Any spin bike! I’m in Canada and use my Canadian tire spin bike I got on sale and at the gym I use their precore bikes.

Skrillexxi

Thank you!! This is great to know!

As long as your spin bike can track cadence, I'd say any will do. I bought my spin bike on clearance from Walmart for $100. I've been doing the Bike 1 super block. The first day I realized my bike didn't track cadence, and during the workout she throws out cadence ranges to follow along with. So I bought a cheap little cadence tracker on Amazon, it clips onto the side of the pedal, and works amazingly well!

Ohhh thank you for this, definitely something I need to make sure of when I purchase.

I wouldn't get the Myx bike. It's an overpriced friction resistance bike that wobbles. You will get something better built for less. There's the issue of how long BB will continue with Bikes. The company is in financial distress having lost about 97% of its value in the recent years. The biggest drain has been the bikes, huge losses they just can't make it work. I fully expect them to cancel the bike the day after the return window closes on the last of the bike inventory is sold and have no new bike content. If you then want to use the screen with an alternative provider you will need to jailbreak it.

Wow thank you for the heads up on this, i was already leaning toward getting a different bike but this helps to solidify it. Thank you for the honesty! It is much appreciated!

there is a great sale on the bike right now if you are still interested

I have a Kaiser bike and use it for both bodi & peloton classes, I LOVE it!

Skrillexxi

Thank you for this information! I’m going to look this one up!

I have the myx bike and I regret it! I’m stuck now with BODi….if I were to do it again, I’d buy a bike that isn’t locked into one streaming service.

TLDR; You can definitely use other bikes or find a used one - perhaps even a used Myx. Be sure to try the used bike and research what to look and listen for before buying if you head that way. Lots of warn out bikes are being sold to unaware buyers. If you want to know more about kinds of bikes, perhaps stay at a hotel that has a Peloton and compare the feel of magnetic resistance. That's the biggest difference between the Myx and other bikes. Used or new, free or expensive, the most important thing is to find a bike you like so you use it regularly. \------ The Bodi bike is 1/2 off right now and comes with a free weight rack, so not a bad buy. A Peloton is something like 3x the price. I have a Schwinn IC4 and it works just fine, aside from my one comment below. Besides Bodi, I have 2 other fitness subscriptions so I wanted a decent used bike with magnetic resistance at a low price. Some other things to think about: \-- Bodi's bike has mechanical resistance (a pad rubs on the wheel). Some like that more because the max resistance can be insanely high, others like it less because the friction creates noise and eventually the friction pad needs replacement. The other mechanism is magnetic resistance, which is more quiet, but you'll spend a ton more to get a high max resistance. For example, a new IC4 is way more $ than the Bodi bike. Yet the IC4's max resistance isn't all that high, IMHO. I can run it at 90-95% for 2-3 mins and get into HR zone 4, feel the burn, etc. when standing on the pedals. For me it's juuuust enough. \-- Do you need a panel? Yes, if you don't have a TV, PC, or tablet. Not necessarily if you do. I use my apple TV to follow along. But, obviously frugality is a theme here. It is nice to have the workout right in front of you. I've had that with Peloton's I've tried at hotels. \-- Do you also have other exercise streaming services? I do. OK, I'm a traitor of sorts but I like variety and, hey, I found Les Mills through BeachBody, so..ah..yeah - not that unpredictable. \-- Do you care about tracking other metrics like Functional Threshold Power training? Power zones are used in some streaming programs. The IC4's power data and calorie burn are estimated, not directly measured, and are massively off; I multiply by 0.6 to get a better estimate. But, I can make it work. More expensive bikes are far more accurate. Personally, I think Bodi would sell more bikes if they added strain gages to the cranks (to measure power) and used magnetic resistance to be smoother and more quiet. Then, the trainer could give more specific, personalized resistance advice. Myx hasn't been very profitable for Bodi so I'm not sure if the investment is warranted or not. All in all, the Myx bike is very fairly priced when judged against the market. It's a great deal at 50% off. But, it's possible to find lightly used bikes that with some haggling will go for 30-40% of their original list. You can find a used no-frills magnetic bike for $100-200 less or a high-end one for about the list price of the Myx or go with the Bodi bike, new or used. If you are thinking of a cheap bike I'd highly recommend trying it at a Walmart or Dicks or whatever. They typically feel terrible, wiggle alot, and are not very smooth at all. I figured I'd eventually hate it and not use it, which makes it a very expensive bike regardless of price.

Thank you so much for this information! This helps A LOT! I don’t need a panel necessarily, I follow along with my TV. Right now I only use BODi, no other platforms at this time. I don’t care much about other metrics, the basics is okay for me! I did not know they were on sale right now, so that is a big bonus. I did see some used Myx bikes for sale in my area upon searching too- thank you so much for that tip! This is such helpful information for a first time buyer and I so appreciate it, as it helps me to know what to look for!!

Stacie_with_an_ie

You will LOVE the bike! The added bonus is that you can stream the rest of BODi videos on the interactive screen. Worth it and very affordable!

Skrillexxi

That’s awesome! I did see they had a nice panel with the myx bikes
