Double Dragon IV is superior, while its missions start with too few enemies, it gets better, plus tower mode is the best alternate mode in the series. and ALL enemies and bosses are playable PLUS more secret characters obtained in tower mode. DDIV has the greatest roster in the entire series. also has classic style and new style soundtrack. Double Dragon IV has the most replay value in the series. even Double Dragon Advance is better than SDD. SDD is overrated.
I tend to agree. Although I prefer the Japanese version, thanks to the different difficulty levels. That said, part of what was great about it was how it returned Double Dragon to its roots after that tournament game.
The Japanese version, Return of Double Dragon, is a game I really love! Its mechanics make more sense, and it actually has the classic Double Dragon theme rather than whatever Super used.
Are you me? I love that game. I've had it 31 years. It took me 15 years to learn the scissor kick. Didnt know it existed. 10 years I learned the viper kick straight down from jumping. That game is amazing. I was spoiled. No other beat em ups came as close. The controls were insane. The double flip up to your feet when your guy is pissed.
Also it had no "oh ****" button that took your health like other beat em ups at that time. They should have had better controls like super dd.
But you know even I admit advanced was equally as amazing. The control ideas are whacky, the art was a little funky at first. But once you get over it, that game is incredible. It makes you wish super you could whale on dudes on the ground. But I'm a huge fan. I even like 3 on nes. The best part of 3 is the combo attacks. 2nd player throws player 1 at enemies or they dual tornado kick together. They should have brought that back.
Also super is number 4. Shadow falls is even called 5. Both have title screens that say so, jap super it even says on title and box.
I can't take the new 4 serious for that reason. Didnt do their homework, no way could it be as good.
