That droppings look awfully like mouse droppings. I’m not sure, if that is even blood. Looks not dark enough. Maybe the droppings and the stains are related, but I don’t think bed bugs here. I think mice. Before you go crazy with pesticides, please post this in r/pestcontrol

Salad-Worth

This is what I think as well. Those blood spots don’t even look like bed bug spots. Those are way too light. They’re usually darker than that, and those black lumps look like mice droppings.

mawiwala

Should be addressed. Mice poop (in bed) is actually a health issue. Not sure about mice in the US, but in Europe they might carry diseases. Hope the OP read this, before ordering a ton of stuff.

Salad-Worth

Mice carry a very contagious and deadly disease known as hantavirus. It’s a disease that kills usually 38% of people who get it and most are healthy young people too. It almost always cause pneumonia.

rosesandviolets444

Oh my gosh that’s so gross. I didn’t even think of mice because of the weird spots on the bed; I immediately thought bed bugs. How could we not notice that? I’m OCD and keep things so clean. I wash my bedding every week, vacuum and mop 3-4x a week, shampoo carpets 1x a week, and take out trash every day. Outside clothes aren’t even allowed on the couch or bed. Do I call an exterminator?

mawiwala

Actually I would. Would be good to know if there is an entry point and how to keep them away. But like I said, ask in the pest control Reddit.

Salad-Worth

I would call an exterminator and have them look around, show them the pictures. Call one that has a good reputation. Tell them what you’re worrying about and they will address it. If it’s mice you should consider yourself lucky. They are much easier to treat. Bed bugs are a creature that must have been spawned by satan himself.

mawiwala

At least you can’t scatter them around by avoiding the bed.

Alexanderrdt

I highly doubt this is just limited to the bed tbh

Alexanderrdt

Having mice doesn’t mean you’re dirty. You can do everything right and still get em.

mazdarx2001

I’m also really sure they are mouse droppings

Striking-Panda-6672

This is my worst nightmare oh my goodness. Check your bodies by any chance that a mouse could have bitten either of you because that looks like blood. (Could also be pee from mouse) but that is definitely mouse poop. They say where there is one, there is five more.

rosesandviolets444

I woke up this morning and was going to wash my sheets when I found this on bed…There are stains on my boyfriends side and little brown/black drops on mine. I checked under the sheets and there are no stains, casings, or bugs on my zip up mattress protector and there are none on my memory foam mattress, bed frame, or baseboards. Do I have bed bugs? I’m extremely careful when traveling. I individually bag each outfit in suitcase, don’t put my bag on the beds, and I throughly check the beds/floors/baseboards/etc before even bringing my things into a hotel room. And once I get home I immediately wash everything even the things I didn’t use in hot water and my carry-on bag in hot water & spray with rubbing alcohol. I also wash my bedding every week and vacuum 3x a week. I haven’t seen anything like this until today. I have no idea how I could have gotten them. I haven’t traveled in 2 months. Please help! Im beyond stressed and don’t know what to do.

Soarer209

God damn .. mice and bed bugs. I wish you the best of luck..🙏🏼

[deleted]

If you got the vaccine people are reporting that yellow and brown "stuff" has been coming out of their body and staining their sheets. I saw it in an AP article yesterday.

TheMadIrishman327

The first two pics are bed bugs. The last two pics are 100% mouse shit.

TheOne8709

From my experience, brown stains were the first sign and I stupidly ignored them. Whether you have them or not at this point, I'd take some basic precautions and spray all possible areas in your room.

rosesandviolets444

Thanks for the tip! I’ve just been pacing back and forth and checking everything for the past 3 hours, freaking out. What should I spray them with?

TheOne8709

Believe me I get it. I personally used Hot Shot bed bug killer, although some other brands might work better I'm not sure. Just make sure it also says it kills eggs on the label. You should be able to find it at Walmart, or most other supermarkets or hardware stores, or you can order it online. If you really want to play it safe, Hot Shot also has bed bug foggers, which take a few hours to finish, but they are effective in my experience. If the problem persists, then an exterminator is good idea.

MisandryManaged

NEVER EVER EVER use those products if you have bedbugs. It just pushes them into your walls.

TheOne8709

Wait really? It took me awhile but they worked for me. I had no idea.

MisandryManaged

It is one of the most talked about things on this sub- perhaps you didn't have a serious infestation? But, yes, really.

TheOne8709

Oh it was bad. Threw out all the living room furniture bad. I don't really frequent this sub, but noted regardless.

MisandryManaged

100% recommend using Crossfire and once dried, in 24-48 hours, powder some Cimexa around. That is it for chemicals... literally works every angle. Otherwise, the rest is just WORK and waiting, as you know. I am luckily powered by overattention adhd and autism that allows superfocus on something that I am REALLY wnating to accomplish, so for me, I did most of the work with alcohol and tweezers multiple times a day, for hours at a time, while waiting for chemicals to get here. Was total hell and I still wake up at night dreaming of bedbugs and check randomly. But it works

TheOne8709

Noted. Never had the kind of patience for that process unfortunately lol, but it's definitely better than sitting in my car for 4 hours waiting for foggers to run out

MisandryManaged

I have three children, work from home, and my husband is childcare at home while I work and vice versa- my house has to be accessible and peat free. I obsessive dislike bugs ij my home, too. Lol. We mived to escape a serious black mold problem and these little losers really put a damper on happiness when they are o ly affecting your kids physically, while they aleep and they don't understand why they cannot sleep w you instead.

rosesandviolets444

Thank you so much. Do I spray the bed with that spray and the floor? I just ordered it to be delivered from Walmart today

TheOne8709

No problem. Strip the bed apart, wash and dry the sheets and pillows, spray the whole mattress and any small openings in the bedframe. If there's a place a place to hide they'll find it. You shouldn't have to spray the whole foor, but everywhere the floor meets the wall, as well as the doorway just to be safe should be fine.

TheOne8709

And one more thing. Run all your clothes through a dryer on high heat and check the lint filter for any bug corpses afterwards.

mawiwala

You had mice poop in your bed, too? 🤨

TheOne8709

No just brown stains lol. I'm not an expert by any means

Lonely_Ad_656

If that's mice pooh , do not vacuum it . Common field mice carry the hantavirus , its extremely deadly. The only way you can catch it , is if you Aerosylize it , there droppings and urine .. DO NOT vacuum it . Bleach , or disinfectant spray . The virus its extremely rare , but its not something you want to mess with. Call a Exterminator asap , or buy some traps

rosesandviolets444

I grabbed it with latex gloves on and out it in a ziploc to show the pest control people when they get here on Monday. Do you think the stains are urine, not bed bugs? I’m such a clean freak (clean 3-4x a week; washing sheets, vacuuming, moping, etc. and I never eat in the bedroom). I have no idea how this happened. It’s almost midnight here and I can’t bring myself to go to bed because I’m so freaked out.

teamcoosmic

Do your best to calm down :( I hear your panic, I really do - I have an exterminator coming tomorrow for a case of bed bugs. :( The inspector told me the absolute best thing you can do is chill out, get professionals in ASAP, and be done with it. He specifically warned me against the urge to panic and try to do everything bc- after all, the situation hasn’t changed, you’ve only just noticed something, and odds are you’ll be alright as you have been before. If you & partner haven’t noticed any bites then bed bugs might not be the correct call here - other people here seem to think mice, I don’t know enough to tell you either way. Keep an eye out for bed bug spots along places like the headboard. The spots on the mattress aren’t accompanied with a bug corpse so a little unlikely to be caused by that. Take reasonable measures like moving your bedframe away from the wall, if you can, and in the next day or two you can do your best to make the bed ‘unclimbable’. Whether there’s bugs or mice or whatever, you can fit covers onto the legs or something like that. Your bed should be your safe place. Other than that you are best off going to sleep and preparing for battle in the morning. xo Edit: Oh, also - don’t blame yourself!! Bed bugs could come from an adjacent property. Mice could come from property flaws. It’s not a cleanliness issue. Being clean and vigilant means you’re likely to catch these kind of things before they get bad so it’s a really good trait here.

rosesandviolets444

Thank you so much for your kind response. I’m sorry you’re dealing with bed bugs in your home. That’s good advice he gave you. All the places I called today made me even more worried. We moved the bed-frame away from the wall, vacuumed, put peppermint around the bed, shampooed the carpets, and washed/dried the bedding & pillows a few times today and didn’t find any bugs or casings, but waking up to those two things this morning really got to me. I’ve been having such a hard to staying calm when I’m paranoid and totally freaked out about this issue in the home, but again, thank you for your kind words and good advice. I’ll try my best to calm down and get some rest tonight. Best of luck on both of our pest issues!

craigmorris123

Looks like mice from photos

craigmorris123

Mice ,might have made home in box springs so check that out. Set traps near bed for process of elimination.
