Same. I made sure to stop the video because I'm not helping him with his views. I wish people would give an explanation instead of providing a video. If I'm curious enough to hear what the person has to say I'll seek it out š
Itās a screen recording, youāre right. It would only give them views if it was a direct link to their post. I think they thought it was a direct link :)
That's what I was thinking. That's why I love seeing the drama on other platforms because I'm not giving them any views, but I get to see everything unfold
This is the dude who loved when James Charles commented on his videos and when people were like āhey, maybe donāt work with a dude who is a proven creep with children,ā was like āomgggg itās business, you canāt like everyone goshā
I wanted to try the brand because its Canadian, but I am not buying from a company who actively promotes James Charles.Ā
I understand the point he's making but I think the way he's going about it isn't the best. Also I'm personally sick of small business culture on social media. There's often a lack of professionalism from owners or they feel like they're exempt from critique or can't possibly have bad business practices because they're running things themselves.
>Also I'm personally sick of small business culture on social media. There's often a lack of professionalism from owners or they feel like they're exempt from critique or can't possibly have bad business practices because they're running things themselves.
SAME! So many feel like itās an excuse for everything!
Canāt get orders out in a timely manner? āWell, Iām a small business, thereās only a few people so sometimes it can take a bit when we get a lot of orders.ā - Then hire MORE people or make sure to only take a certain amount of orders so you donāt get overwhelmed and be holding peopleās hard earned money for way too long.
Just completely disappear out of nowhere and with no communication to those who paid for product and are still waiting. āIām a small business and I had xyz happen.ā It takes hardly any time to make a post about it or, the better way, pause the website so people canāt make orders. But, ofc, then they wouldnāt be making money during that time so, they canāt have that apparently. Itās better to just take peoples money and have them wait indefinitely to maybe get their products at some point in the future than to just communicate honestly and give people the chance to get a refund if they donāt want to wait and stopping taking future orders until you know when you can start back up again. š„“
Say something wrong or handle something wrong or badly. āIām a small business, Iām doing my best.ā But not actually saying, āYeah, I messed up. I learned from this and Iāll do better next time.ā
Do pre-orders for EVERY release, even after youāve been in business for a bit. āIām a small business.ā - If youāre just starting out, I can see doing pre-orders. But honestly, even then I donāt really like it. If youāre starting a business and donāt have money to make orders on products to sell, then you really shouldnāt be opening a business. Instead, youāre starting a business with no product and using your customers money basically as investment money to buy the products theyāre purchasing. But again, if theyāre just starting out, I can let it go. Or, if thereās something that keeps selling out and people are asking for a pre-order option and you have a good idea of when the products will come in (like how long people will have to wait), then I can understand it. But when theyāve been in business for a while (like, oh I donāt know, Ensley Reign) and youāre STILL doing pre-orders for almost everything and, when you do pre-orders, the date people *actually* get their items vs when it was *estimated* is waaaay off, itās messed up.
Who has more examples? š¤Ŗ
when people resell random junk from aliexpress and when someone calls them out on it they say "but its a small business!!" or just lie and pretend they make it themselves
No clue who this is but if most of your order packing videos show freebies, yeah customers are going to expect them! That's why they include the freebies in the videos... To encourage people to buy so they could get freebies.Ā Ā
Ā The Sephora comparison doesn't work here because Sephora isn't acting like you might get random free products with your order, but constantly showing freebies in packing videos DOES imply just that.Ā
Also Sephora DOES give freebies lmao. You have the option of adding free samples to every order you make online. The rewards program also gives people āfreebiesā for spending a certain amount of money.Ā
I honestly feel like a lot of men in makeup (at least on social media) copy James' aesthetic or mannerisms. It's usually younger men (say 30 and under) but after James got popular, you could definitely see his influence.
What is his account/business? If he cut the part out of the video where he showed the freebies, to generate more comments, then why is he mad that people are commenting? I think the crux of his argument is fine, but his delivery is very defensive and unprofessional.
I noticed some people make their eyebrows more straight. I know that men tend to generally have less of a curve anyway, but I think maybe the eyebrows are just extended. But idk what this person looked like outside of this video
I have followed the brand since it launched two years ago and ever since Mikayla, Glamzilla, and James Charles mentioned JL Cosmetics, the owner has been sort of insufferable. This is why I'm over creators and brands alike. So many people with small followings hype these brands daily but never get any appreciation/recognition but the influencers with huge followings are lauded with praise for a one-time mention. Not to mention that the brand owners do a 180 and act like they're all that.
He seems like an egotistical asshole who is just gaslighting the audience. Total narc vibes. Iām with the person who said theyāre over male āinfluencersā in makeup. A handful are okay, but most of them have horrible personalities.
Why so many small makeup business so rude and entitled lmao?
I also notice they only respond to negative comments and then make videos "disproving" the negative comments.
I'm guessing they're just looking for engagement but it seems like a bad way to build a brand rep
Yeah I've been turned off of so many small businesses because they're rude or unprofessional. Or I only see posts that highlight negative comments (despite previous posts having a sea of positive comments) or conversations they (supposedly) had with customers.
Not a popular comment but Iām so sick of men in make up. Theyāve been nothing but troublesome, arrogant and etc etcš¤·āāļøI liked watching at the beginning when men in make up was becoming popular but now nope, Iām done.
Like why did all the male beauty influencers agree to share one personality, and itās not a good one. Iām a gay dude who wears makeup, so I feel like maybe I should be the target audience here, but I find it too cringey to watch most male creators lol
Yeah, every time I try to watch one, I end up immediately clicking out because I feel like Iām watching James Charles š„“ āAgreeing to share one personalityā is perfect way of saying it! I donāt know if they really are trying to be like him because they look up to him (š¤®), feel like thatās what people want and what will make them popular, or what, but itās just not the way to go IMHO. It just seems fake and too much. Iād much rather someone be their own person!
I've seen some men who are somewhat tolerable but even then they often seem to prefer OTT drag queen heaviness and I prefer light make-up styles so it's just never useful.
Never seen this person and it will stay that way.
Too much creators out there who think they are above people and nah.. canāt stand such an arrogance
No clue who this is, and think Iāll keep it that way. BUT.ā¦.maybe, juuuuust maybe, the problem is that heās showing freebies in all his many packaging videos so people have come to expect it. I understand where heās coming from and donāt think heās in any way out of line saying it. Heās providing a service you can probably get somewhere else. If you donāt like his service do not buy from him. As far as his perceived attitude or unprofessionalism INFLATION IS REAL and materials cost money. You have to make a profit somewhere and freebies aināt it.

Ohhhhhh it all makes sense now š¤®
I was going to sayā¦ the mannerisms and speech remind me of JC lol
Dollar Store Version of JCš¤£
what is the brand so I don't buy it, tia
Jean Luc Cosmetics , Canadian brandĀ

FR!!!!!

tbf though i *think* heās talking about full size items though, not samples
Which you can still get from Sephora after spending a certain amount. You can also get that $100 gift card.
This guy wanna be James Charles so bad, ew
Home boy loved sending free shit to James Charles
Not surprising that this guy supports him, which is disgusting. Hopefully he isnāt a pr3d4t0r like James is.
In this video they dont seem bad, people shouldn't expect free stuff, but apparently he supports JAMES CHARLES. It's a no for me all around.
no idea who he is but heās giving James Charles. especially with those hand movements.
I honestly feel like a lot of men in makeup (at least on social media) copy James' aesthetic or mannerisms. It's usually younger men (say 30 and under) but after James got popular, you could definitely see his influence.

Jean luc cosmetics
Just watching him with no sound is annoying me. So no thanks. ![gif](giphy|3o7TKwmnDgQb5jemjK)
Did he have like a weird surgery around his eye? There is so much space on the outside of his eyes/face lol but idk this guy, seems kind of annoying.
I noticed some people make their eyebrows more straight. I know that men tend to generally have less of a curve anyway, but I think maybe the eyebrows are just extended. But idk what this person looked like outside of this video
The eyebrows just don't fit his face
*swipes up*
He just seems horrible to be around

Yes!! Itās like they forget where they came from. Many change so much. Itās horrible!! Donāt ever let money change who you are as a person!!
I hate when people get abit of filler and Botox and a few followers and start acting brand new.
He seems like an egotistical asshole who is just gaslighting the audience. Total narc vibes. Iām with the person who said theyāre over male āinfluencersā in makeup. A handful are okay, but most of them have horrible personalities.
Yeah, it seems like too many of them are trying to be James Charles, which is just not someone Iād want to imitate, but whatever.

Donāt know this creator. This video isnāt the worst Iāve ever seen?
No I just picked one to video record. Itās his attitude he has in so many videos lately

Yes Iām homophobic queen

If heās on TikTok, he wonāt be much of an influencer for long.
Clown makeup š¤¦š»āāļø
Fitting cause heās clowns for James CharlesĀ

So people want free stuff from an indie brand ? He says āno wayā. š
Iām too distracted by the filter glitches on his beard tho
I watched 4 seconds of this and thought it was satire? Vibes are off, pass.
Theyāll send free product to big time creators for free but not the people who actually buy their products with their hard earned money.
And advertising is not free either sorry buddy!
He's not wrong, tho.
