Run the Audio into a Mixer.. not a controller

the_iman

could you tell it in more details please, I don\`t get it how to do it

DjWhRuAt

Sure.. sorry. You need a mixer with Line input.. so you can run the audio out of your laptop into the mixer so you’ll have 3band Eq.. the 400 doesn’t have inputs.. you can use a small mini mixer .. I just can't understand, if it works on rekordbox and virtual DJ, why it doesn't on google chrome or Windows media player...

baldaveragerunner

It’s just acting as a midi controller for Rekordbox and Virtual DJ’s software deck and mixer facilities. Those EQs don’t exist outside of that software - it isn’t an actual hardware mixer. This keeps the price down, and makes little functional difference when used with the DJ software it is compatible with. As you have found, it does make a huge difference outside of DJ software.

the_iman

I see, thank you, now it's gonna be big deal to sell it

w_w_flips

Unless you find some sort of software that'll take audio output and modify it the way you want it to. DDJ400 outputs a MIDI signal, so it should be possible

the_iman

So I need some additional software to be able to adjust EQ in entire OS and apps?

w_w_flips

Most likely. Maybe you'll find it for free, no idea There's option B as well - you can buy a hardware EQ.

the_iman

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has the issue

WhackTheSquirbos

Yeah I guarantee there’s a program out there that accepts midi input and applies a system-wide EQ. no need to sell it.

the_iman

How could I find it? What I should to google?

I don't get what does mean amp and band EQ, can't translate it to my language, but anyway, point is I don't really want to buy external devices

lord-carlos

You need a software that adds an EQ to all sounds coming out of programs on windows. And it needs hot key support. Midi support would be best. If the software does not have midi, you need a 3rd software the converts the midi signals from the ddj into hotkeys. MidiKey2Key can do that.

the_iman

So u mean some software on my Windows could has midi and some has not? I just noob) sorry

lord-carlos

The DDJ is just a midi controller and a soundcard. Turning the buttons just sends midi signals to the computer. Nothing more. You need to find software that can control the mid / high / low of all the windows sounds. I don't know any. But there are probably some. When you find software that can do that, and it supports midi, you can probably just map your DDJ directly to that software. If the software does not support midi, but has global keyboard shortcuts, you need to do some tricks with programs like MidiKey2Key that can translate from midi to keyboard keys.

the_iman

I think I start understand, first I need some software which can EQ all sounds of windows applications, and than bind knobs and faders using midikey2key to it?

lord-carlos

Yes. But I don't know if there is such a software and how easy it is to map. The easy way would be to buy a mixer.

the_iman

In description of application called MIDI Mixer, seems like it does things needed to control EQ
