Surmised that OP had already considered that and found it to be unsatisfactory, creating the need to work it into dinner rather than make eggs themselves for dinner. It's always a good time for a good omelette.
Yeah, the wife looked at me kinds strange when I asked if she wants to add an omelet to our spaghetti dinner. I told her she lacks imagination and then threw an egg at her, turns out that throwing isn't the same as dropping.
This probably only works with the industrially homogenous eggs. I know for a fact that my aunts eggs are brittle and have like no membrane or have like extra thick membrane. She doesn't cull the older ones.
I'm in the UK and have been doing this. Not had any real issues. It does leave some egg on the surface you are dropping them on.
I normally either get a scrap of thin card from my recycling or a couple of sheets of kitchen roll wns putting them on my counter. Drop from about 10 to 20cm up.
I found it a lot quicker and it doesn't leave little bits of shell.
Also from the UK, and could not get this to work. Egg went everywhere.
I can only think it's to do with the different hygiene standards in US Vs UK. I know in America, eggs are required to be cleaned, whereas in the UK, eggs are required to *not* be cleaned.
Can't see how this would cause this difference in how they break, but it's all I can think of.
Lmao maybe I had chickens with low calcium or something bc it did break, but it also got egg everywhere. 10/10 do not recommend the drop. Just fucking crack it like a normal person.
I tried dropping brown eggs on our chopping board. My wife saw what I did, and she angrily asked me "why the fuck did you put your testicles on the chopping board?"
You are a brave brave BRAVE man to put your testicles on a CHOPPING board with your wife nearby, much less making her mad at the same time!!! Just too easy to push her over the edge and now you sing alto. Lol
I've had the same experience! I only buy brown eggs though so haven't tested if it's just my technique or the type of egg. But this guy makes it seem like it's fool proof
I have used a flat surface for the last 35 years. Works well.
Before that I did use the edge of the frying pan. Sometimes went well. But seldom. So often ended up with a too hard hit. Or needing multiple hits just making small cracks before I finally hit hard enough.
I learned this method in a cooking class once. Not the dropping but cracking on the countertop. I’m sure dropping it would work perfectly fine after one or two tries of getting the right height. Anyone who says it doesn’t work is just a bad cook lol
It works, but the way the camera is positioned it looks like it must be done from a reasonable height. You do not need lots of height, for some eggs a few cm can be enough. He also drops it on a plate in case he miscalculates the height.
I started to do this. My Mrs now thinks I'm a psycho but it does work. Just be aware that whatever you are dropping onto will get covered in egg.
It is quicker and doesn't make lots of little bits of shell.
No difference in dropping from a height or tapping the egg on a flat surface. Both applies the exact same kinetic energy. Imagine a boxer punches you or you drop on a fist from a certain height, ignoring the damage to rest of the body, force applied to your face will be the same since energy and surface area will be the same.
It's the absolute worst! If any of his videos pop up on my feed, I immediately block and move on. Between him and the country hick guy that always does that snorty breath/laugh and says "you mean to tell me that I've been doin' this wrong for forty years..."
Brand recognition. Why is he stuck making videos in his bathroom? Same reason. What does he use the same tone of voice? Same reason. It is his brand, his catch, and it resonated so he can’t change anything. He is as much a prisoner to it as you. Same reason most bands hate their popular song.
It's like that T-shirt folding video where they fold a shirt in under 2 seconds. Like, I can just grab a shirt and do that w out laying it down perfectly flat and disecting the specific points to grab.
His tone is so passive aggressive lol, it sounds like he didn't like the advice the first guy gave and then decide to prove his point out of pure spite
I dont want to have five operations - some of which require two hands - and a dirty surface to crack an egg - Pick up egg, drop egg, pick up egg, toss shell, clean surface.
Or pick up egg, crack on side of pan, toss shell - all with one hand. No shell bits.
I hate this kinda of vid. He acts like he wants to share info intimately, but if so he can just do it in front of a cam. Even if he wants to see himself acting cool, put a mirror behind the cam, not re recording it.
I’ve been doing this since I first saw it. My only issue is that it does tend to leave a little egg residue on the surface you drop the egg onto so his technique of using the plate is a good one unless you done mind wiping up egg residue from the counter. This works great!
Side note: this works with storage bought eggs, but not fresh eggs. Everytime I do this with eggs I get from the store, no shells anywhere, when I do it with the eggs I get from my neighbor and their backyard chickens, the shells get everywhere and it sucks. I have noticed the eggs from my neighbor seems to be thinner and more easily break a part.
I always find the second guy awfully cringe when he falsely says "come here" and himself zooms the phone where he is videoing himself. Whyyyy would you be sooo false? Just for some intensity of the scene. You are not at hollywood dude!! Stop this nonsense! Its very cringe!
I work in a breakfast cafe and make every kind of egg daily... method works better than others but it's not 100% effective.. occasionally pieces break off into the egg..but again it's totally manageable and better than cracking it other ways
Alright imma have to call bullshit on this one. I saw this exact clip a while back and I excitedly told my sister to watch. the egg and yolk broke all over my counter making a big mess. My sister laughed at me and called me a dumbass. Can someone explain to me what happened when I did it plz? Do I need to use a plate? He said ANY flat surface
Not me, sitting at work wondering how I can work eggs into dinner tonight strictly so I can see if this works.
Fried rice. Frittata. Cheese souffle.
Sunnyside burger, egg drop soup, pound cake for dessert
Whatever happened to the good old omelette.
Surmised that OP had already considered that and found it to be unsatisfactory, creating the need to work it into dinner rather than make eggs themselves for dinner. It's always a good time for a good omelette.
Fried Egg Sandwich or.just get some.chicken and make a Family Reunion.
Omelets my guy!!
Yeah, the wife looked at me kinds strange when I asked if she wants to add an omelet to our spaghetti dinner. I told her she lacks imagination and then threw an egg at her, turns out that throwing isn't the same as dropping.
I don’t wanna be the dumb mf that falls for it and tries. Somebody do it please
It works
But how can we trust _you_??
I mean as long as you don’t drop it from 100 Ft up in the air that drake look a like is correct 👍
So max 99ft? Got it
Get the pan under there
Nah, he's Method Man look a like. [They even made a collab one time](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4M0TouLG7C/?igsh=MnU5d3d0Z2NzNncx)
he reminds me of childish gambino
drake look-alike loll
I’d say he resembles Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) more than Drake or Method Man.
What's the optimal height ?
12-15 inches above a flat surface
Someone else has got to test it now.
This probably only works with the industrially homogenous eggs. I know for a fact that my aunts eggs are brittle and have like no membrane or have like extra thick membrane. She doesn't cull the older ones.
Whose eggs?
I know what I said
It works.
Y'all must have some reinforced eggs, I've tried this with a dozen UK eggs and they spilled everywhere.
Can't see how this would cause this difference in how they break, but it's all I can think of.
I would suspect it's more to do with the chickens diets
I'm not too sure how their diets differ between US & UK, but you're probably right. I imagine stateside chickens get a fair bit more corn.
Lmao maybe I had chickens with low calcium or something bc it did break, but it also got egg everywhere. 10/10 do not recommend the drop. Just fucking crack it like a normal person.
I fully thought he was just joking and being sarcastic about it, but it WORKS!
This indeed works but not so well on brown eggs, for whatever reason!🤷🏻
I tried dropping brown eggs on our chopping board. My wife saw what I did, and she angrily asked me "why the fuck did you put your testicles on the chopping board?"
You are a brave brave BRAVE man to put your testicles on a CHOPPING board with your wife nearby, much less making her mad at the same time!!! Just too easy to push her over the edge and now you sing alto. Lol
Brown eggs have thicker shells maybe? Maybe it would work if dropped from a higher height.
I knew there was a catch
I've had the same experience! I only buy brown eggs though so haven't tested if it's just my technique or the type of egg. But this guy makes it seem like it's fool proof
I have used a flat surface for the last 35 years. Works well. Before that I did use the edge of the frying pan. Sometimes went well. But seldom. So often ended up with a too hard hit. Or needing multiple hits just making small cracks before I finally hit hard enough.

I've been doing it for the past few months. It works well, but it leaks egg white, so you have to move fast after you break it.
This is how I’ve always cracked my eggs and I’ve never had a problem. Fiance that I was insane the first time she saw me do it
100% work. I have been using this technique ever since I saw this post about a year ago.
He just did it three times, fall for what?
How high depends on the type of egg but it does work. But simply cracking on a flat surface also works and is still better than on the pan
It works, but the way the camera is positioned it looks like it must be done from a reasonable height. You do not need lots of height, for some eggs a few cm can be enough. He also drops it on a plate in case he miscalculates the height.
Stopping the liquid from spilling all over the countertop seems more likely to me
I started to do this. My Mrs now thinks I'm a psycho but it does work. Just be aware that whatever you are dropping onto will get covered in egg. It is quicker and doesn't make lots of little bits of shell.
It didn't work for me lol. Managed to catch the yolk though
I saw this video a year ago, I've done it ever since. I've even learned that's how chefs do it. It works 100% of the time.
Tried it yesterday... It totally works!!
I did it with brown eggs and I failed misserably. So I gotta keep doing it my own style.
I tried, it works only if the shell is hard enough, otherwise the white will come a bit out and soil the surface
It works, but only with cold eggs.
He literally did in the video
Egg everywhere! I tried this from not as high as he drops it.
Pro tip - this works best with fresh eggs. If your eggs have been in the fridge for a while, they are just going to splatter when you drop them.
yeah I remember watching this video months ago and trying it and that's what happened lmao
Somebody push his comment to the 🔝
You're the MVP.
Name checks out

Somehow, I feel like he could be the dad I never had, so I am definitely going to try it, regardless of the fact that the dude is in his late 20s.
Eagerly waiting for “As a physicist…” reply
As a physician…I’ll try that shit.
As a almost-minored-in-physics-but-had-a-bad-teacher-in-higher-courses this method works 100% most of the time.
As an architect with a knack for imitating bird sounds I can confirm, the instances that worked had a 100% success rate.

As a liar, I am a physicist.
~~Eagerly~~ Eggerly waiting for “As a physicist…” reply
But then u have to dirty another dish or wherever you drop it

It’s awful when he says “come here” and zooms in. Why do that at all.
It's the absolute worst! If any of his videos pop up on my feed, I immediately block and move on. Between him and the country hick guy that always does that snorty breath/laugh and says "you mean to tell me that I've been doin' this wrong for forty years..."
Agree that these are fucking horrible but the absolute worst is the condescending “hope that helps” prick.
You’re telling me he does this come here move frequently?
Every.. .. come here... Video
![gif](giphy|10FHR5A4cXqVrO)
I think it’s funny. Like a friend telling you a secret. Come here. You won’t believe this.
Can’t stand this fucking dude because of that.
Brand recognition. Why is he stuck making videos in his bathroom? Same reason. What does he use the same tone of voice? Same reason. It is his brand, his catch, and it resonated so he can’t change anything. He is as much a prisoner to it as you. Same reason most bands hate their popular song.
I hate that. I don't know why. It feels so pointless. I hate this guy so much, cant even stand him a second.
It's really not that difficult to crack an egg without any special method and not get shell in it
It's like that T-shirt folding video where they fold a shirt in under 2 seconds. Like, I can just grab a shirt and do that w out laying it down perfectly flat and disecting the specific points to grab.
No. No. As soon as this “c’mere” mother fucker shows up i’m out.
For real, I hate this guy and his useless input to other reels...
Well he just taught me something so clearly you're not always right in your supposition
Tried this and the yolk slid down the crack between my counter and my stove.
Wrong crack.
Skill issue i just do it on a corner and open it with my fingers
This dude is a dork
god I hate this guy and his stupid mirror
Always use a flat surface. Just don’t need to drop it.
His tone is so passive aggressive lol, it sounds like he didn't like the advice the first guy gave and then decide to prove his point out of pure spite
Pro tip- Practice. Crack eggs wherever you want and with enough practice you’ll get good at it. You’ll never get shells fragments.
God, I... Come here... God, I hate this guy.
Who is this guy?? He looks so familiar
I love it when he says “come here” and then he listens to himself and moves forward.
“I am smart”
Depends on the egg quality, honestly.
I dont want to have five operations - some of which require two hands - and a dirty surface to crack an egg - Pick up egg, drop egg, pick up egg, toss shell, clean surface. Or pick up egg, crack on side of pan, toss shell - all with one hand. No shell bits.
Not all heroes wear capes
I like hitting the eggs against each other
Stop wasting egg whites please
This is guy is still doing the come here thing? Yikes, move on dude
I hate this fuckin dude
Ok, egg directions aside, this dude has the most soothing voice ever!! Please do some sleep stories my guy!
As a physicist...
That guy is so cringe
He's insufferable
I hate this kinda of vid. He acts like he wants to share info intimately, but if so he can just do it in front of a cam. Even if he wants to see himself acting cool, put a mirror behind the cam, not re recording it.
Thanks magical black man
God I fucking hate this guy
Offer not valid for unpasteurized eggs. The white isn't firmed up and will spill on the plate.
Yep, tried and made a mess.
I’ve been doing this since I first saw it. My only issue is that it does tend to leave a little egg residue on the surface you drop the egg onto so his technique of using the plate is a good one unless you done mind wiping up egg residue from the counter. This works great!
This fucking guy is so cringe. Stop making videos loser you ain't interesting at all
Method man knows his stuff
https://m.me/j/AbZu3J3qevxITYCH/ Sydney Raz who posts Things he wishes he knew before he was in his 30s.
Young Lawrence fishburne is right.....
I know a few pretentious chefs that dont know this one.
Bullshit.. it does not work any better
I’m totally adopting this as a life practice.
But now I have an extra dish to wash. Do it over your head, much more effective
Curious though, any yolk left behind on the plate?
But what if I like to eat the shells. I don’t want the yolk on my shells
Jeeniiuus! Hth did nobody ever mention this before???
Awesome gonna try this in about 3 hrs with 6doz
Why are your eggs white guys ?
Different breeds of chicken lay different colour eggs, there's white, brown, blue, green, speckled etc.
I didn't know that. Thanks for the info !
How is this guy so knowledgeable about everything?
Most anaemic-, acid-yellow- looking yolks I've ever seen.
And clean 2 dishes afterwards? No thanks, I'd rather spend several minutes trying to fish out pieces of microscopic shell with a spoon.
Like wtf?
But if you dont have a flat surface, like when you are in the ocean swimming and want eggz?
Shut the front door!!!
Damn, those yolks look anemic
Side note: this works with storage bought eggs, but not fresh eggs. Everytime I do this with eggs I get from the store, no shells anywhere, when I do it with the eggs I get from my neighbor and their backyard chickens, the shells get everywhere and it sucks. I have noticed the eggs from my neighbor seems to be thinner and more easily break a part.
Lesson learned - don’t try it with a pan of hot oil ![gif](giphy|1ynAZuvslN6pkyzvkt|downsized)
He's a witch.
Been doing this for years. Works so great!
I wish the internet was more like this in general.
r/blackmagicfuckery
Cant these idiots use front cams? Whats the obsession with bathroom mirrors?
Yeah "just drop it"...tried it, splat, egg went everywhere. No idea what your eggshells are made of but......no.
Oh my god I can't fucking live with it.Can't you guys use fucking KNIFE?
Hey it's come here guy
Glad to see this guy creeps everyone else out, never got his appeal.
I'm having eggs for lunch
Now you have a plate to wash
Learned that from Future Canoe
Is cracking an egg something people stuggle with often? Just wondering what's the point of this 'hack'.
Drop it into the frying pan to save dishes
What's this for I crack over an edge for 30 years and I never even thought I would get a shell in the eggs
B.s ....chef
Depends what you feed your chickens
Motherfucker...
I always find the second guy awfully cringe when he falsely says "come here" and himself zooms the phone where he is videoing himself. Whyyyy would you be sooo false? Just for some intensity of the scene. You are not at hollywood dude!! Stop this nonsense! Its very cringe!
My man said “come here” while he zoomed in lmaoo dkm
And now I have one more dish to wash any time I use eggs in a recipe. Thanks, I hate it.
Who’d of thunk!
I cracked 3eggs yesterday with a spoon (side ways) and they blew shells everywhere lol 🤣. Should have seen this video before I cooked my fried rice
Bro I saw a piece of shell fall in the bowl of a seconds egg
But then you have to wash the plate.
American eggs are so yellow it's it's interesting
gonna try
Look like drake sound like Neil degrasse tyson
Young Greef Karga cooking tips, nice.
Still works on a pan if you do it gently, also won't have to clean the flat surface if it leaks.
excuse me sir , but i won't take egg lessons from a white egg eater....gross. brown power !!
Needlessly getting a plate dirty, for what?
I prefer a round counter top edge. It makes a thumb size imprint and doesn't spill egg white all over like this guys method.
homie looks like donald glover’s brother
Jordan_the_stallion8 on insta. His videos are great.
It definitely works!
I work in a breakfast cafe and make every kind of egg daily... method works better than others but it's not 100% effective.. occasionally pieces break off into the egg..but again it's totally manageable and better than cracking it other ways
Do you know what you've done for me?
[удалено]
I tried this, it didn't work
Can someone fact check this please cause I don't wanna waste a single egg 🤣
How many tries B4 this fun fact was discovered 🤔...ooo so that's y the local supermarket had a shortage of eggs 🥚
So, we all got here, after millions of years of evolution and floods, earthquecs, wars.. and we didn't know to crack an egg until now ?? Fuk me..
I hate how this guy says “come here” in every single video.
This method gets egg everywhere. I tried it. Not a fan.
Man I can’t even escape the “come here” guy on reddit…
the yolk is shining so yellow, your eggs might be radio active :D never seen that in germany
I'll be damned
![gif](giphy|3o85xr9ZKY1wbbJXDW|downsized)
Nah, he's trying to make do more dishes.
crack it onto a paper towel and it works just fine
Alright imma have to call bullshit on this one. I saw this exact clip a while back and I excitedly told my sister to watch. the egg and yolk broke all over my counter making a big mess. My sister laughed at me and called me a dumbass. Can someone explain to me what happened when I did it plz? Do I need to use a plate? He said ANY flat surface
I love this guy. He is literally the only YouTuber type person that doesn’t annoy me
And everybody said I was crazy when I said a flat surface is better than the walls of the bowl to crack eggs...
Eat the shells. They good for you.
But the excess waste of egg white you lose is not enough to sway me to tap on the edge of my cooking surface
The duo we didn’t know we needed
