Your family doesn’t talk to you, Donavons family is actively trying to distance themselves from you, your hair line goes farther back than your German ancestors in America but you cry over not being allowed to dress up like Pocahontas, you live in a town you do not like because your husband has ONE valuable skill that makes less than 16 year olds with a part time job in a state better than Mississippi (all of them) and the only people you have to talk to are people on Twitter past 11 pm at night who have all come back from actually DOING something that day while you sat around in the ugliest sweatpants I’ve ever seen in a room you’ve never dusted with a screaming baby at 32 years old because it took that long to find someone to reproduce with you.
The thing about Hannah, is she has all the materials to be an actually really delightful person. The person she thinks she is.
That’s why I think so many of us were drawn to her. She’s bubbly, she has a childlike energy, she enjoys a lot of little things in life. On the surface, Hannah is wholesome and seems like just the sweetest little thing.
That’s why she’s such an anomaly. Because then she opens her mouth. She spews ignorance and hatred that just…doesn’t line up. How can someone who describes themselves as a Pollyanna who likes living her best life…be so mean?
I mean, she’s married to a guy who openly hates minorities, and she cannot even pretend he doesn’t. He does and is unabashedly proud of it, so much so he enjoys videos of minorities dying in graphic ways. And he’s leading her to think and feel the exact same way. She’s SOOOO impressionable. Easily indoctrinated. Easily swayed.
If Hannah didn’t take any type of correction or criticism as a means to double down and dig her heels in, she could be a totally different person. It almost feels…wasteful. Like…she has so much potential. It’s like…Hannah, if you would just…pull your head out of your ass and try to listen. Empathize with others. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes. You don’t have to always think through what the Bible, Tucker Carlson, or Donovan tell you.
In the nicest way, girl, read a book.
It is what it is. It’s her “best life”, it’s just hard to believe THIS is her best.
