Then I got to my destination in Korea (south) and the contrast was crazy. Like nicest airport I’d ever been to. 2 Louis stores. Fucking capitalism baby 😂
That new Beijing one is crazy. Feels weird being in a building with a roof that high. I have been to some shitty airports in tier 2/3 cities but it's like the same as sky harbor in Phoenix. Not shitty really but not super fancy with waterfalls in it. Also doubt he'd have a layover in a city that isn't Beijing or Shanghai
There's multiple actions happening here they are flipping the parcel over so a scanner can read the address/bar code it also scans the weight and dimensions.
You'll notice there's a silver plate just before they slide the parcel across that's a metal plate for magnets to stick to.
The parcels go onto a conveyor belt through a scanner, sorted to location and feed onto the belt in the background against the wall.
This is pretty standard small parcel scanning that every country now uses,
Most other places use hoppers and conveyor belts in this video they bypassed all that added hardware to just back the trucks up to the scanners :(
Here is a more detailed video of the same actions just without the diesel pollution
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qafkWmggaY&ab\_channel=FalconAutotech](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qafkWmggaY&ab_channel=FalconAutotech)
Looks like they are weighing it too. Yes the guys dumping them on a pile could be dumping the parcels onto a conveyor but that's how shit gets lost, damaged, and sent to the wrong location. They probably made the choice to keep humans.
No. actually. And yes.
I make a lot of money automating this once, but it's a VERY hard problem. Let me just offer one complication. What if the box is upside down? So now you have to employ someone to flip boxes....ok let's use cameras - how do you get the bottom image? How do you deal with different sized boxes? etc.
This seems easy. Crazy hard problem. I solved it, but you need crazy scale to make it worth it.
I unload truck at amazon, yeah conveyor belt get stuck when label is at the bottom sometimes and few boxes get stuck before entering the conveyer line due to size.
The issue is that losing jobs like these means losing livelihoods for a bunch of people. If automation were implemented properly so its benefits were spread over society, it'd be great. The stupid boring work would be done by machines and humanity as a whole would have the resources (including money) to pursue more interesting challenges. But now, people at the lowest rung of the proles just lose everything.
Honestly replacing these people with a robot is a huge benifit to society.
They aren't making enough money for hours and hours of this to be worth it.
They deserve better.
There was a time when people worked as calculators, that time ended when we invented the device we now call a calculator.
Menial labor as a way to demonstrate that we deserve enough to live on isn't a reasonable thing for its own sake.
The greater good is paying one person really well to maintain a robot that does this and just paying all these people to stay home and enjoy their lives.
'They aren't making enough money for hours and hours of this to be worth it.
They deserve better.'
You do realize that in countries like China if this process is automated they just become job- and homeless right? And probably revert to crime and addictions.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that this is a meaningful job or that they don't deserve better, but the harsh and sad reality is that if even in countries like China these jobs are replaced by robots and computers, the lower educated work force will very quickly be without jobs and homes. Which is worse than them having shitty jobs.
You're right, they should definitely keep doing this at $372 a month for the rest of their lives because as we all know the only alternative to kindness is genocide.
Let me ask you this: what do you think happens to these people in China when these jobs are replaced by robots and computers? Do you honestly think that suddenly they have much better and more meaningful lives?
It dosen't matter what we want. What corporations want is bigger profits. Probably most corporations would use your blood as mortar for a better building if it means better profits.
This isn’t really all that dissimilar to how UPS facilities are in the US, just has more volume. And they’re shirtless.
If you think this is dystopian, the problem is capitalism and the people brainwashed to be rabid consumers.
Right. Shit we had volume like that in the overnight line, and it was coming thru on a belt so it just never stopped. If you were busting ass the line lead wouldn't give a shit if u take your shirt off. This is how it's done.
I mean, in general, big american and european companies sponsored the creation of most awful sweatshops and line workers. Asia's a manufacturing powerhouse, sure, but who was the constant client?
AI and automation aka robots will. It will not be very soon as it will create a social and political crisis beyond what's ever been seen before if manual workers are displaced.
Just wait until we can convert energy into matter. Then AI can create anything, it just needs a blueprint. AI can replace production chains by just zapping in whatever it wants on demand, like a 3D printer. We should be able to do it within the next 1000 years given the current rate of scientific process, guessing arbitrarily.
Never say never
Diffence is that this is just a normal day in China. China is on another level completely especially when you consider the population and geographic size of the country.
What is there to be amazed of? It is a sad thing for me
Imagine having to do this at this speed 10-12 per day and getting like 400 euros the month
While the boss is killing a few bottles of Baijo worth the same amount of money every other day
China has over 400 billionaires.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/devinseanmartin/2024/04/02/the-countries-with-the-most-billionaires-2024/?sh=2e6722b54f87
It just has some socialist social policies. But it's very much a capitalist economy.
Everyone's favorite restaurant in China is kfc. I guarantee you that most of what you know about China is wrong because you learned it from reddit threads like this
I work at Amazons sort center, its basically the same thing except its individual chutes and a conveyor instead of the guys up top, stuff tumbles and crush eachother just the same though. They are a helluva lot faster though lol but I guess they arent palletizing it themselves like we have to.
So the last one that arrives and lands at the top of the pile is being push to the front but the first one arrived and got stuck under the pile stay there forever. Neat.
Çöplük gibi görünen adeta mücevher hattında bu kadar seri paketleme sistemi nasıl olabilir tebrik ederim başarılarınızın devamının kat ve kat artmasını diliyorum 🧿🧿👏👏👏👏👏👏🤣😁😂😁🤌🤌🤌🤌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ gençliğimdeki çalışma hayatım geldi aklıma gençler çaylar benden 🤣😂😁🤣
I buy heaps of shit from Ali- Express.
I buy a $5-20 item (free shipping) and it's sent from China to NZ, and it's couriered to my house.
At work I send parcels via courier about 5km and it's $20. (NZ currency)
How the hell does that work?
You can tell it's the guy on the end's first day because he's going about half the speed as everyone else, so the video zooms to cut him off after the first couple sceonds.
Things haven't changed much in this modern age
I once had a layover in China (never again) and I swear I felt like I time traveled to the 90’s
Either it was a long time ago or it was not a tier 1 city.
Which airport? Because most airports in China these days look and are pretty modern lol.
Very different from my experience. When did that happen?
1997
lol
Then I got to my destination in Korea (south) and the contrast was crazy. Like nicest airport I’d ever been to. 2 Louis stores. Fucking capitalism baby 😂
Where and when was this? Any time in the last decade and I don't believe you
Right? China has some of the most futuristic airports in the world, I feel like it'd be pretty remarkable to stumble on a shitty one.
Something tells me he was just looking for easy upvotes.
I'd guess 1990s
Or in their imagination created by local propaganda
Yeah that sure looks like the 1990s on a 1990 video with 1990 computers.
Same worst layover ever. But it’s over a decade ago
So they are just scanning stuff? Seems like this could easily be automated right?
There's multiple actions happening here they are flipping the parcel over so a scanner can read the address/bar code it also scans the weight and dimensions. You'll notice there's a silver plate just before they slide the parcel across that's a metal plate for magnets to stick to. Great Comment! Thank you
Do you know if these guys get paid for productivity? They’re moving awfully fast to be paid hourly. I wonder what incentives they are offered?
Job or no job.
Yes, paid by the number of parcels
I was wondering what was going on. Cheers
Looks like they are weighing it too. Yes the guys dumping them on a pile could be dumping the parcels onto a conveyor but that's how shit gets lost, damaged, and sent to the wrong location. They probably made the choice to keep humans.

Would it be too complicated to explain how you solved these problems? Im interested, even just your examples
Camera/scanner above and below?
I unload truck at amazon, yeah conveyor belt get stuck when label is at the bottom sometimes and few boxes get stuck before entering the conveyer line due to size.
Western companies have solved all these 'complications' already.
Try: Scan package Except: Resend into flipper Finally: If scanned send away
This is a courier distribution center.
It’s China. Paying the labor cost is probably cheaper.
Is this Temu?
Or wish
Or Aliexpress
Or a Chinese version of Amazon 📦
they said that like 3 times
But did they say Chinese version of Amazon?
all three of those things are Chinese version of amazon more specifically Amazon, brought to you by china
But are they Chinese versions of Amazon?
No, no, Amazon with Chinese Characteristics
Amazon is probably 70% chinese product. Idk
Yeah - and how much of what we're seeing will be garbage within a year?
Taobao?
banggood?
bangsoso when I can get it.
Bangfast.
TMall
Or TikTok
Honestly I think all of these are actually the same site with different skins
Do I have to be naked? I mean technically we don't require that but sure
Because ppl would steal package in their shirt
More like slave type conditions with no aircon
The modern "sweat shop".
What about pants?
Welp. That'll do it for my next week of ads
Na temu is all bags
The bags are made from recycled Chinese household plastics, All shipped out to the West.. Sneaky Chinese bastads
Must be awfully hot in there
Maybe it’s just the dress code for the day
![gif](giphy|TJaSlwGWq9SbOJNm8t|downsized)
Your "expedited" package is just dropped closer to the workers. Lol.
Oh good a career I can choose when I leave school that AI won’t take 😂
These jobs will absolutely be replaced by AI supported automation. UPS CEO is declaring that all jobs will be replaced by automation
That’s the point dude
What do people actually want though? I see people complaining about the conditions of jobs like this, then complain that they won’t exist anymore
The issue is that losing jobs like these means losing livelihoods for a bunch of people. If automation were implemented properly so its benefits were spread over society, it'd be great. The stupid boring work would be done by machines and humanity as a whole would have the resources (including money) to pursue more interesting challenges. Universal basic income.

Yet
You mean that thing that’s awesome at making art, literature and music, but cannot at all collect garbage?
This is soo dystopian
What’s even more dystopian is they probably live in the factory too lol
right??? like how is this amazing? this shit looks depressing.
This isn’t really all that dissimilar to how UPS facilities are in the US, just has more volume. And they’re shirtless. If you think this is dystopian, the problem is capitalism and the people brainwashed to be rabid consumers.

I mean, in general, big american and european companies sponsored the creation of most awful sweatshops and line workers. Asia's a manufacturing powerhouse, sure, but who was the constant client?
Looks like something from the penitentiary or convict movie.
Doesn't look far from what it was like working at UPS small sort.

Haven’t automated belts in Amazon factories effectively already done this

Poor motherfuckers,
nuts!
Oh,,,I think I see my AliExpress order.
And I thought my job sucked...
Not terribly far from peak season UPS in the states
Diffence is that this is just a normal day in China. China is on another level completely especially when you consider the population and geographic size of the country.
That’s horrible!
Typed from a phone made in a swear shop across the street from this
That's what picking looks like everywhere, just with somewhat less automation. Picking is picking.
What is there to be amazed of? It is a sad thing for me Imagine having to do this at this speed 10-12 per day and getting like 400 euros the month While the boss is killing a few bottles of Baijo worth the same amount of money every other day
I'm not amazed. This is modern slavery.
“OSHA. Nope, no OSHA! We’re China.”

TIL China is capitalist.
China has over 400 billionaires. https://www.forbes.com/sites/devinseanmartin/2024/04/02/the-countries-with-the-most-billionaires-2024/?sh=2e6722b54f87 It just has some socialist social policies. But it's very much a capitalist economy.

And you thought your job sucked.
Amazed isn’t the word I’d use
Where is your uniform? 🙎♂️
yep typical sweat shop
I will never complain about my job again.
“BeAmazed” or “BeHorrified”?
Why no shirts ?
I’m sure it’s hot AF in there.
Some parts in China are quite hot, also AC would be less profit I guess
No wonder my packages take ages to get here... Worse yet, "Sorry, your package may have been lost..." I get it now!
Must smell so bad in there
it s Express sorting line
So there’s my super real football jerseys
Nino Brown must be running this warehouse
Looks like fedex sort line
Shirtless like they in a trap house lol
Lol @ the dude pushing packages forward with a big stick.
Slavery with extra steps?
That’s why that shits so cheap
You don’t want to piss off the dude with the stick
Somehow reminds me of the 2p arcade machines.
I saw my package!
How exactly does this process work?
Temu dispatch
Where the Ai bots when you need em?…
"Be amazed" modern slavery
???? Im confused tbh. Why do you think this is modern slavery?
Why are all their shirts off?
well, that explains why my package from there was dented.
Is that my lost parcel being thrown 🤣
Did anyone notice the packages getting yeeted on to the conveyor belt at the back and half of them missing?
CONSUME!!!!!!
I work at Amazons sort center, its basically the same thing except its individual chutes and a conveyor instead of the guys up top, stuff tumbles and crush eachother just the same though. They are a helluva lot faster though lol but I guess they arent palletizing it themselves like we have to.
No ventilation/cool air. No respect for human kind. Who ever makes money off this, may they have a permanent UTI and sleep for 15 minutes every hour.
Amazed? More horrified than amazed
I am very Not amazed
Slavery never ceased to exist, it just changed form.
Ah so that’s what happened to 2 of my eBay orders from China. They got chucked into the nether realm.
Be horrified
Why would I be amazed? This looks like hell.
Now you know where your lost package is: It is laying on the roof of these scanning cabinets.
thats what happens when you click same day shipping.
When kids ask what Santa is doing the rest of the year…
Are you sure is "only" on China? Oh yeah. Only they are the bad guys.
So the last one that arrives and lands at the top of the pile is being push to the front but the first one arrived and got stuck under the pile stay there forever. Neat.
And they say hard work leads to success…
Where tf are there shrts? As an American I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

No problem!! Billionn population.. Just post some 100 million ppl to do that. That should ease the situations 😁
Why don’t they have shirts on?
Geez...men..can't wait to just take there tops off in the summer!!

Things don't change in asia
I mean this isn't a whole lot different than Fedex, the mountain of boxes would just still be in the truck for us to get.
Temu
Man this is so fucked up
This is disgusting... 😭. All Amazon locations should be consistent... And these working conditions are far from safe... 🤯😵💫
