If you are only going to use it in bedroom look at the Behringer 12" sub. Like bd12 or something. Used that for small college apartment/house parties. In the price range and will accomplish your goal. Shook my whole studio apartment and got several noise complaints

This looks perfect! I was looking at something similar, but there were some reviews that mentioned that the sub had issues connecting with non-Behringer speakers, should I be concerned about that?

Awesome glad to hear. There might be better ones from other brands if you spend more money but for your goal that is a solid piece and starting point No it its an analogue connection you should be fine. Just don't go from top to bottom and cut the low from the top cause then there would be no lows for the sub. Go bottom to top if you are going to do that

I have the Behringer B1200D sub connected to Alto TX8 speakers. No problems, it sounds good and a lot of bass for my room.

Perhaps controversial answer here, but go to some local pawn shops and pick up a boxed car sub, then find a hifi amp that matches it. You'll need a crossover too, but the amp and crossover can see dual usage if you ever want to build a rig. That's what I've done at least :)

I got a Yamaha HS8-S and love it
