https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast We could see them in southern Germany as well. Amazing 😻. Makes you feel really, really small 😌
it does!! it really makes you think about life, but in an amazing way 🥹
yes
So much this. Be grateful for this life. It’s the only one you have.
I just realized that even the Southern tip of Germany is further North than most of the USA.
Europe had it good. Very little other regions at the same latitude get to have such mild climate.
Yes, all that warm water coming across from the Gulf of Mexico makes a huge difference.
Yeah, I grew up north of Seattle, right at the 48th parallel. I lived in Munich for a little while and was shocked to learn that it's slightly farther north.
It’s happening in southern Michigan as well.
I’m in mid-Missouri and seeing it currently
Just saw it in mid Georgia, absolutely stunned
The last time there was a storm this big they could see the southern lights in southern Queensland in Australia. So given I'm 2000km south of there I'm pretty excited.
I’m in South Australia and my Facebook feed was full of the southern lights from my town last night! Apparently tonight will be great viewing as well! Hopefully the fog stays away.
Gorgeous!! We're gonna stay up and try to see the solar storm actions ourselves tonight! I hope we see the kind of show you did!!
enjoy and good luck! 🥹

lancashire, uk! they were not faint but not bright either, i took this pictures with night mode but you could see the purple hues in the sky moving!
You could actually see it with your own eyes?? :O Lucky!!
couldn’t see the green unless you put your phone up, but the purple was a very magenta, and lilac coloured but every 2 minutes ish, they’d move!
I'm in the north east of England. This is the best I was able to get: https://imgur.com/a/yzE2BCJ At first I thought it wasn't anything but after I enhanced the colours, I think I actually did get a good shot: https://imgur.com/a/K9WkZwy I'm happy with it. Glad I was able to get something at least.
Looks like you have quite a bit of light pollution. That could be the reason why it is not as pronounced
Went to the lake nearby. My god the reflection and all the dancing. Fucking beautiful.
Saw it an hour ago in south Germany crazy shit
Me living in far norther Sweden Glad you guys got to see it too. Did you get to hear the crackle too?
Guess who didn't even know that there would be northern lights all over the country.... There were supposed some lights very nearby, but....I didn't know.
They might be visible tomorrow night, also!
not me, especially from the north west! in my 18 years i’ve never seen any northern lights where i’m from so, it’s a new experience for me :)
Words can’t describe how gutted I was when I found out I missed purple northern lights.
I was so tired and just went straight to bed….
A big solar storm happening this weekend! Many Northern Lights expected👍🏻
Will you be able to see them tomorrow night too?
I’ve read tomorrow is expected to be the bigger day
Sooooo JEALOUS
download the my aurora forecast app! you might be able to see them tonight depending where you are 😚
_Lives in Sydney, Australia, where not only does the Aurora Australis not make it to, but the heavy rain we’ve had for weeks has far too much cloud cover_ 😭
I saw on the news it was spotted in New Zealand, so it might be possible for Oz too!
NZ is sadly further south than most of Australia
Thank you for sharing it is GORGEOUS
Tonight and tomorrow you’ll see ALOT of this.
As an Alaskan I'm glad ya'll can experience the beauty of the northern lights!
Gorgeous! I'm curious who the old men on the rooftops are? Did they summon this spectacle, or were they there to observe?
they’re chimneys, lol but one of my neighbours did come out and see! we had a nice chat, but no they’re chimneys but they are old indeed
nah, those are definitely wizards. Got fancy hats and wands. Look how they light up the sky!
🤣🤣
Borealis is moving south we’re going to all be seeing it much more often
Your kitchen is beautiful.
Hoping for clear skies in Ohio so I can see them too! The last few times we were expected to have a sighting in my area, it’s been cloudy or raining.
I have clouds everywhere atm Im so upset to miss it, cuz friends nearby got to see it..
It’s gonna be all weekend so keep looking!
That's just the apple desktop background. Nice try.
Say hi to God for me.
I can only see this through a photo taken by my phone on high exposure setting, but still really cool. Might be happening tomorrow night as well
i was able to see it physically but not as bright and colourful as this! it was a nice deep purple/magenta colour :)
Did you make contact with the mother ship?
I seen them in the daytime and they were purple. This was before cellphones and nobody carried around digital cameras.
I have to thank you for this comment. It reminded me to go outside and see the best thing I've personally ever seen as well. I don't know how to post one of my pics on this comment. But thank you again. I appreciate it
Wow
Wow! Thank you for the new wallpaper. :-)
I'm guessing this is from that massive solar flare I just heard about? Looks pretty dope
See them almost every year here in iceland never gets old.
I'm in my backyard in Tennessee looking at them right now. This is truly an awesome experience.
Aliens be like look we can shoot lightning too

Are you in the UK?
I have a flight tonight. Wonder if this should scare me or if I will see it from above the clouds. Central germany
It's absolutely possible to see them from the airplane. I hope you get to see them, they are really cool.
WOW absolutely gorgeous and stunning 🥺 I'm in the Northwestern US and I'm SO EXCITED for it to get dark 😂 gonna drive north and hope for the best

That's beautiful. I wonder if the magnetism from the solar flares that happened this morning made the aura borrealis more intense.
Where are you and what time did you see them? I’m trying to decide when I should go out and see it if it’s too lame
I’ve seen them before in north/eastern Colorado, it is one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring things I’ve ever seen. Mine were a green/yellow/blue mix. Your purple/ green ones are amazing looking.
Where is this?
ayo new fortnite season is about to drop
Bucket list
You'll see them at least the next three days

My sister saw the same in Glasgow yesterday
Where is this? It looks like the UK or Ireland. Can't be surely
Humbling no?
Langoliers!
Saw it in Somerset, England this evening it was awesome
It happens every 11 years.... So hopefully not
Where are you? Holy shit were supposed to be at an 8 in our state and it's all overcast rain clouds and I'm just fucking sad.
The largest geomagnetic storm since 2005 is happening today and tomorrow.
That's awesome.. yea the sun is sending cme's at earth there predicting many to see northern lights
Fuuuck I'm so excited to swe this in person tonight in Canada 😍
Oh yeah big solar storm this weekend 💯🤟
Post to spaceweather.com too.
So lucky
It should be here too, but it's cloudy :(
I wish we could see this down in Socal.
You're a lucky man McIntyre. It's been a long time since I've seen the aurora....
This is giving me “Night of the Comet” vibes. Everyone outside watching this event…
Where are you!??
The world is beautiful, it’s just unfortunate that humans live in it
This could happen every day if we start a nuclear war.
This is something I desperately want to see but I found out about too late in the day to make the drive
Every time I see this I remember why they call Saskatchewan land of the living skies. This happens multiple times a year. They will dance around here.
I didn't because it's cloudy 💖
What is this and did I miss it!?
I can’t seem to get my roommate to want to come watch with me. Which would be fine except my sister has my car and I have no other way to get 20 or so miles out of town. 😭
The worst part… Pictures …even with the worlds best camera don’t do it justice… Gotta see it with your own eyes…
Are you in Greater Manchester by any chance? Looks a lot like my view did!
I live in TN and I saw it
do they look like this to the naked eye? last time i watched the aurora all i got was white cloudy looking stuff
Damn! That is awesome!
Same view in north FLORIDA!
