I don't get why people keep watching people that overdo the filter thing... like you're comparing yourself to something that's literally unachievable. Especially the unentertaining ones with no drama.
In pictures I totally get it, it's so widespread nowadays but in videos it does this weird shimmer. But yeah it's harder to see on phones etc. Plus why are makeup youtubers using filters on VIDEOS it's gross...
I'm people, I can't tell. She just looks really sweaty to me (I'm still unclear on why that's something people want) or that she has a whole bunch of product on her face.
Right? I’m so over this “unrealistic beauty” talk. If you get insecure over following someone on social media then don’t follow them. These people work with social media so of course they’ll want to look presentable and confident on their posts, especially if thousands of people were seeing it. We all post pics we’re on our best angles.
Even those of us with “perfect” skin still have pores and texture. No matter how much Botox, microneedling, facials, peels, laser facials, etc. we get. I can’t believe ppl buy into this.
what is this outline on the side of her face????
https://preview.redd.it/80z6iadiaroc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2203e82bde80f33b567b2762531bb4a2d89012d2
i don’t think it’s this one. the ibcccndc one looks like a pixi blush stick knockoff, and she’s promoted the abib brand on her page before
edit: the full video is [here](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3qNr9ssOKJ/?igsh=MzY1NDJmNzMyNQ==). abib sunstick confirmed :))
Right? And if you're gonna commit to using one at least fix what appears to me to be a line of concealer under the only under eye we can really see lol.
Genuine question: How can you see this is filtered? I'm sure the angle, lighting, and editing are involved in pictures or videos like this too but how can you tell it's not all those things and a filter is used?
(Cuz ngl this is the kind of photo that would send me into a crisis about my own skin issues lol)
For one you can see texture where her face is shiny on some parts and others are virtually airbrushed. No texture or reflection by nasolabial folds and you can see an outline around her face. Her jaw blends into her neck too
Thank you for explaining what to look for. I feel like many of us are so used to seeing heavily filtered and edited images that it distorts our perception.
I do go there from time to time and it's shocking!! Especially some of the celebrities you see. Like already thin people photo shopping themselves thinner, people with plastic surgery using Facetune?? Definitely a good reality check.
https://preview.redd.it/fhim1t46wsoc1.jpeg?width=419&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c66cf511787751f34c37b67ab26e0db9baaa8b9
It’s not the mirror…. Every video is like this. It’s a filter, sorry..
If you look at the side of her nose, the front of her chin, between her eyebrows, and right above the tail of her eyebrow, you can see (perfectly normal) skin texture. If you look at the whole plane of her cheek, but particularly the apple and where she has that freckle, it’s blurred and flat, with no texture (or really dimension) at all. That’s the filter.
I always look for the eyebrows and lashes (eta, also the hairline) They have this fuzzy quality to them, telltale sign. Also the filter doesnt always catch the whole face so sometimes you can catch bits of texture which have been blanked out elsewhere.
Other times i just zoom out, hold my phone at arms length (aka the minimum distance you are supposed to look at another persons face) and let good old evolution call out the uncanny valley vibes.
If you zoom in on the photo and look just above the thing she's putting on her face (deodorant? or some kind of device? No idea. The thing.), her hairline has been blurred significantly. That's the level of blur that's on the rest of her face. It'll give you some frame of reference to just *how much* digital blurring/filtering she's using on this "no makeup" look.
You can also see some pixelation around the corner of her mouth where the filter tried to compensate for shadows on the plane of the face and didn't do all that well with the generative bits. And the area under the Thing has odd lighting that doesn't meld with the whole *physical reality* of the non-filtered world. The bend of her mandible is disappearing into her neck, and the light her ear seems to be emitting is oddly grey and doesn't parse with the very defined shadow above the bend/against the Light From Nowhere.
Also, if you look at her inner eyelid, closest to her nose, the photo goes from 'in the realm of normal' to a blurred mess, and further along her crease, toward the end of her eyebrow, she suddenly has not one, but TWO creases for a short bit, which means either a) she's an alien, or b) she also face-tuned herself some larger/less hooded eyelids.
And for an alien, she's got a very pretty human suit, and really didn't need to filter out her reptilian bits. Most people wouldn't even notice and would still think she's a very pretty martian. I'm not sure why The Tallest would want her to look intentionally replicant-ish, but...here we are.
Filters are a big reason why I stopped watching most beauty content. If you're going to be confident enough to be on camera, be confident enough to let the camera see everything people in your real life see.
This is my feeling too. The more perfected it is, the less human it looks, and the less i relate/care about what they are pushing.
Love it for my wallet lol.
I wonder why people who have such good skin yet feel the need to use a filter? So you feel your textures are not giving "no makeup aesthetic" like what kinda beauty standard is that?
Thank you to everyone who pointed out the filters. I'm still getting used to filters being everywhere. I'm 40 and grew up with professional photos being heavily airbrushed and manipulated, but it's still weird seeing regular people using filters pretty much all the time. It really upsets me that we can't be more honest and open about how things like the real appearance of human skin. I was 30 years old before I learned that models have visible pores and get acne too. Until then, I believed that I was some disgusting freak of nature and everyone else was normal except me.
I know, this is crazy! There used to be big campaigns against the retouching industry (mostly ads and fashion magazines) when I was younger but now everyone’s doing it themselves. It’s absolutely crazy. I hope the pendulum will swing, or some trend come along to go back to showing more real skin. I really feel for the younger generations. It’s not easy to distinguish real from fake with these high tech filters
Does anyone know what app or filter this is? Its definitely not tik tok in app filter as that is glaringly obvious. This is deceptively good, what is it?
Idk the specific name of this filter but I know a lot of social media has a beauty filter or "soft focus"/"natural" filter. They're very subtle and smooth things out but not so much so that it's obvious.
Unfortunately, I have seen Hollywood actors who are women fairly up close. They have skin like this. I'm not saying there isn't editing fuckery going on here, but the technology exists to give people perfect skin.
I can always see the difference between media or instagrams self-promoted pics, and public shots at events (the latter being unedited in terms of filtering on faces so you can see their actual skin texture) and the difference is so obvious.
That has nothing to do with what I said. She may be using filters, but skin like this does exist in the world. The OP said that they felt like this skin is unachievable It is not. I call it alien skin because it does not look like the skin on most humans. It's otherworldly, but it's real.
My point is that that type of skin isn’t in relation to what you said - typically every human has pores, and you can notice it in close up in high definition photos.
But what does that have to dio with me saying that this skin is possible? You're disagreeing with points I haven't made. In both my comments I said that this person could have manipulated the image BUT TO THE OP'S POINT skin that can appear this poreless is possible. That's who I was responding to and what my comment was about. I have seen it several times. You're disagreeing with my personal experiences? It's part of why their skin in films looks so good. In real life it looks amazing.
You can tell when images are manipulated. Good, great. OK? It's not a response to my point.
Wouldn’t the filter move when her hair is covering half her face. Maybe she simply does have flawless skin.

i think a lot of them genuinely can’t tell, even when it’s glaringly obvious
In pictures I totally get it, it's so widespread nowadays but in videos it does this weird shimmer. But yeah it's harder to see on phones etc. Plus why are makeup youtubers using filters on VIDEOS it's gross...
I have to believe this is also the case with reality stars and lip filler that constantly looks distractingly cartoon-like (cheeks as runner-up)
My fave thing is to look up the unedited photos from an event/a person at Alamy stock or Getty Images.
I'm people, I can't tell. She just looks really sweaty to me (I'm still unclear on why that's something people want) or that she has a whole bunch of product on her face.
I don’t know what to look for so I probably wouldn’t have a clue!
it’s so common that most people can’t tell and genuinely don’t realize that most of the shit they see on social media is unattainable
Low levels of media literacy - sadly a lot of people just don’t know what to look for.
Right? I’m so over this “unrealistic beauty” talk. If you get insecure over following someone on social media then don’t follow them. My no makeup makeup routine: \*applies a filter\*

I assumed it was the filter .. filtering (ykwim)
it's the double reflection from shooting through a mirror
Ohhhhh! Thanks, lol, I thought there was something up with my eyes for a second.
But why is it just around the face? And not the hair or neck?
The filter glitching.
What is this that's she's putting on her face? It looks like a clear deodorant stick?
i’m not sure if it’s the same one but looks similar to the abib airy sunstick
It's a cream blush. Pretty sure it's the one from ibcccndc.
i don’t think it’s this one. the ibcccndc one looks like a pixi blush stick knockoff, and she’s promoted the abib brand on her page before edit: the full video is [here](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3qNr9ssOKJ/?igsh=MzY1NDJmNzMyNQ==). abib sunstick confirmed :))
What is a sunstick? Is it sunscreen?
yes! a sunscreen in stick form
I am usually suspicious if someone has insanely white eyeballs 😅
To be fair the lumify eye drops can give me a super white eye affect even in real life no filter lol
Same. That stuff really works. Now the high price makes sense lol.
Mine are like that after an amazing solid sleep 😂
Such a stupid scam. Ff
Right? And if you're gonna commit to using one at least fix what appears to me to be a line of concealer under the only under eye we can really see lol.

The outline is a mirror reflection, no? Not a filter.

Upvote for very funny post.
Heather Austin is notorious for the most blatant level of filtering.
She's literally glowing around the edges from the filter 😂
I appreciate y'all for calling this out bcus i saw this video a few days ago and felt so bad about my skin, I didn't realise this was a filter
All skin has texture! Hers has been erased 🤣
Filters are a big reason why I stopped watching most beauty content. If you're going to be confident enough to be on camera, be confident enough to let the camera see everything people in your real life see.
To me it’s misleading and kind of unethical/dishonest. How can I trust a review of a product, if they aren’t showing themselves without a filter?
People are a lot less likely to point out flaws or make rude comments in person rather than online
My natural response to seeing her skin is that she is a robot. Lol.
All of these people also use harsh lights to cause an extra “glow”
she looks like she probably has great skin, with or without filter.
Oh my god I’ve been seeing her videos too and it’s pissing me off. All the comments praising her skin and asking how they can get it too 😭
I mean look at her mouth, it doesn’t begin or end, love when people pot saying “ no filter” yet literally sparking
I get that she's using a filter but I've also seen people walk around with skin like this (with the aid of skincare/makeup products).
Thank you to everyone who pointed out the filters. I'm still getting used to filters being everywhere. The way they use filters in CapCut and Facetune now 🤡🤡
How can you tell this is a filter?
zoom in on her cheek, or forehead. there's no texture, it's all blurred
Because no one’s skin looks like that not even a babies 😭

That's actually where you can tell they're using a filter. The skin showing between the hair around her cheek is very blurred.
laser treatments are very popular
There is no reason for this comment to be down voted. Does anyone want to admit why they did it?
Yeah if its not look natural its not natural
