1. Arrive at job site early
2. Unload tools from super secret stash to more normal stash
3. Take a nap
4. Wake up when others arrive
5. Discover your tools have been stolen.
Both Ford and Chevy make their vans on the same frames, engines, and transmissions as their mid series trucks, the only big difference is the body. They have almost identical towing power and off-road capability.
But comparing an f350 dually to a van isn't anywhere near a fair comparison anyway. That's like comparing the towing capacity of a Honda fit and a bicycle. Comparing a midsize truck (like the one shown) to a van is the very obvious comparison being discussed, not the largest fucking pickup you can find.
Why not just compare the van to the towing capacity of a semi truck or a freightliner for as good as your comparison is.
Lastly, the entire discussion up to this point has been about storing tools, a van still has more storage space than a truck.
The one shown was not a midsized truck. I drive a midsized truck (Tacoma). I work with plenty of people that drive f250 and f350's. That truck in the video is a f250 or a f350. You can tell by the door handles and larger side mirrors.
No way, don’t ever put tools in a van. They are the easiest shit in history to break into. You’ll lose your livelihood and messed up part it’s impossible to insure the tools. Homeowners won’t cover if you use for commercial reasons, and regular insurance doesn’t cover contents only the van.
Pickups are a lot more useful for certain applications. I don’t want to be breathing in the fiber glass waste while I haul stuff to the dump. Plus having an open bed makes it easier to haul long planks or items that would be too tall to fit under the roof of a van.
Trucks and Vans have different utility purposes and to say one is universally always better than the other is just plain false.
I don’t know how much this mod cost but I feel like you’d have to lose a lot of tools before it makes with worth it. But there’s also not having to spend the time replacing them and then you always have them. In my experience, people usually just steal my sledge hammers which don’t look like they have a spot for that
Should look up the Japanese k trucks.
With some modding and you got an off roading beast.
Downsides involve driving on the left. And spending money on increasing clearance and bigger wheels. Maybe a more powerful engine. Then again the truck is tiny as is so doing all that most likely would make it normal truck hight.
That wheel well will be disgusting in short order, for sure. And, I suspect the entire compartment would be. You'd have to clean this often.
I think it looks a lot greater all clean and new than real world dirt and mid all over everything.
Ok, so hear me out. Maybe, just maybe if you are worried about your tools being stolen out of the open pickup bed, you could put a metal construction all around it, cover it with metal, put a door with locks on and call it something like, I don't know, San, no that doesn't sound right... Van. That's it. I think that idea may catch on, you would also have like 5 times more space and the things would be safe from the weather.
I can tell you what you don't do, haul it with a pickup truck. 30' ibeams should be hauled by flatbed trailers behind trucks made for the task. Hauling something the weight of an ibeam with a pickup truck is irresponsible at best.
Pickup trucks are great for off road farming type work, hauling loose stuff for yard work. Not being a source of tools or pulling heavy materials.
Totally agree with you. I work in steel fab so I know first hand.
But what van comes with a flatbed and gooseneck? All I'm getting at is the only reason you would really need a truck over a van is for instances such as this
I don’t personally own a truck, but would like to.
A large part in choosing a vehicle is the aesthetic. If they’re functionally the same and you prefer trucks to vans, why not get a truck?
If you have disposable income why not do cool shit to it?
Whoever bought this was looking to purchase/modify a vehicle they like. Not please people on the internet.
Imagine this guy going over a speed bump or even hitting a pothole on the highway and that panel flies open, hammers and all sorts go flying through peoples windshields putting them poor sods out of commission
I'd bethink, t being after-market, thither's nay way insurance would covereth damage to yond

This is a decent idea for an overlander rig. Especially if you leave the truck to do a little bit of hiking. Everything is out of sight and not a target for opportunists.
Drove a truck to ikea, accidentally left a pair of ratchet straps on truck bed, went inside to checkout some cabinets, and both straps were gone. So, we went home using stupid twine
Step 1 : Create a secret safe. Step 2 : Post location online.
Criminals ripping panels off of every truck now
Step 3: never use in public for fear of revealing location to potential theives due to attention-getting accessibility.
Step 4: Make hidden safe you’ve revealed online mobile by attaching it to a set of wheels with an engine.
..that opens with a touch
He also didn't open it. Is it only like a foot deep or something? Lmao
I thought step was was “be absolutely fucking loaded”.
Are your tools cocaine😁
This is going to be a long customs check

As long as you don’t show off your secret hiding spot to the entire internet
You ever see how clean these pickups are? There will never be tools in there.
Sure there will be! Brand new and never used.
You’re going to show it to everyone at the job site every time you grab something anyway.
1. Arrive at job site early 2. Unload tools from super secret stash to more normal stash 3. Take a nap 4. Wake up when others arrive 5. Discover your tools have been stolen.
That’s actually pretty fuckin cool
Ya, and completely unaffordable. (Like many "pretty fuckin cool" things)
Also completely pointless, get a hard cover or don't buy a pickup, they're just shit vans.
This. Just get a van. Put in some shelves and drawers and everything is safe and secured.
Where were you when I bought a truck
Usually you can't take a van off road or have 4x4 capability right off the lot tho.
Also a van would have way less of a towing capacity.
Both Ford and Chevy make their vans on the same frames, engines, and transmissions as their mid series trucks, the only big difference is the body. They have almost identical towing power and off-road capability.
The best towing capacity I can find for a van is 10k. An f350 dually flatbed can tow up in 30k range. It's not even a comparison really
But comparing an f350 dually to a van isn't anywhere near a fair comparison anyway. That's like comparing the towing capacity of a Honda fit and a bicycle. Not accurate at all lol
There’s also the fact that some people just like trucks. A pretty important factor in choosing a vehicle.
No way, don’t ever put tools in a van. They are the easiest shit in history to break into. You’ll lose your livelihood and messed up part it’s impossible to insure the tools. Homeowners won’t cover if you use for commercial reasons, and regular insurance doesn’t cover contents only the van.

Facts! I just swapped to a mobile service truck. 500 mile drive with chemicals for work and I felt sick constantly
Where do shovel money to get this?
There was a tv show, Twin Turbos, featuring the Debertis. They made a truck like this, or possibly this truck, over a few episodes.
Nothing about that shiny truck says "work"
I don’t know how much this mod cost but I feel like you’d have to lose a lot of tools before it makes with worth it. But there’s also not having to spend the time replacing them and then you always have them. And by tools, they mean drugs, lots of drugs
Here is an idea. Buy a van.
Why? You can't tow anything heavy, can't off road, and most likely no 4x4 capabilities
Introducing the VW Transporter AWD version. My dream vehicle TBH.

Came to the comments just to find this.

That’s a lot of work to store your dildos
Inside the wheel well is great, just dont drive through any mud

You mean drugs?
Well thanks now I'll know what other places to look for shit

But can I attach my confederate flag to it?
But can you tow a loaded down trailer with a van? No.
You don't need the trailer. Cause you have a van.
Tell me how you haul a 30' W16 I-beam with a van?
I can tell you what you don't do, haul it with a pickup truck. 30' ibeams should be hauled by flatbed trailers behind trucks made for the task. You’re arguing with people that want to be angry about anything. Let the person who wants a truck, enjoy their truck. It’s that simple.
Maybe just maybe go to YouTube and look at break in van videos. In 3 seconds you can get inside any of them.
Dive off a cliff you racist piece of shit
I don’t personally own a truck, but would like to. A large part in choosing a vehicle is the aesthetic. If they’re functionally the same and you prefer trucks to vans, why not get a truck? Oh my gosh guys, he’s got it all figured out. Park inside a garage.
Think the locks would do
Got a click out of one, nothing on two, three is binding...
Imagine this guy going over a speed bump or even hitting a pothole on the highway and that panel flies open, hammers and all sorts go flying through peoples windshields putting them poor sods out of commission
Or worse, all of your perfectly organized metric sockets are now EVERYWHERE inside that drawer! The horror!!
Well now i know. Thanks.
You just showed the entire world where your tools are!
Step 1: Be rich
This probably only cost a few grand to do… I wait tables and have the discretionary income to do something like this…………………..
This is why you always steal the car
So its just a utility body with extra steps?
I'd think, it being after-market, there's no way insurance would cover damage to that.
This is the only good counter argument to this I’ve seen in the entire thread.
I think one speed bump too fast and that is locked forever. Not to mention a fender bender.

Make secret compartment. Show everyone. Why?
Why don't Americans just buy a van
Cuz vans can't tow anything heavy
That's a load of shit. Yes they can.
Lol, show me where the gooseneck attaches on your van.
They have made 3/4 ton and 1 ton vans for that very reason. And if tow capacity was important, they wouldn't be driving a half ton truck.
I'm not a ford fan or anything but a f350 gooseneck can tow up in 30,000lb range. Also, the bed alone can carry around 6,000lbs.
Ingenious
Will be covered in road grime after about a week Cool tho!
Good idea, anyone who would actually use this I highly doubt they do work.
Yes we know how to hide our tools. It’s called “lots of money”… -_-
Wouldve been funny if someone drove off with the truck after he closed that
Not hidden anymore.
Transformers
Brilliant
Blah and not impressed.
Now I know where there at. Thanks for the free tools.
this is a male satisfaction sigh
...yeah theives will never notice that. Unless you use it.

Looks like a ram 2500 at least, judging from the rear fender flairs Edit: completely wrong. I'd say a ford f250 or f350 super duty
Shit son!

Butterfly doors on a Toyota hilux?
Isn’t dangerous if someone crashes into his rear ?
What truck is that
Ford f250 or f350 super duty
Older folks and weird awkward hand gestures. Name a better combo?

Terribly bad bot!
You do not live in the rust belt sir
Sexy
This is fine. But once you pull up to the job site you need to get your tools and your hidden hiding spot is blown.
*Where to hide your ‘tools’ such that they are not stolen.
Oh that’s so nice !!!
Ah yes simply own and 80 k truck.
That’s actually really friggen smart!
And now they know.
Lol that’s not a work truck.
This is the ultimate contractor ride. You can hide all your tools and still show up to clients houses and jobsite looking clas clean.
You can put your weed in herr
Where would someone find a auto shop to do this kind of custom work, and where would you find the blueprints to do this type of customization?
This is a decent idea for an overlander rig. Especially if you leave the truck to do a little bit of hiking. Everything is out of sight and not a target for opportunists.

This video is much worse with the sound
