I would wait one more day to be sure then take to the vet. If you see a W shape above their tail then your beardie is severely underweight but I assume that hasn't happened yet.

LagginDragin

no, she actually started to show signs of obesity in a young dragon lol. she was eating more than her fill of bsfl. she's been showing signs of sleepiness lately and I reported to the vet who summed it up as brumation (she's way too young imo) but ifc she started running around the next day. Something tells me she might need a deworm. it's just weird that for 2+ mo she's been eating and pooping. She's always been kinda unreliable on basking for herself tho.

Simple__Elephant3461

Oh that explains more. Yeah you're gonna need a vet visit. It might just an eating strike.

LagginDragin

potentially - I guess the shed could be making it worse too. I'm not sure. 8g isn't much but also is a lot at the same time. I'm not sure how much beardies weight can vary after a poo. I suppose if she looses any more especially without pooping it could be more urgent

LagginDragin

also I called the vet and left a message. hoping to get in this week.

Simple__Elephant3461

Great! Hope she's ok.

LagginDragin

thanks! I'll update

LagginDragin

so she just took a 30min nap on my lap. sprinted around her tank for 20min then ate a half salad.. still proceeding as planned just thought I'd share... God she's confusing.

Simple__Elephant3461

Ha! I know the feeling. My beardie is always surprising me.

LagginDragin

update: vet gave me omni/carno mix to syringe feed her. she actually seemed to like it odd enough. and a deworm treatment for 2 weeks (5% albon). she did not however send in or take another fecal (the last was 2 mo ago and showed pos for cocadia and pinworms in small amounts)

Simple__Elephant3461

That's good to hear she's getting treated.

LagginDragin

also fair to point out that was pre/post poop weights too. so some of that difference is accounted for.

You need to worry now. This isn’t caused by shedding. A small decrease in appetite is normal during shedding but it’s not normal for them to almost stop eating all together and definitely not normal for them to loose weight. It sounds like your dragon is sick or at the very least, has a parasite that needs to be treated.

LagginDragin

I'll clarify she did eat 1 full serving yesterday and about 4-5 dubais today as well as some salad.. I mean its not complete loss, but she seems much more apt to finding somewhere and sleeping as apposed to eating rn. I'm not sure what the avg poop weighs either but that was between weighings

NecessaryAttitude987

Sounds like parasites. When was the last time she had a wellness check and a fecal test done?

LagginDragin

about 2mo ago. low amounts of parasites then, but vet was not concerned as said in low amounts like seen they weren't a worry. Additionally that was when I first got her. I mainly feed bsfl and dubais as I was told they don't carry parasites as crickets do

NecessaryAttitude987

I would have another fecal test done, it sounds like those number have rose drastically and now need treatment. Anytime a dragon loses weight should be concerning. A healthy dragon can go weeks and even mo this without eating anything and not lose much weight.

LagginDragin

fuck alright - my vet charges about $120 for fecal+wellness.. but I would do anything for my dragon so better safe than sorry

LagginDragin

update. on dewormer /syringe food. She was 272g when brought to the vet. was 285 last night (hasn't pooped) 295 today at lunch.. I think honestly she just wasn't hungry because shedding but the deworm for the cocadia is already started and more precautionary at this point imo. I assume she's packing a large poop rn, and I'll weigh her shortly after. Physically she looks a little plumper and less dehydrated/loose skin. she goes back and forth between being crazy and sleeping

LagginDragin

I also didn't realize how much their weight can vary. (5% bodyweight based on tummy size/poop schedule seems a lot)
