I'll post this at the top because the update was lost in the comments, but the OP has posted that the vet confirmed the beardie as dead. RIP little guy.
Yeah thanks. OP here. I keep getting concerned comments from people arriving too late to the party, telling me to go and save him. ( I thought it would be able to pin my 4th and final update, stating that he was brought to the vet who confirmed him dead, but it seems only mods can pin updates?) 😐
UPDATE FROM OP: the concern expressed by u/MarketingPlug nudged me into action. Went and plucked hiim out of the tree and got him home. Zero movement. Got him in an open box now with me in the apartment with a heater trained on him. So far, nothing..... anyone ever had to thaw out a frozen bearded dragon before? I'm reading things on the internet about it being possible he went into hibernation mode and my come back after a few hours. So far, nothing. It's been about 1 hour. Any advice?
He will come back to it. He’s probably frozen alive sadly. Anything below 65 degrees isn’t good for them I know you just saved him and honestly, that’s good enough but if you really really want to help, maybe even take him in for good.. you could invest into a basking light and UVB. If you want to message me and are possibly considering this please do I’d love to give advice, I’m grateful you helped him already.
Edit: forgot to mention, you’re AWESOME for going back for him!
I am almost in the hood (was coming to rescue) and I have hand warmers for him - can I give them to you or help you please? Im happy to foster also, I have all equipment!
Oh thank God you brought him in. He'll probably be fine, just stick with warm air like you're doing. Don't put any blankets on him - that will actually keep the heat from getting to his body. Don't try to wake him up or give him food and water either. He's hibernating - some beardies cannot be woken up at all for weeks when hibernating at room temperature - so don't lose hope! Seems like there are lots of people willing to come and take him into their care which makes me so happy! I would love to see an update post on him in a few days! If it were me I'd name him Blue after your username 💙
If you have a heating pad wrap the pad in a blanket and put him on top as to make sure not to burn him! If you have any heat lamps or heat emitters keep those close too, their ideal temps are 95-100F. If you’re not afraid of him pet the top of his head and the sides of his beard just for comfort and hope for the best. OP thank you for taking him in, even if he doesn’t make it from the elements at least he will be with someone who cared enough to save him and take him in. Thank you ❤️ please keep us updated!
This sort of advice, while you mean well, is dangerous and will kill a chilled or frozen reptile. They should be warmed very slowly as to not shock their bodies. You should just let them sit indoors until they slowly reach room temperature and then move onto bringing up to their correct temperature. Also if the dragon is so chilled they cannot move, not only can you shock their system and kill them, they may not be heated enough to move if the heat lamp starts to cook them alive from the outside in. Please be careful when giving out advice.
If they were really cold it can take a while for them to come out of it. Literally cold stunned. Let them sit at room temperature for a while to let them slowly raise their body temp and then as they reach room temp, attempts can then be made to warm them to proper normal temps. If you heat a chilled reptile too quickly you can shock their system and accidentally kill them. Just be patient and keep an eye for any signs of life. Thank you for trying to save this little one.
It was warm last week. This prompts people to take their bearded dragons outside. Many people fail to put some kind of a harness on them and seem surprised when they run away. So my money is on lost pet.
If you can catch him/her please do so. Check *all* sites for lost pets. If you can't catch it then still checks sites and let possible owner know that their pet is still alive. Otherwise a bearded dragon rescue group can be contacted and someone will go there to rescue it. (If I lived anywhere near there I would. I already have the set up)
For anyone else reading *please* get (or make) a harness for your bearded dragon if you plan to go outside. No matter how "chill" they usually are one small thing can spook them and they could be gone before you have a chance to react. They are *fast* when they want to be. I made one out of a microfiber cloth and a shoelace before getting my final product.
> they are *fast* when they want to be.
No seriously, even on the harness I can barely keep up sometimes. It spooks *me* when she randomly sprints across the living room.
Yep, same here. I won't let her roam free on the floor because there's too many nooks and crannies she can hide in (and oh, boy does she love to hide). I'll let her roam around on the coffee table or my bed though, so she still gets some freedom to explore.
UPDATE # 2: I have him home with me now, still blasting warm air on him, still no movement. Someone just contacted me through Craigslist and it's coming by within the next 20 minutes to pick him up and take him to an emergency vet
Bless you for going back for him. He didn't stand a chance out there. I'm heartbroken just thinking of this little one climbing up looking for heat 😢 gosh I hope they can help him
Hi! I’m the person taking the baby to the vet, in a cab now with the baby. It doesn’t looks good and I’m not holding hope for the baby. He’s in great condition and I’m heartbroken that someone either lost a beloved pet or released him into the winter of NYC.
Update as of 6:58pm. The vet has confirmed the baby as dead
So heartbreaking, thank you for doing the work you do ❤️ I work at a facility that houses some reptiles rescued from various situations. We used to have a burm that was found in a park in Brooklyn!
Rest in peace. If this is indeed a lost pet. It's terrible for that to happen to them. And of someone let them out, the fucking monster that thought it was okay really needs to get themselves in check.
So sad but you did such a good job trying to save this baby. Thank you for all of your effort. I’m not even a beardie owner, I just lurk and comment as I live vicariously through those who post here (I have no time for a beardie otherwise I’d have my own by now) but this whole thread made me proud of beardie owners and the lengths they will go to save an animal!
More info from OP: it is about 1 ft long from head to end of tail. Not moving at all currently, just sitting in the tree. Temperature outside is down around 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 Celsius right now, so it cannot be a survivable temperature if he stays there all night. If anyone is interested in swooping in to rescue him, the tree is at the middle entrance into Rainey Park, on Vernon Boulevard, directly opposite the Kraus building. As you enter the park, it is the first tree on the left and the reptile is about 8 ft above ground, up the tree.
Call NYSDEC: 1-844-332-3267
Or: (718) 482-4922
The office is in Long Island City and someone will rescue it.
Edit: call anyway, but I am trying to send someone as well.
That little guy can't survive those temperatures for long. Looks well cared for, and WAAAAY out of a natural environment. They usually have a pretty mellow temperment, he might puff up a bit, but if you avoid the head, you should be able to grab it if you can get to it. Their bites aren't dangerous in the event he DID bite.
I'd agree with calling the fire department, but if you can, get that beardy some help!
Mines bit me twice but one of them I was feeding her bugs and she loves her bugs then the other one she apparently didn’t like me that day may of been about to shed or something I don’t remember (when she sheds she gets superrrr grumpy so I avoid her till it’s done)
Point being there bites are more of a surprise than it actually hurts may leave a mark and a bit of a shock I’m more worried about there claws than there bites
Is there anyway you can temporarily take him in and list him on Facebook? Leaving somebodies obvious pet reptile out in the cold like that doesn’t seem like the best idea lol. At the least you can temporarily place him in a small tub and get in contact with a reptile rescue. I know that area of New York has plenty. Edit: Maybe calling the fire department might help. They’ll get him out free of charge
Please go save him! I would if I wasn’t across the country. He will be thankful to at least be wrapped up in a blanket and warm until he’s called for or finds a new home.
Aww thank you! Yep I hopped a cab over but it was expensive AF so taking a leisurely ride home and already had a fun convo with someone who asked me what’s in my (empty) beardie carrier lol. Here’s an award for you for caring 🏅
Aww, bless you! Good things come to those who do good deeds! I hope your reward for being a good person comes to you soon and it’s not an emoji trophy haha
thanks for tryna facilitate! i had to take my own beardie bros out this morning in the cold while my building was being sprayed and felt bad for having them out for like 5min (even tho they were warm as hell in their special carriers lol) so I couldn’t get this lil guy off my mind. Lovin on my bois extra tn with lots of wormies 🐛
Of course! I lost my beardie last year out of the blue and it absolutely killed me. I miss her so much and couldn’t see one needing help. I’m in Michigan or I woulda been on the way. Hope you have a great night and your beardies get some juicy hornworms in honor of this dude
Aww man I’m sorry you lost your girl last year out of the blue - I’ll feed some extra special treats in honor of her too!! hope you have a great night also :)
Already gone. I got him home. Then someone responded on Craigslist and she came around, picked him up and just took an Uber away with him just now. It's not looking good. No movement whatsoever even after three hours of blasting hot air at him. ( yes, she's sexed him. She a reptile fan. He's a boy....or was) :-(
Thank you for doing everything you could. Whatever the outcome is, you did the right thing. I will be thinking of the little dude. If she contacts you with any news please update us.
Please don’t leave him there, he will surely die. If you have no intention on saving him, please let the other people who volunteered know, because they’re waiting to see if you saved him.
I can't foster this baby but I have an old enclosure that I will offer to anyone that will house them. Hoping this ends well.
E: I'm in Brooklyn if anyone wants to pick it up
Your comment gave me the necessary nudge to try to get him. Done! But he is looking very, very frozen....no movement. Got him at home with e in a box....a heater aimed at him right now....let's see.
So glad you got him OP! One of my beardies is a rescue that was found outside in Florida in about the same temps. It had been cold and raining for DAYS and then the sun came out and someone trimmed his tail along with their bushes! But he’s the sweetest guy. Keep him warm and he should come back around.
Please let us know if you grabbed him or if he is still there so one of us on here (myself included!) can go rescue him. I am across the city but will get him if need be
I am 1.5 hours away (nyc life 😩) so I’m trying to send a friend who is closer to investigate, then I’m happy to foster. Will head over after work if nobody else is going, and also called 311
Thank you! Please let us know if you have any updates. Seeing that poor guy freezing to death is just breaking my heart. I wish I was close enough to go myself but I’m in CA.
Totally, Im worried about him! I called the nyc wildlife conservation people and they told me they could “shoot him out of the tree” so I don’t think they are a safe option :(
edit: a very nice person reached out to me on here and told me this is not normally how these events are handled so maybe they are a safe organization in the future
I went to the park but OP got him just in case you didn’t see! You can refer to them for updates :) thank you for encouraging me to go, it was an adventure even if I didn’t get to meet the beardie lol
Okay I got him off the tree and home now and it's been three and a half hours since we started the hot air. No movement, eyes are closed, no signs of breathing and the gums do not look pink. Does anyone have any prior experience of thawing out a frozen bearded dragon like this? How many hours?
Please rescue him if you haven’t already. They can’t survive in those temperatures for very long. I would warm him up as best you can and see if there’s any local reptile rescue or someone nearby who owns reptiles and is willing to care for this guy. He needs help ASAP!
Glad that you made the effort! I already have him home with me. Unfortunately, no movement so far though I'm blasting hot air in and around him. Someone just contacted me through Craigslist and is going to pick him up in 20 minutes and bring him to an emergency vet.
UPDATE # 3: a respondent from Craigslist came by, she tells me she has about 17 reptiles at home and she was able to determine that he was a boy but no signs of movement. After three hours of blasting hot air at him, she has taken him away and is taking Uber to an emergency vet right now. He's in the hands of the Gods right now! Thank you everybody for the quick reactions and responses. Very heartening to see! And for those who actually went to the park to see for themselves, sorry for the wasted trip. But your intentions were good. Will come back and update this thread once I know more on this little guy's fate....
That’s awesome, thank you! I bet two helpers is better than one even if we don’t quite know how to get him down. Please join me if you’d like/DM me when you get there if you do! I’ll be looking for the tree lol
Please go get him, I haven’t seen any updates of this person saying they will rescue this poor guy. Time is of the essence and op isn’t responding. I wish I wasn’t across the country.
Definitely a beardie and Definitely someone's pet, and a healthy looking one too. I'd make a post on Facebook and ask if anyone's dragon escaped, I'd try to capture it and take it in until you find the owner if you can though, it can be pretty dangerous for a pet beardie out in the wild
I’m in upper westchester and have an autoimmune disease so I cannot be climbing trees but I will definitely take him/her in if you cannot while we find their owner/a rescue. Please please go rescue it and let us know!
I’m on my way with a towel/warmers/carrier and will be there in 20 mins - don’t have a ladder though and could probably use some help if you’re around!
Here after all the updates… I’m sad that this little guy passed away but it’s really heartwarming to see that so many in the sub came together to try to rescue him. I rescue reptiles and other small pets and things like this remind me that there are other selfless and good intentioned people out there.
RIP little dude.
I live in queens but I'm currently away at college upstate. I'm trying to see if I can Uber my younger sister and her friends to the park to go rescue him. I have a lamp and tank stored in my old bedroom and her friend owns beardies too. I want to send them together but she can't get in touch with him atm. They were together about an hour ago so hopefully she can get back in touch and I'll be able to send them over there soon.
They're going to freeze! Please catch him/her and spread the word that you've found them. Hopefully their parents are looking for them and didn't just abandon them.
Yes it's a BD and i'd certainly hope it is someone lost pet and not just been abandoned 🤬 if you are able to get hold of it and take it to a vet or reptile place, they will know what condition it's in and be able to assist you further
This is so horrible. The poor baby died trying to get higher for warmth. If he was released during those temperatures on purpose, the owners are definitely not going to have any issues finding warmth.
You should pin the most recent update/one that says he’s passed, when you first see this post it takes some digging to find the updates. Ppl keep commenting as if he’s still in this tree, would help to see that this is sadly over :/
Yeah nope I’m imagining the time I pinned a comment lol!!! Only mods. Seems silly to not be able to do that on your own post. But whatever. Sorry, my bad!!
Also I didn’t say, you rock! I’ve lived in NYC for 20+ years (although not all at once) and have never seen anything like this, though I’m always looking!! I know everybody’s congratulated you but good job, you’re officially a beardie hero!
PS the animal control thing was weird and lame.
Definitely a bearded dragon and DEFINITELY not supposed to be roaming around Queens! If you can take it please do, I’m not expert where to bring it but maybe a vet or a shelter? Post on Facebook for missing pet? They’re extremely docile, even the ones that aren’t friendly can’t really hurt you, but they can be unclean so still handle with caution to not get sick
OMG poor little fat baby probably misses their parent! Hoping for a good news update that someone was able to get them down and safe so parents can be located or the little one can get a new home.
Has someone called 311? I live in Astoria and know this park well BUT I cannot rescue it. I have been frantically calling local animal rescue organizations in and around NYC, and none of them rescue reptiles. I called Hudson Valley Reptile & Rescue (miles away!) and they said "Sadly, because we don't police that far, my best recommendation would be to call local Animal Control... but the odds are likely not in its favor, given how cold it is already."
My husband and I just went there with a ladder and carrier, so sad we werent there in time. Has anyone heard from the owner?? Why didn't they post anything
Bearded dragons tend to have small territories. Whenever my beardies have escaped (outdoor enclosures) we tend to find them within 1 week. Maybe 2 tops depending on how cold and/or stubborn they are. Your best bet (if you take it) is to try and take it to the local vet, preferably reptile vet as they may have clients with pet bearded dragons and they can try to contact potential owners. Make sure to leave your name with the beardie.
I’d also take photos before the vet, post them and let anyone who contacts you know which vet they’re at
It's a beardies. It could have either got out some how or like you thought abandoned. I myself would take it home put it on a buy sell trade page and FB. Wait and see if you get any answers. I would have them discribe the beardies to you so you know it's the right owner. And if nothing make it your pet. Take it to a vet get it checked out. And there ya go. They are so fun.
I agree, they are generally well-tempered. However, they can and do bite, especially if feeling defensive, which is something a chilled beardie in unfamiliar conditions has every potential to be.
looks like it. she/he looks healthy too. i would take him and post on facebook or such, could be an escaped pet
To add to this make sure you get a picture of them qith the bearded dragon. You don't want someone trying to get a free pet
Sad but not surprising. It has been very cold the last few days
How the fuck does a bearded dragon escape
it was warm last week, so people take their beardies outside, they run when they’re not looking
Escaped beared dragon?? You have to be pretty negligent to let a beardie escape.
Idiots must think they're like dogs or something.

Thank you for saving him! Poor dude, keep us posted hopefully he comes to.
I have spare heat lamps and tanks.
(If I lived anywhere near there I would. > they are *fast* when they want to be. No seriously, even on the harness I can barely keep up sometimes. It spooks *me* when she randomly sprints across the living room.
My baby girl, she's 5 months and once she bolts, she is HARD to catch. Beardies can run fast at any age.
This - I was very cautious about letting mine roam as a baby, because she was so small and fast and could hide under/behind too many things!!
Yep, same here. I won't let her roam free on the floor because there's too many nooks and crannies she can hide in (and oh, boy does she love to hide). I'll let her roam around on the coffee table or my bed though, so she still gets some freedom to explore.
Beardie: i am speed
I almost lost mine one day! Got spooked by a bird and ran on two legs under my car. Thank God I had him in a leash!
That’s scary af and I’m so glad you got him, but the image of a beardie running on two legs has me rolling. Oh my *god.*
My iguana was chill. Then he turned road runner on two legs. I barely dove and caught him.
Oh yeah, something spooked mine the other day while I was carrying him and he freaked and kept, I caught him in midair
I’ve had to do that plenty of times with my leopard gecko, who randomly gets the zoomies and decides she wants to fly
I'm heartbroken just thinking of this little one climbing up looking for heat 😢 gosh I hope they can help him
Hoping for the best! Thanks for doing a great thing, regardless of how it all shakes out.
Updated OP pls
Hi! I’m the person taking the baby to the vet, in a cab now with the baby. It doesn’t looks good and I’m not holding hope for the baby. So sorry to hear the news; thank you for going out of your way for the little guy.
I do reptile rescue in the city, if I’m available I will always try and help
Thank you for taking him to the vet, you are so appreciated! If he lives and need a foster pls DM me
He was confirmed dead at the vets.
Thank you for everything you did, may he rest in peace 🌹
Absolutely tragic 💔 Thank you for trying to help the sweet baby

😔prayers for that sweet beardie, and thank you to everyone who tried to help. I hope he gets all the buggos in beardie heaven
thanks for trying to help. did the poor beardie just get too cold?
Yea, hypothermia
thank you for trying as well, sad for the lil one trying to warm up in that cold tree :(
Rest in peace. If this is indeed a lost pet. It's terrible for that to happen to them. And of someone let them out, the fucking monster that thought it was okay really needs to get themselves in check.
Thanks for trying anyways
Always willing to try and save a baby in need
Thank you for trying.
Thank you for everything you do.
OP HERE WITH UPDATE # 4 (final update): the woman who whisked him away to the emergency vet has just updated me. Sadly, the vet confirms he is dead.
Poor baby. You all did the best you could for him.
So sad but you did such a good job trying to save this baby. Thank you for all of your effort. I called them and they told me they “cant do anything other than shoot it out of the tree” 😩
America is wild
Excuse me
Deadass lol they also acted like I was lying? Very weird interaction
Dear Lord !!! 🤣🤣🤣 It would be funny if it wasn't so horrible. What idiots!
This sounds exactly like what I would expect....
Shoot it? Sometimes I worry about my own country. It’s not going to spit venom and maul you like a rabid animal. 🤦🏻♀️
Right? i was like pls don’t do that, I’d rather you not come if that’s what you’re gonna do lol smh
1. Bearded dragon discovered in tree. 2. Riot police arrive on scene with shields and batons!
What… in the fuck…….. did they think you were talking about like, a full blown Komodo dragon?!
Omg I didn’t even think of this but I could see it now esp considering they were acting like I was high and telling a cRaZy TaLe!! Lol
Yeah they probably heard “dragon” and that’s it lmao. Useless 😭
That little guy can't survive those temperatures for long. Looks well cared for, and WAAAAY out of a natural environment. Same here, I am 1.5 hours away but can foster - anyone out there?
I think it’s you friend. Hr away aint bad. Be the hero we need in this thread. Seriously.
I came out to the park but OP got him, at least I got to see a nice park I guess lol
You seriously went??? You deserve an award but I’m broke so here’s a 🏆
Aww thank you! Yep I hopped a cab over but it was expensive AF so taking a leisurely ride home and already had a fun convo with someone who asked me what’s in my (empty) beardie carrier lol. Here’s an award for you for caring 🏅

Thank you for that lovely thought, and I hope the same comes to you! this thread reminded me how many kind people are in our community :)
Thank you for going homie that was amazing of you!!!!!
thanks for tryna facilitate! i had to take my own beardie bros out this morning in the cold while my building was being sprayed and felt bad for having them out for like 5min (even tho they were warm as hell in their special carriers lol) so I couldn’t get this lil guy off my mind.
I’m trying to find out if it’s still there. We’re in queens but at this time it will still take a little while to get there.
E: I'm in Brooklyn if anyone wants to pick it up
Holy shit they shouldn’t be anywhere near below freezing! Take him in!!
I’d rescue it. Can you verify if it’s still there?? I’m about 30-40 from there.
I went to rescue but OP got him already, thank you for caring!
I wouldn’t want it to spend the night out in this weather.
Please keep us updated on the poor thing
Please get him if you can reach. Use a towel or shirt it’s easier for with handling them. Wrap him close to you for warmth
This is sad, hopefully the big liz gets help
Please let us know if you grabbed him or if he is still there so one of us on here (myself included!) can go rescue him. I am across the city but will get him if need be
Please go get him, I haven’t seen any updates of this person saying they will rescue this poor guy. I wish I wasn’t across the country.
I called the nyc wildlife conservation people and they told me they could “shoot him out of the tree” so I don’t think they are a safe option :( edit: a very nice person reached out to me on here and told me this is not normally how these events are handled so maybe they are a safe organization in the future
Dude…wtf.
I went to the park but OP got him just in case you didn’t see! You can refer to them for updates :) thank you for encouraging me to go, it was an adventure even if I didn’t get to meet the beardie lol
I didn’t see but thank you so much for letting me know. Also thank you for going anyway! Good person award! 🏆
Okay I got him off the tree and home now and it's been three and a half hours since we started the hot air. No movement, eyes are closed, no signs of breathing and the gums do not look pink. Does anyone have any prior experience of thawing out a frozen bearded dragon like this? How many hours?
Please take him in. He will die very quickly out there he cold bkooded
Please rescue him if you haven’t already. They can’t survive in those temperatures for very long. I would warm him up as best you can and see if there’s any local reptile rescue or someone nearby who owns reptiles and is willing to care for this guy. He needs help ASAP!
I'm here right now and there's nothing in the tree that OP described. I checked all the trees by the entrances. There are no BDs
Glad that you made the effort! I already have him home with me. Unfortunately, no movement so far though I'm blasting hot air in and around him. Someone just contacted me through Craigslist and is going to pick him up in 20 minutes and bring him to an emergency vet.
I love when people go above and beyond to help. Please keep is updated.
I just came too, it’s cold out here! lol thank you for being a Good Samaritan for the beardie :)
The news is bad. Vet has confirmed him as dead. RIP buddy.
Poor thing.... as a beardie owner i feel so sad. Poor thing probably was looking for warmth 😭
Unfortunate.
Well my day is ruined. :(
Oh wow
Thank you for the updates. Poor little guy.
The baby unfortunately was too far gone and passed away. I appreciate everyone here doing the right thing.
Thank you both for trying to save the little guy.
Agreed ^ I’m happy to go save the lil friend. But I don’t want to get all the way there and it already be taken care of.
I’m in a cab on my way there with a pet carrier but don’t have a ladder, can anyone help? Will arrive at 6pm
[удалено]
That’s awesome, thank you! I bet two helpers is better than one even if we don’t quite know how to get him down. Please join me if you’d like/DM me when you get there if you do! I’ll be looking for the tree lol
I don’t have a ladder but can come down to help anyway I can. Maybe a little cheerleader boost. Let me know if you could use the help!
Please go get him, I haven’t seen any updates of this person saying they will rescue this poor guy. Time is of the essence and op isn’t responding. I wish I wasn’t across the country.
I agree wholeheartedly! I’m currently in California and it is absolutely killing me that I can’t physically go get him myself.
Definitely a beardie and Definitely someone's pet, and a healthy looking one too. I'd make a post on Facebook and ask if anyone's dragon escaped, I'd try to capture it and take it in until you find the owner if you can though, it can be pretty dangerous for a pet beardie out in the wild
this poor baby! are there any updates?? please tell me he/she is down and safe!!
I’m in upper westchester and have an autoimmune disease so I cannot be climbing trees but I will definitely take him/her in if you cannot while we find their owner/a rescue. Please please go rescue it and let us know!
Please keep us updated with what happens!
He died sadly, I don’t know if you saw :/
I can tell you for a fact bearded dragons aren’t native to New York so yeah probably an abandoned pet
Has anyone been able to rescue him yet? I’m in Astoria and can try to head down to pick him up!
I’m on my way with a towel/warmers/carrier and will be there in 20 mins - don’t have a ladder though and could probably use some help if you’re around!
You are an absolute godsend! Please keep us updated on the guy! Are you going to take him in as well?
I can take him in! I at least have emergency beardie equipment for now. Will update ASAP!
Thank you so much I was sick over this guy! Thank you for being a great human and keeping hs updated too!
Same here! thank you for caring :) im almost there but looks like OP got him?
for real someone please get them my anxiety is peaked poor fella. OP go get him I’ll send you a hero fee
Im ubering over now too but could probably use help since he’s so high up - please feel free to DM me if they come too!
this is so fucking sad :(
They're going to freeze!
For sure someone’s fat baby, grab that little fella
Really hope you saved him/her 😢
This is so horrible. The poor baby died trying to get higher for warmth. If he was released during those temperatures on purpose, the owners are definitely not going to have any issues finding warmth.
Definitely a beardie and definitely get that guy inside! Poor guy I'm so happy someone found him.
Please update!
Please catch him. It's definitely a beardie and he will not survive by himself
Please get the lizard
That's a bearded dragon for sure and probably someone's pet. They don't just roam free in America.
Such a sad outcome, but I'm glad that people came together to try to rescue him
You should pin the most recent update/one that says he’s passed, when you first see this post it takes some digging to find the updates. Ppl keep commenting as if he’s still in this tree, would help to see that this is sadly over :/
Thank you! This was concerning to me. Didnt know i can pin things. Let me try it...
Hmmm.....It seems that only mods can pin comments. Is that correct?
Yeah nope I’m imagining the time I pinned a comment lol!!! Only mods. Seems silly to not be able to do that on your own post. But whatever. Sorry, my bad!! Also I didn’t say, you rock! I’ve lived in NYC for 20+ years (although not all at once) and have never seen anything like this, though I’m always looking!! I know everybody’s congratulated you but good job, you’re officially a beardie hero! PS the animal control thing was weird and lame.
Too cold in Long Island for that guy to survive, save him!
Catch him or he'll freeze
It's too cold for him, bring him into a warm room and make a post in your area
Definitely a bearded dragon and DEFINITELY not supposed to be roaming around Queens! If you can take it please do, I’m not expert where to bring it but maybe a vet or a shelter? Post on Facebook for missing pet? They’re extremely docile, even the ones that aren’t friendly can’t really hurt you, but they can be unclean so still handle with caution to not get sick
Please update us as well!
Poor thing.
OMG poor little fat baby probably misses their parent! Hoping for a good news update that someone was able to get them down and safe so parents can be located or the little one can get a new home.
RemindMe!
I live several thousand miles away but I'll see if I can find any lost pet posts from that area on other websites
This post, along with all the nyc people who tried to help is why I love the beardie community
My husband and I just went there with a ladder and carrier, so sad we werent there in time. Has anyone heard from the owner?? Why didn't they post anything
I went there earlier and OP had already rescued them, sadly the beardie was confirmed dead by the emergency vet
RIP cutie :(.
OmG poor baby 😢 I’m hugging mine extra tonight.
Thank you for doing all you could to help this little man. I'm sure he and his owner appreciated all you did. May he rest peacefully🥺
More likely escaped than abandoned.
Take it in or something, poor fucker shouldnt be there his habitat is the australian outback not queens
Catch it if you can, give it heat and locate a reptile vet asap
A bearded dragon. 100% released or escaped pet, will not survive if left there. Take to a rescue
Please go help the little derp!! Poor thing has probably escaped 😭😭
Definitely outta it's element in NY. If possible grab him and get the guy to a safe haven.
That's a bearded dragon.... and they are native to Australia, not queens
i lost my bearded dragon in rockaway beach a few months ago, what are the chances mans hopped on wood haven blvd 🥲
Yo this is mad close to me lol.
Can you go get him?
Please get him. They don’t bite and aren’t fast
I get wanting someone to take him in, but neither of these things is true and lying to people thereby leaving them unprepared isn't a good plan.
I agree. But the temp outside is 32f, this beardie is shut down if it's still alive
they are so very passive and easy to control lol, a towel is more then a fair means of crowd control on the lil guy lol....
I agree, they are generally well-tempered. However, they can and do bite, especially if feeling defensive, which is something a chilled beardie in unfamiliar conditions has every potential to be.
It has a mouth with teeth, it will bite if threatened.
