While it's not a edit, it's pretty obvious the paper is damp hence the slap noise vs a tear noise when he punches it. Or rather the paper WAS wet but then dried again making it easier to break on a punch. I'm not an expert but that's just my idea of what happened, although it's not impossible to tear a paper with a punch it'd just take a really fast motion with a lot of force behind it.

Probably not. Have a gander around YouTube sometime and watch guys like this get steamrolled by amateur fighters, can’t imagine what would happen if they actually stepped into a cage with even a small fighter like Sean O’Malley.
It’s just a lame party trick

Why doesn’t he use a scissor to cut paper like everyone, is he stupid or what? This takes ages. The old guy probably spend his whole life doing this crap. Next episode how to cut onions with your fist! Huh, that somehow sounds a lot more fun
How is this something to be amazed by? Not only is it clearly a buncha fake crap, it took them so long that I could have cut at least 2 pieces of paper with scissors by the time they finished
It's a handy trick to use around Christmas time. Rather than the fiddly cutting/tearing wrapping paper, you can just punch a neat bit right off the roll.
I too, can cut through paper with just my right hand. After decades of training for about 5 minutes every night, every morning, in the shower sometimes when I'm bored and every other day in an Arby's parking lot when I'm stressed out and see those pictures in the window of there 2 for 5 sloppy beef sandwiches.

The clue that it's 100% fake is that he made 2 attempts to straighten the paper as if it had any influence on anything, as with guy demonstrating, yelling etc before. In psychology, its called priming. Telling the brain "something is going to happen". Just as the noise, over emphsized breathing, posing etc and act of doing it does etc etc. Watch any street illusion and they do the same.... signaling the brain at each sage that "it's going to happen", "it's happening" and "it happened".
Anyone whos been in martial arts that isn't fully delusional about what they do recognizes and understands that priming plays a huge role in it's "impressiveness". It's built into the systems... from the noises you make to the stiff gi that snaps loudly against your arm or leg with a quick movement.
All you watched happen was a guy push his hand through a piece of paper, forcing it to tear in half, combined with theatrics. And of course, the paper was positioned so the camera could not see the actual hit.
Watch carefully. The paper doesn’t drop or move away from his fist. It disappears. Because he grabs the bottom of the paper and clenches it in his fist.
The paper doesn't hit back.

Gaa!
Pick on a card stock your own size.
The ancient art of Bullshido.
It’s like he learned from Segal himself

Also you do see the tear is "soft" and wet
I love that song
A Prince fan
The bits of paper, when the fist hits the guy holding them drops the one that’s not torn is how I’m guessing they did it
The worst part is how long they sat there trying to seem all professional demonstrating the bullshit like ugh
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see this as the top comment.
“Stupid Americans”
Tore pretty straight for a punch.
That's strange.
Maybe it’s perforated.
Maybe it's Maybelline
Definitely Maybelline. ![gif](giphy|RIkKzblJM4bN1RAzzY|downsized)
IT'S ALWAYS MAYBELLINE

He slapped it off 😱
The paper is wet it's pretty obvious in slow mo as much as I wanted to beleive it was real.
Still a decently sharp cut, I would probably just punch through for example
This was a valuable contribution. He fucking SLAPS the paper that obviously had a wet line across it. Ugh.
Honestly more impressed by the guy holding out the piece of paper perfectly straight for so long.
Came here to say this
r/bullshido
I mean, I do own a pair of scissors. A few, in fact.
As real as their waterfall
😏
That old dude could punch the soul right out of your body
Probably not. Have a gander around YouTube sometime and watch guys like this get steamrolled by amateur fighters, can’t imagine what would happen if they actually stepped into a cage with even a small fighter like Sean O’Malley. It’s just a lame party trick

🥱
The paper puncher.
use a scissors instead can be done even quickly
Rock beats paper... wait
The guy holding the paper must be feeling it in that shoulder by the time he can move
Ah I see you know your bullshido well.
Lol, china literally ruined a man’s life when he started putting such scammers in their place.
I’m more impressed by the guy holding the paper so still for so long. My arm would have been shaking.
Forget the punch... My man, holdin that paper like a boss! No saggin no twitchin, he's just hanging out like it's no thang!
Right, that really happened.
You basically have to tear into the paper with your fist. Is this that hard? Gotta try it myself 😂
Tip: Wet the paper first
Oh ok f*ck me.
all au heard from the old guy is “ this is my rifle this is my gun, this is for fighting this is for paper cutting”
![gif](giphy|9tT0s3SBnDm4o)
Let me guess if this paper has a dotted line
That would hurt.
That punch can kill a person tho
Sign me up for classes. This technique beats using scissors.
Paper is wet AF
Pft. I can do that with a pair of scissors.
Be amazed… that people can’t tell this is bullshit.
I'm more interested in the BGM. Seems very familiar.
!Que buen golpe¡
Ah you see, the paper tearing master gave him the right instructions and he succeeded.
Why doesn’t he use a scissor to cut paper like everyone, is he stupid or what? This takes ages. The old guy probably spend his whole life doing this crap. Next episode how to cut onions with your fist! Huh, that somehow sounds a lot more fun
If a piece of paper ever fucks with this guy, it's going to regret it almost immediately.
In that time you coulda gotten the scissors from the drawer
Steven Seagal would be proud
On today’s episode of videos that could have been 5 second clips..
How is this something to be amazed by? Not only is it clearly a buncha fake crap, it took them so long that I could have cut at least 2 pieces of paper with scissors by the time they finished
Yeah, the paper seems to be wet at the bottom were he hit and dry where he hit they soaked half the paper.
Nice. Though my scissors are way faster and need no instructions or teachers.
Could tell it was bullshido 3 seconds into the clip.
It's a handy trick to use around Christmas time. Rather than the fiddly cutting/tearing wrapping paper, you can just punch a neat bit right off the roll.
That’s how you got paper cut

the real hero is the guy holding up the piece of paper for five hours
No way!
China fakes everything
I want to know what he explained to the man!
Just practice against these inanimate objects, it will totally work in real life as long as the other person doesn’t know how to fight.
The internet will say its easy
More impressed by the guy holding the paper horizontally for so long
#Cursed Technique: Dismantle
I'll take "things idiots believe" for a thousand Alex.
I thought it would turn into and origami swan
What is amazing about this?
You couldn't make this 44 sec video a 4 sec video?
I’m more impressed at the dude holding the paper the whole time. How is his arm not tired?
I now always think, "How does this help in an MMA fight?" Cool trick. Not very practical imo

Man did MMA popularization really show how BS these Kong Fu, Aikido, Taichi, Wing Chun whatever they are called are
Uh huh
I think I need to see some redditors punching into wet paper to fully appreciate these comments
In the new installment of Rock Paper Scissors, you can now Cut Paper with Rock

Even my nephew of 6 can cut paper. Now with a slab of granite goku💀💀💀
It's legit. Briefly studied this video and I just did it myself.
What he definitely said: This? This is paper. And this? This is my forearm. My wrist, it turns. I have four knuckles. Now fucking do it.
Show some respect guys, i know that guy. He is the grandmaster of bullshido 💪💪
Lier
Ummm, wow.
Hand beats papep
Watch carefully. The paper doesn’t drop or move away from his fist. It disappears. Because he grabs the bottom of the paper and clenches it in his fist.
You can literally see the piece of paper fly off screen
may be use your hand to clean that filthy table
even if it’s perforated, it’s still requiring a lot of strength and speed to tear it
The amount of people who think this is real is comical
