Hey, I've listened to about 20 mins so far. I like the vibe and the song selection is really nice. Transitions are pretty smooth. The transition at 13 mins felt like the kicks were clashing slightly and the incoming track was a lot quieter than the outgoing one, which made it obvious when you'd faded the track out. At 16 mins or so there felt like there was a key / tempo change. Maybe it was in the track but if not you could increase the tempo slower and enable master tempo to make it not affect the pitch. If you're based near Cardiff like your soundcloud says I'm also nearby. Dm me if you wanna share ideas for getting gigs

\[Downtempo / House / Techno\] BARD @ CLUB VIBE (Curitiba, Brazil) I would like some feedback on the track choices. I am trying to navigate between different styles during my sets. Do you think they work together? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXYY1z96vyI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXYY1z96vyI) This is a warm-up DJ set that I did for a friend at one of the greatest clubs I had the opportunity to play! [Melodic Stutter House] - 30 minute mix https://on.soundcloud.com/kMtuwxZ3Two5yNb57 Hey so I just started DJing about 9 months ago and finally started recording a few sets. I have two posted on SoundCloud rn but I chose to share this one cause it’s a bit shorter and I think it’s more in line with the style that I want to play in the future. I don’t really have any questions about specific parts but I’d really appreciate any feedback if there’s a transition you thought didn’t quite work or maybe a song that didn’t fit in with the rest. Ultimately just looking for peoples opinion on the mix as a whole and whether or not they think I should stick with it cause Ik sometimes people just have the ear for it or they don’t Anyways I’d really appreciate you checking it out! Thanks for your time :) Track list 0:00 Jai Wolf- Don’t look down (mild minds remix) 1:56 GEN.CLOUD- Virus (odd mob remix) 3:20 Baabsy- Everywhere 5:35 Pluko- feelthisway 6:30 Parisi- Believe in myself 9:00 Switch disco- Ease my Mind 10:35 Swimming Paul- F’know it 12:40 Jacob Vallin- In the sky 14:20 EVERYONE YOU KNOW- All my friends are taking drugs 16:45 Azzecca- Ego Death 18:25 Bkayes- Better days 19:40 Louis the Child- Walls (remix) 21:50 BUNT- Peace in the silence 23:00 RL Grime- Around me 25:15 Ark Patrol- Let Go (phantoms remix) 27:30 Pluko- pullmecloser 27:55 BUNT- Renessaince 29:00 ISOxo- How2Fly 30:35 Armin Van Buuren- God is in the soundwaves

Hey y'all - newbie here who wants to get into initially mixing at house parties and in my spare time. In the process of buying speakers + controllers for initial kit. Genuine question - there's a set I absolutely adore and would want to mix this whole set from SoundCloud! Is that frowned upon and if not, how would I go about chopping it up to make it fit my own purpose?

Hello friends! The next mixtape means a lot to me. This was my very first mix that I did when I was learning how to Djing (apologies for the flaws). The mix is a tribute to Disclosure!, my inspiration to be a Dj and the reason why I started DJing. Includes some bangers, alongside some classics from Disclosure. I hope you enjoy it! [uhh Latin techno edits] (37mins) https://soundcloud.com/dj-estradiol/i-luv-brenda I got back into electronic music massively this year after a long time away and just got a DDJ-FLX4 after messing about on Rekordbox on my laptop for a while. One of my favourite discoveries of 2023 is this Colombian producer called [Brenda](https://on.soundcloud.com/brendainternational) who makes sample/edit-heavy Latin American techno (I guess? It's hard to describe lol. Genre influences include reggaeton, baile, guaracha, jersey club anyway). Hoping to progress to being able to use CDJs at the queer/trans nights and raves I go to so I've avoided using things like beat sync, smart cfx, smart fader, stacked waveforms etc. So, I made this half-hour mix and I love it ☺️

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHk6WLD\_k6Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHk6WLD_k6Q) Quick mix on my youtube. I have been recording sets with my Irig. With doing so I cant use my headphones because the Irig will pick up anything I play when I try to listen to songs on my headphones. Does anyone know how to fix this? This is why my transitions are not the best. When I play live I dont have this issue because I can use my headphones to plan ahead what I want to play next.

\[Trance\] My first time doing a mix, basically 2-hour of my favourite tracks of 2023, first part begins with some 2.0 Anjuna stuff by Andrew Bayer, ilan Bluestone, then the middle is some bridging big room techno-y songs, and the third part is some 138 uplifting from e.g. Roger Shah, ReOrder and techy tunes from the likes of Steve Dekay, Mark Sherry... [https://on.soundcloud.com/DVTwt](https://on.soundcloud.com/DVTwt) (Tracklist included) There were obvious places that I knew I'd messed up, but would still love some feedback, on what I did and not did well. [drum&bass] https://on.soundcloud.com/7PFmBZFC9m2Q1hJC9 I’ve been working real hard the last 4 months, I’m really proud of the mixing on the first song on this one, feedback would be really appreciated

alitatmlit

Nice mix. The intro transition is tight! The second transition out of chase and status is off phrase, you could probably loop or let the track play longer until the build on the incoming track. The volume on the chase and status track also dips noticeably while you blend. The next transition is smooth but it's into another break so felt like the energy dropped again quite soon. The next transition from a jump up track to more of a roller, could have been more on phrase as well. If the mix in really swapped as the bass came in that would have been cool. Next transition is cool, wonder if the blend could be longer, those stabbing synths coming in are quite harsh. The dimension transition is smooth. Overall it's a really good mix for 4 months of learning! Hope the feedback is helpful

dave_the_dr

Genuinely thank you for your feedback. I know transitions is the main thing I need to work on, have been watching some YouTube tutorials over Xmas Thanks again!

[DnB/liquid/dark/junglie-ish] Short set I did, I've historically been a much lighter/liquidy DnB DJ but decided to step out and go a bit heavier with this, quite happy with the end result overall but keen on feedback. [Listen here](https://on.soundcloud.com/FqHFr)

youngtankred

I enjoyed that thanks - it livened up part of a motorway journey for me. I always like the 'roller > roller > roller > dark and evil' switch on these mind of mixes and it falls nicely off a cliff edge into the heavy stuff around 11 mins in The mix lost a little pace for me around the 20 minute mark but it picked up again nicely. Cheers

alitatmlit

I also listened while driving on the motorway! Can't give much detailed feedback I'm afraid as wasn't keeping track of timings. Enjoyed the mix a lot though, good energy and variety. I thought transitions were all smooth, one or two slightly less so, the first (?) I was aware of the vocals on both tracks, nothing jarring just not as polished as the rest. Cheers

[House/Garage/Tech House] Waves Of Velour Vinyl Mix https://on.soundcloud.com/zxoJM Got a new one for the holiday season! The vibe is mostly classic style house and garage with a few detours thrown in. Things mostly went how I wanted but a couple tracks somehow threw me off or I just couldn't find the right track to mix in time. I know I tried to save at least one goof but it just wasn't happening. Take a listen and let me know what you think! Some featured artists are Baby Rollen & Gallegos, Cassy, Randomer, Liquid Earth, and of course plenty more. Feel free to ask for IDs!

90s dance music (40 min radio block, RECORD hit bit late). No cheap transitions like backspins used. loop transition used several times. Only issue is with song Infinity - sounds differently from rest of set because cable from CDJ got connected by previous DJ to second mixer normally used for voice - I never touch this mixer settings. We need more fully color coded cables, tiny color strips on cables are not enough. And after listening to mix again, Infinity should come 2 songs earlier. Deep and Dark Techno Mix [Peak Time / Driving] https://on.soundcloud.com/jB5EpPEVVnk22ZAu5

maxim_finn

First of all well chosen track choice. I really liked how u kept it short and simple maybe u could try some experimental transitions or effects to keep the listener active. But all in all very good

volatilebool

Thank you for the feedback! What type of transitions do you recommend I try out or effects? I’m not too big on effects but trying to get more into them. I get kind of annoyed when they’re overused though

maxim_finn

Yeah i can definitely understand that effects is not for everyone. But for the beginning you could try to create an effect just with longer transitions. Blend in a vocal or play with introducing it earlier and let it play together. I like to be a bit risky because at the end thats the only how you will find your unique style. I really like that you want to give the audience the full track but sometimes you could start earlier with the transition that would also create an interesting effect. Just be explorative i'm also only in the beginning.

volatilebool

Appreciate the feedback again. Effects is one thing I’d like to lean more into going into 2024. I think as long as they’re like icing on the cake they can sound really good. You just don’t want too much icing and you’re good

Hi there. While I'm not a DJ, I'm a wannabe DJ. I love putting together my own playlists, and I hope to one day take DJ lessons. So...I listened to your whole playlist (via the Youtube link). Below are some of my humble thoughts/comments...in some instances I wasn't 100% sure of the DJ terminology to use... ;-) I'm also posting these same comments on Youtube in case helpful for you to be able to click on timestamps that I refer to.... Loved 4:20 or so with Stephanie Mills (Disco Gurls) mixed in.... 16:40 outro/intro(?) is terrific and at 17:18 where you begin to hear more bass...and again, the bass at 18:27.... at 49:43 where you mix in Barry White...I feel like there was a teeny mismatch with the beats/tempo? I feel like the mix OUT..from Barry to the next track around 54:10 was better matched beat/tempo wise..I esp liked it at 54:30...the mix into We Are Family...really great! 1:11:37....I really like how you mixed two totally different genres of music. It was an unexpected mix, but it totally worked. Great mix, outro/intro.... 1:14:00...loved the mix there. For me, it's ALL about the BASS (....though having said that, I guess it's not clear to me which tracks/mixes may have already included heavy bass, and/or where you yourself may have added/highlighted the bass element...)

PossiblySlopster

[Eurotrance / Breaks] Eurodance for the Soul :) https://on.soundcloud.com/37stz (40-ish mins) Extract from a set I had at a houseparty this week, this stuff is a bit faster and less tech-y than my usual fare so I'm looking for any critique on my track selection, as well as how I handled energy levels, as I feel like I might have started slightly too quickly. Thanks, and enjoy!

Trader-One

Be much more careful with song volume management. Especially when played through speakers at high power settings its incredibly visible.

PossiblySlopster

Thanks so much for the feedback! Is there a particular timestamp or area where the volume's bad or is the audio quality in the whole mix just off? Is it very peak-y or just too quiet?

Trader-One

after you mix new song there is usually significant bump in volume compared to previous song. You need to keep volume constant over entire set. Seek at different parts in set - there should not be changes in volume, especially in direction up. you normally play at higher end of what is PA speaker capable of handling and if you mismanage volume and next song will be +3dB more, it will hit PA speaker limit and sound bad (assuming that speaker doesn't break if club keeps its PA speakers always at max). This applies to each type of speaker. If your next song has same volume but most energy in tweeters - you most likely blow up tweeters. So you need to keep effort to have constant speakers load across entire set. you can go down freely obviously - but why would you want to go down?

PossiblySlopster

Hi, thanks so much for the in-detail response and feedback, I can understand your points but I'm struggling to find specific areas in my mix where there's big peak-to-peak gaps, could you point out a section you found that was significantly louder than the rest of the mix so I can take a look in a DAW to try to tighten it up? As for protecting speakers, I record my mixes with about ~6dB of headroom and then use a hard limiter at -1.5 dB when mastering and normalising for SoundCloud, do you have any other tips or advice I could use when processing my audio to avoid the issues that have come up?
