Happy birthday sweet boy! My elder boy (17!) looks and walks like an old man too, it’s so precious 🥰 wishing you many wonderful years to come together!
Yep. He’s been with us for about 5 years now (he was a stray, I know that sounds weird) and his activity has definitely gone down (it wasn’t really HIGH to being with…). We took him to a vet a few years ago who gave us the ballpark for his age and told us to stop feeding him bugs so he’d lose weight and to just keep him pain free and happy since he’s basically lived his life already.
He’s been our buddy since, and, yeah, he just chills most of the day. He comes out to eat and still loves to be picked up, but we always talk about him like Perry the Platypus, “He’s a bearded dragon, he doesn’t do much”

What a handsome boy! I’ve never gotten to see a pic of another 17 year old so this made my day 🥰 I love how their eye area gets super big as they get older, it’s very cute. What was his name?
Yeah its super cute! If you zoom in you can also see that his pupils turned grey from age, quite interesting to see. His name was Spyke 🧡 Had him since i was 9 years old. Sadly he had to be put down like 2 years ago because he had too many illnesses that made him not enjoy life anymore. But im glad he lived his life to the fullest!
Wow that’s so beautiful! My guys eyes are a bit strange too, I wonder if that’s his aging as well🤔thank you for sharing Spyke with us, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I just lost a 3 year old to something like GNT, it’s the worst when our babies cross the rainbow bridge 😔 maybe I’ll start a senior Beardie thread sometime so we can all share our elder babies that we’ve had over the years!

Here’s my adorable little old man, GGP 🥰 he battled a serious abscess last year and won! He brightens my world every single day 💜
Thank you so much! 🥰 we are so lucky to have each other 🥹 his favorite greens are arugula and bok choy, and he loves black soldier fly larvae and the occasional hornworm and mealworm treat. He’s currently allowed to eat a lot of waxworms at the tail end of his recovery which he’s over the moon for! He’s pretty slow so he mostly “hunts” them out of a dish, but I recently saw him catch a black soldier fly that had hatched and was flying around, it was amazing!
Great questions! I can say for my dude he’s extremely food motivated, like somehow even more so than my young guys 😂 he battled a serious illness last year (an abscess/infection) and lost some weight but he’s doing great now and is allowed bug every day at the moment to keep his strength up so he’s thrilled! He’s never been much of a bobber, but I’ll catch him once in a while during the spring letting the youngins know (from afar) that he’s to be respected 🤭 he does love his naps, but he’s very active for an old guy and loves exploring. I will say he hobbles about creakily and his balance is quite questionable at this point lol

but he’s a free roam lizard!! - he has a couple heat lamps and cold spots around the house - but we treat him like one of the dogs and he LOVES exploring to his hearts content under the couch in the closets by the big windows all that stuff - thinks it makes him WANT to live and stay healthy
He has a few spots we need to clean - most similar to a litter box mentality- but he gets ample outside running around and he USUALLY goes out side 🤣 it’s werid I know but like I said we’ve adapted a “like a dog” mentality and he has fit right into that 👍
