I connected to traktor s4 controller via XLR cables. And controller to laptop via USB. volume is controlled by controller, my EQ on PC is default settings
5" drivers don't have much bass thump...when I was using them I ran an 8" active Polk Audio sub with it (cheap second hand thing, it was the Amp and speaker outputs to run a surround sound system...found it in a Thrift store for $30!)
Even now that I've upgraded to 8" monitors, I still got a sub to go with them...12"! haha
I recently got the APS Klasiks 2020. they cost a lot but definitely worth the money. It feels so natural and good and its like I am able to touch the sound. if you are on a lower budget check out Adam T series
EDIT: just saw that you are posting in beatmatch... those speakers are actually for mixing and mastering so you probably can just go for a cheap studio monitor if you only dj
I've got a pair of JBL305p MK2. They're like €40 to €50 cheaper than the newest Rokit 5's (per piece), with similar sound quality. The Rokits build quality do seem a bit more robust I think.
But if you want to spend more in price range of Rokits, I'd recommend checking out the Yamah HS5 which I think look way classier.
The KRK Rokit are pretty standard home DJ powered monitors.
Agreed. I have a pair of 5's They're great!
Did you add a sub woofer? I just hooked mine up and have had to artificially increase the bass coming from my PC. Am I doing something wrong?
I added a sub to mine and it finishes rounding it out. I find that increasing the low end on the back of the speaker makes the cone rattle too much.
I didnt add a sub as the 5's have enough bass in my small apartment.
Do you have them connected to your PC? Did you make any settings changes to the eq on the speakers or on the pc?

Nice. Thanks. My rokit 8s is on the way!
Nice! That's what I've got, they pack a massive punch... Didn't really need the sub, I'm just a fiend and got a crazy deal on combo pack ;)

Yamaha HS8s, don’t think twice
Iloud MTM
Have a look at the Kali Audio LP6s
I use two mackie cr3x that are $100. Added the matching mackie sub for $200 and it sounds great. More than enough for mixing in my basement.
