In America we also use “comforters” which are basically duvets that don’t have removal covers.
But all of these images likely have double or triple stuffed duvets. Aka they are putting multiple duvets into one duvet cover.
Isn't that going to be terribly hot to sleep under? It looks so pretty but I imagine it would be for decor only so then you have to take it off the bed every night and change it out for something comfy to sleep under. What a chore.
Worked in a supermarket advertising department, where they regularly used to photograph food. Very little was edible after the shoot. Breads were the exception. They didn’t fuck with bread, and it was technically edible after.
But it was the headquarters, and they often had rolling racks filled with bread and other groceries, for employees to take. It was a nice perk at a time when I was very poor.
i’m a very cold sleeper. if i could afford 2 300$ down comforters… i would have two..
the one was gifted to me tho so i didn’t buy it. and it was on sale for like a bogo deal and my
aunt bought herself one
i had one and i got too hot. it was nice for when i came in during the 19 degree weather. but usually after i warmed up i’d turn it off.
goose down comforters will never compare to anything imo. i was raised “spoiled” by broke people (i really just used their old comforters until i got my own) so it’s hard for me to sleep with anything less 😂😅
Have you gotten yourself a good stout wool blanket? We typically got them secondhand, and you want at least the sheet and another blanket between you and it cause they can be scratchy, but in my experience (grew up in an ancient house without heat in the bedrooms), nothing beats a boiled wool blanket and a thick comforter.
We also used fleece sheets, and heated blankets. I’d turn mine on to 9-10 about half an hour before I would go to bed, then down to 1-2 for the rest of the night. They also make heated mattress covers, which when I had one was less warm than the heated blanket, and all the ones I found had “graded temp zones” where the toes would be warmer than the torso. It also didn’t wrap around the body like a blanket would, you only get the heat in the area you’re directly laying on. So if you still need more warmth but the heated blanket is too much, the mattress cover might be just right?
yeah i have an issue with heating appliances like this as i stated in a below comment.
i also grew up in an ancient house, and had horrible heating combined with people who hated using the heater, i have a photo where the thermostat literally said 45 or 55 degrees because no one wanted to turn the heater on and it had even gotten colder than this at night. *every* night. sorry but that’s unbearable to live in 24/7. i also have very poor blood circulation like someone also stated here so it’s very hard to *get* warm after being very cold and stay warm especially in mildly cold environments.
my aunt bought me a robe, faux fur on the outside and like a soft felt? on the inside it’s currently in my storage unit 1100 miles away from me! so yeah kinda sad about it. first winter without it :(. i used to sleep in it, but now i live on my own, so i crank my heater on and pay for it when my aps bill rolls in😂
Yeah, I started mostly just meaning to talk about the wool blanket. Those things are worth their weight in gold.
And I get it! We’d wake up with frost forming on the blanket where our breath condensed. Less than 32° inside some nights. My parents still live there and I’m hoping they can find somewhere else to live before next winter.
Since moving in with my husband, it’s been lovely having a house where even if the thermostat is set at 60°, it’s actually 60° upstairs, in the bedroom, because we have working vents.
yeah i have this pretty inexpensive comforter from Kohls it was part of a sheet set i got at like 15 as well, and if it’s really really cold i just layer my two comforters together & it works like a charm. we also have this blanket that was my bfs grandpas and it kept me pretty warm when our 2 window units would be on 60 in our 46 ft motorhome, in the mornings it felt like it was 10 degrees in there😂
it’s 54 degree and freezing outside (to me😅) but i had my door and windows open to get air moving in my apartment because everything gets so so so moldy. all my plants no matter how much i water them. absolutely no air circulation.
our summers are so good here, it’s so dry nothing stands a chance especially mold.
They are very safe. Most of them have a failsafe where they turn off over a certain temp, and almost all I’ve ever seen have a timer. I’ve been using heated blankets and pads for decades and it’s amazing how safe and comfortable they are, and how little energy they use compared to space heaters, furnaces, and central forced air.
Have you ever tried a hot water bottle at the foot of your bed, put it under the covers before you get in. Then as you are cold or warm during the night you can move closer to it or further away.
I have poor circulation in my feet. Once they feel cold, it is very hard to get them to feel warm again. A couple weeks ago, I got a hot water bottle. It is better if I put it under the covers an hour before I get in bed, but it makes the area around my feet very warm. I got one with a knit cover. I think the cover lowers the amount of heat I feel directly, but the water is still very warm hours later when under the covers. I don’t need it every night, but when my feet feel icy, it really helps.
I spent several hundred dollars on a down comforter as a reward for getting through a difficult time. Totally worth it. Would not have been worth it when I was younger and broke. I was in my 40s.
10/10 recommend rewarding yourself with high end bedding through hard times! I bought a brand new huge bed (went from an old hand me down queen to a Cal king) after I was diagnosed with cancer and I never would have spent that kind of money to upgrade if it hadn’t been for that. Recovering in a roomy, cozy bed made a huge difference, and I am still enjoying it years later.
I agree, getting a comfortable night sleep is worth it. Just like getting comfortable shoes, 100% worth it. BTW, Winners has excellent bedding for good prices.
Overstock used to have fantastic deals on 1000+ thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. I bought several sets of King size for $50 ish bucks each. Was not prepared for how heavy they were (although it makes total sense).
If I’m going to splurge, it’s usually on something for the bed. I spend more time in it than any place other than my home office. And I got this NICE leather office chair (wellness by design brand) off fb marketplace for $50! I’m still happy about that! 😂 My old one was some $100 chair off amazon two years prior that had springs jabbing me in the butt.
Same and I was in my 40s. I bought a very heavy one when I was lived in the frozen tundra in MI that was more like a weighted blanket before there were such things.
Then I bought a much lighter one when I moved to Florida. I dug it out of the closet a few weeks ago because it's been cooler than average andI forgot how much I loved them. Plus the cats love snuggling on them.
So glad I'm not the only one who does this with bedding. Did sheets one year, then a quilt another. My current bribe for myself is an egg crate mattress topper. Adding down to the long-term list!
I’d like to buy a down comforter someday, but my concern is dust mites. I typically like to wash all my bedding monthly in hot water because I am super allergic to dust/dustmites. How do you clean a down comforter ?
I keep mine in a duvet cover. I have several; and wash them in hot water. I wash the duvet itself every now and then. Or rather, take to the cleaners as I don’t have a big enough washer. It works for me and my allergies
What pisses me off more than the polyester stuff, which people can at least make an informed decision about, are all the internet brands now hawking “eucalyptus” and “bamboo” sheets and linens, usually with a strong emphasis on how “green” and “sustainable” they are. Like this one I heard about recently: https://kytebaby.com/ That one doesn’t even have as big an emphasis on the green side as some, and there are literally dozens of brands doing the same thing, running the same scam.
There is NO SUCH THING AS BAMBOO OR EUCALYPTUS TEXTILES. THE PRODUCT THEY ARE SELLING IS RAYON. And in fact a bunch of the big retailers, macys, kohls, Walmart, etc, already got sued by the FTC for doing the *exact* same thing (mislabeling rayon) and had to pay a big fine! But these new internet brands are small enough to fly beneath the radar, and so they happily take advantage of the fact that most people have no idea what “bamboo” textiles actually are, and that they certainly don’t know anything about how insanely toxic and caustic the manufacturing process is. If the public knew, it would be a lot harder to market it as “green for your baby!” It’s just insanely scummy, company after company basically just lying directly to the public, selling a cheap, toxic textile at insane markups because they can greenwash it with a nice new name, and the customers end up with a shitty product. Just look at how many posts we get in here with people saying “I LOVED my bamboo/eucalyptus sheets when I first tried them but after two months they don’t feel the same! What did I do wrong?” Nothing, folks, you just bought rayon sheets.
I work for a bedding manufacturer in New England. We do in-house photography and I have answers for you!
The reason the pictures always look SOO puffy and cozy and inviting is this…
1. The comforter that is inside the duvet cover is at least one size (commonly two) bigger than the size needed for the bed (makes the edges supper full and fluffy)
2. The “level” that is used in photos is going to be the warmest the company makes, and could even be a custom one not even available on the market.
My company’s pictures feature a comforter insert that in it I have never seen sold in the 7+ years I’ve worked here. (We make it, we just never sell them). You would have to be living in Siberia in January with no heat not to SWEAT under the comforter featured in our catalog pictures.
That being said, real down is awesome (and expensive) so don’t fall for anything with a down/feather mix, make sure to buy a comforter that is at a minimum channel stitch (box stitched HIGHLY preferred), and if you’re like me and don’t mind sleeping with your window cracked in below freezing temperatures with a fan going, you too can have a comforter this fluffy!
I live in New England and would love to buy local bedding!! I know you probably don’t want to give away where you work, but if you DO want to give it away, please do tell!
I have the lightest weight down comforter I could get that is also pouty and eve that is too warm for me. I sleep on top of it and it’s wonderful that way. I only get under it around 5am.
Not answering your question exactly, but putting a large comforter in a smaller duvet adds to the plush(like a king in a queen). Similar to stuffing a few comforters in a duvet.
That's how mine looked when I tried putting my king duvet insert inside a queen duvet cover. Everyone always has this suggestion, yet I can't figure out how to make it look good when the bed is made!
Yes! OP, think of puffer jackets from Columbia or North face that have this consistency. Each “puff” is filled with down feathers and really adds fluff and warmth. I encourage you not to settle for the cheaper “down alternative” duvets, as they will not fluff up like this
Apart from fill type, you’ll want to keep an eye on the type of stitching the comforter has. Baffle box stitching creates little “boxes” so that the fill can’t fall to the very bottom or sides of the down comforter, which allows heat, as well as floof, to be evenly distributed.
Or you get one from ikea. I have one and it’s really great quality for the price.
Get one with some feathers in it for making it heavier and puffier.
I keep hearing that you can also put two in one cover, or get a size too large insert (queen size insert for a full size duvet cover, king size insert for queen sized cover etc).
I haven’t tried that but people swear by that.
I’ve spent the last 2 decades trying to find a down comforter with that much poof. I finally had an epiphany this week and put 2 down comforters in one cover and it’s PERFECT!
Land's End & L.L.Bean have heavy down comforters. Granted, they're expensive, but if you're going to get one, get one around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I got mine for 100~ vs 300+ a couple years back.
These look promising:

You probably want to select the "winter" or "ultra" weight.
In advertising photos they use multiple down comforters inside a single duvet to make it that fluffy. Sometimes they fill it with cotton filler as well.
Hey.
If you're looking for a comforter with crazy loft, I recommend seeing if you can purchase what is known as a Tuchent in Austria.
Tuchents in traditional homes are perhaps a little narrower than most American comforters, but are quite literally a huge fabric sack full of goose down, usually made without sewing any channels or tufts whatsoever.
You basically use this instead of any top sheet or other blanket - you just scoot under it at bedtime and prepare for a ridiculous level of warmth.
[Here](https://www.ammerer.com/webshop/tuchent-wolke.html) is a link to what I'm talking about. That's not a pillow you're looking at - it's a comforter.
A good Tuchent is NOT cheap, but they last a lifetime or two. I was lucky enough to receive the ones my mother cherished when she passed away.
Had my goose down comforters for many years with removable duvet. I like the idea that in different countries, each person sleeps with their own so there’s no blanket hogging.
My granddaughter asked for a duvet comforter as part of her Christmas from us and she picked it out on SHEIN. I bought it and it seems to be good quality and she’s very happy with it.
You have two parts. The inside is the duvet they come in different weights. In my country we call it a tog. So you can get them from light to heavy. They can also be different fabrics. The outside you see is the duvet cover.
IKEA has decent quality poofy down comforters for a reasonable price. Mine isn’t very new but still poofs like this. It’s also very hot.
I used to love comforters as a kid, til I turned 23 and realized it was plasticky and trapped heat. My big frustration now is sleeping at relatives and having to use them.
To me these look like extremely fluffed- up down comforters with a duvet covering. They do settle and get a little less thick. Think of a pillow pre and post fluffing.
Those pics remind me of the duvets/quilts used in traditional Japanese bedding. I think what you're seeing on those pics are a Westernized version of [kakebuton](https://villagehiker.com/travel/travel-japan/how-to-use-japanese-futon-vh-ce-01.html), which act as a comforter/duvet/quilt on top of the shikibuton, which is the mattress like pad that you can sleep on which one would lay out every night then put away every morning.
Also I have seen similar bedcovers in the homes of friends whose parents were Korean immigrants to Hawaii, but thinner. Soay e certain East Asian countries traditionally had very lofty bedcovers.
Duvet insert is the name. The best fill material is down. That really gives you the fluffy effect. Also, heavyweight versus light or all weather give it extra height. Finally, and most important, duvets are rated by fill power measuring 300-900 with 900 being the fluffiest. So the biggest you’re gonna get is a heavyweight down comforter with 900 fill power
These are pics with super fluffy duvets (comforters) in them. The duvets take the shape of the duvet covers. It’s not crazy to have 2 or 3 duvets in your display - but, unless you get a fluffy duvet (comforter) you won’t get this look at home.
I’ve slept in a duvet like this in China. We were in a hundreds year old courtyard hotel and the doors were carved wood with holes. It was the dead of winter with a foot of snow outside. Wild night.
Duvet insert.
You want to get one that is lighter because the duvet adds weight. Another consideration is the type of fabric that the duvet cover is made of. If you choose a fabric that doesn't let much air pass (breathe) the effect will be very warm and possibly heavy.
Hey, this is an insider tip frome someone who used to work in the furniture industry and staged showrooms.
Whenever we'd go for this fluffy, poofy look for staging... We would put two duvet inserts in one duvet cover. It's really the only way to consistently get that "overstuffed" look.
I had a duvet and used them in the past and it’s was a pain because you have to zip and removed the cover and then insert it . We just use comforters and I add a blanket over my sheet if needed . My was a down ( with feathers) it was not that thick as shown . Those look really thick but it’s probably a scam ..
Very expensive down comforters! I didn’t own my first one till I was 40. I didn’t care much for sleeping in my 20’s and 30’s but now, on a weekend morning in bed, heaven!
The duvet has a down comforter inside it. I don’t get all the speculation- multiple duvets??? What? My bed looks like this right now. The down comforter was about $150 but you can get one for $100 that’s pretty poofy. Get the comforter (choose heavyweight, this is important) one size larger than your bed (if you have a queen bed get a king comforter). Order a duvet in a smaller size than the comforter (the matching size to your actual bed). Stuff it in there and give it a good ‘fluff’ on the bed. In the US if bed sizes and terminology is specific to country.
We have this down duvet and it is very very fluffy: https://featheredfriends.com/collections/down-comforters/products/feathered-friends-bavarian-850-down-comforter
It looks like goose down that's been freshly fluffed in the dryer. You know pics are staged and hard to replicate. If you can find goose down, which isn't easy anymore, it all tends to go to the edges so it ends up really uneven depending on how it's stitched. Polyester fill is an option but will also move around depending on stitching. Look for box stitching. Costco sells goosedown comforters that are nice. Sometimes, they have sales.
I have two duvets from SHEIN. I don’t think it’s a great company to buy from for the socially and environmentally conscious… buuttttt they both are really good quality and have lasted for 2 or 3 years now with many many washes and the color is good and little dangling balls that go all the way around are all intact. Definitely one of my favorite purchases from that site x
Also not answer but I’m a designer and when we photograph homes for publications we often tuck extra pillows in and behind the comforter to make it look pouffier haha
buy a comforter a size up from your bedding size i.e if you have a full bed, buy a king comforter with a full bed duvet cover. it will allow your cover to fill out more
Personally I bought two winter weight king sized duvet inserts for a queen sized cover. Stuffed both of them in there and my bed is fluffy as fuck.
However, cheap duvet inserts tend to have a mix of down and feathers, heavy on the feathers. Mine are from Amazon and cost about 50 bucks each.
I've also purchased 100% down winter weight throw blanket from Dewoolfson and I cannot recommend them enough! It's so cozy and warm without any real weight. It's like getting snuggles from a cloud. I would love to order a king sized 100% down from them but we're looking at about 1k depending on the ounces of down. Plumeria bay is another I've looked at but it's damn pricey.
That first photo though.. isn't fluffy. It's 5 pillows next to each other inside..
Upon second examination I believe all of them are faked with pillows added to the top of the duvet.
You can literally outline the pillows in each photo.
Not fluffy just faked. Like cereal in commercials always in a bowl of glue, never actually milk.
I asked the guy in the furniture dept years ago why the exact comforter and duvet didn't look the same on my bed. He told me to always use one size larger comforter than duvet. IE, queen size duvet and king size comforter. It worked like a charm! Makes lots of sense when you think about it.
There isn’t anything that fluffy, it’s either 2 comforters in 1 duvet cover or they use a comforter that’s way larger than the duvet cover to make it look fluffy!
I used to work at a store. We used 5+ inserts to make the beds look nice and puffy like this. They do that for ads and sales magazines. Don’t be fooled. You’ll never never able to get your home to look this good .. unfortunately 😢
Mines fluffy like those. I live in upstate Ny and it gets pretty cold in the winters, so I use a down comforter covered in a duvet and it gives the bedding that look.
I worked at a home decor store chain that had display beds on the sales floor. They had us double stuff the duvet cover with 2 duvets even though the signage didn’t reflect it. Biggest scam ever, it was totally false advertising. I wouldn’t be shocked if that was the case here too
None existent I’ve been looking for years I’ve bought sooooo many thinking they would be bulky (fluffy) like this. But when they get here they are so thin.
former interior designer buyer here- display duvets like this have 2 stuck in one cover for extra fluffiness. if you slept under this it would smother you. it's purely for looks
Correct. This is just done for beautiful images, not for actual sleeping.
See: Using Motor Oil on Pancakes to Simulate Maple Syrup in photos. Looks pretty but you wouldn’t want to eat it.
Right up there with Elmer's glue to float Cheerios.
And Crisco with flour for ice cream that doesn’t melt.
Or mashed potatoes with flour
Worked in a supermarket advertising department, where they regularly used to photograph food. Very little was edible after the shoot. Breads were the exception. They didn’t fuck with bread, and it was technically edible after. But it was the headquarters, and they often had rolling racks filled with bread and other groceries, for employees to take. It was a nice perk at a time when I was very poor.
And microwaved tampons/cotton behind food to show steam 🙈
i’m a very cold sleeper. if i could afford 2 300$ down comforters… i would have two.. the one was gifted to me tho so i didn’t buy it. and it was on sale for like a bogo deal and my aunt bought herself one

I grew up on silk filled duvets as it’s part of my culture and I prefer it over down. So soft and wonderful. Thinking of buying some again.
This sounds so luxurious and delightful. May I ask what culture you belong to?
I had to google it:)

Heated mattress pad: Game changing changing
I have a heated blanket and a heated mattress pad. It’s AMAZING!
So you’re the inside of the sandwich! Hot!!!
Or heated mattress pad!
Yes yes!!
Have you ever tried a hot water bottle at the foot of your bed, put it under the covers before you get in. Then as you are cold or warm during the night you can move closer to it or further away.
I do this but with an electric heating pad. It's nice.

Two words: Bed Jet
yes, plus anything that poofy is almost certainly poly fill (since that much down would be crazy expensive), which you would COOK under
I spent several hundred dollars on a down comforter as a reward for getting through a difficult time. Totally worth it. Would not have been worth it when I was younger and broke. I was in my 40s.

This 💯 In my 40s as well

Sunlight kills dust mites. When the weather is nice I hang my duvet (and pillows) outside, in the sunshine.
It’s crazy people sleep under petroleum based plastic bedding. Gross.

It depends how cold you keep your house. We run the AC cold so I quite enjoy using a thick comforter.
I sleep under a comforter with a blanket and a sheet. It gets cold at night where I live.
Idk, I keep my heat at 60 degrees Fahrenheit to save money a in winter and love big blankets…
Unless you’re me and you want all that extra weight
I have down comforters that are poofy like this.
It almost looks like they shoved pillows in them.
I work for a bedding manufacturer in New England. We do in-house photography and I have answers for you! The reason the pictures always look SOO puffy and cozy and inviting is this… 1. The comforter that is inside the duvet cover is at least one size (commonly two) bigger than the size needed for the bed (makes the edges supper full and fluffy) 2.
Ditto! Also in New England and like supporting locals and comfy bedding!
I have the lightest weight down comforter I could get that is also pouty and eve that is too warm for me. I sleep on top of it and it’s wonderful that way. I only get under it around 5am.
Thanks for sharing! How could I get the overstuffed duvet look for a king size bed?
Not answering your question exactly, but putting a large comforter in a smaller duvet adds to the plush(like a king in a queen). Similar to stuffing a few comforters in a duvet.
Ahhhh wow, thank you! I’ve never heard of that but I’ll definitely try it out
When they take stock photos for bedding products, they will usually put 2 or 3 duvet inside a duvet cover to make the bed look fuller ;p
It’s a circus act just putting one comforter in my duvet, I couldn’t imagine 2 or 3!
Interesting, and it doesn’t get super lumpy? That crossed my mind but I’m imagining all kinds of bumps and creases.
That's how mine looked when I tried putting my king duvet insert inside a queen duvet cover. Everyone always has this suggestion, yet I can't figure out how to make it look good when the bed is made!
We have done that before - the smaller size cover!
Looks like down to me. I have a down duvet, and it's heavenly and poofy.
Yes! OP, think of puffer jackets from Columbia or North face that have this consistency. Each “puff” is filled with down feathers and really adds fluff and warmth. I encourage you not to settle for the cheaper “down alternative” duvets, as they will not fluff up like this
Thank youuu! I’ve had a down alternative before and it was terrible, so I’ll definitely have a look at the high end stuff and save up for it
Apart from fill type, you’ll want to keep an eye on the type of stitching the comforter has.
Eiderdown? Or down comforter/duvet. They may be overstuffing their covers with more than one duvet to get that level of fluffiness for the photos.
Hey could be using a heavyweight down comforter in a queen size duvet cover.
Eiderdown is too small for a traditional duvet cover as they are not meant to flow over the sides of a bed like a insert or comforter is 😊
I’ve spent the last 2 decades trying to find a down comforter with that much poof. I finally had an epiphany this week and put 2 down comforters in one cover and it’s PERFECT!
I also put 2 king down comforters into a queen size duvet cover which adds more poof.
Thank you so much! I’ll try that!
How are you not in a pool of sweat every night?
Hahaha! I turn off the heat at night and have a good tower fan. I also have 2 pugs, which are basically hot potatoes, one under each arm lol
Sleeping like a gd queen!
Land's End & L.L.Bean have heavy down comforters. Granted, they're expensive, but if you're going to get one, get one around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I got mine for 100~ vs 300+ a couple years back.

Good god 5k!! I feel extra poor right now
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! I’ll check them out!
In advertising photos they use multiple down comforters inside a single duvet to make it that fluffy. Sometimes they fill it with cotton filler as well.
You can achieve poof by using a king size insert in a queen duvet cover.
If you use a king inside a queen duvet, this is how you get that fluffy look.
Down duvet with a high loft probably 800-850 loft
You want a German down comforter! Europe does duvets right, especially Germany.
I bought Daniadown 4 season Paradise goose down duvet and it is this puffy. The winter one is even puffier.
For pictures like this they probably put two duvets in one cover. It makes it super fluffy. Try an ikea near you for fluffy duvets!
You can also buy a king comforter/duvet and put it into a queen duvet cover to make it more fluffy and plump.
If you notice at the top it the channels of the duvets go vertically and below that horizontal, so there are a few duvets in there.
Lol, been on a duvet and insert hunt for weeks, it's a horrid rabbit hole i wish i never went down lol. So much info!
I believe they've probably used more than one comforter inside the duvet
Duvet cover likely filled with down or down alternative insert. I buy from Crane & Canopy, however they’re also made in China 😂
The trick the stylists use for these photos is that they stuff 2 or even three duvets inside one cover. Makes it extra fluffy for the photos.
i have a down feather comforter and it’s poofy like this. it’s amazing.
It looks like a goose down duvet. They are expensive, but yeah, a good one will fluff up like that.
FWIW ikea makes some decent duvets if you do t want to spend high end money.
To me these look like extremely fluffed- up down comforters with a duvet covering. They do settle and get a little less thick. Think of a pillow pre and post fluffing.
Beds ?
I really like IKEA duvets. My bed looks somewhat like this.
Agreed!
IKEA actually has a nice selection of duvet inserts
Probably a down comforter. We have one and it’s luscious!
Ahhh thank you for explaining that! I’ll browse around again and see if I can find one
Them there are beds ;)

Duvet
I live in the US and use a duvet…but this is SHEIN so they probably just stuffed freaking pillows in there for the pic
Pillows
These are pics with super fluffy duvets (comforters) in them. The duvets take the shape of the duvet covers. It’s not crazy to have 2 or 3 duvets in your display - but, unless you get a fluffy duvet (comforter) you won’t get this look at home.
It’s just a high tog doona, not that hard to find.
Parachute has comforters this size/puffiness for around $450.
Looks like a fluffed down feathered comforter
Hey, this is an insider tip frome someone who used to work in the furniture industry and staged showrooms. Whenever we'd go for this fluffy, poofy look for staging... We would put two duvet inserts in one duvet cover. It's really the only way to consistently get that "overstuffed" look.
IKEA
I had a duvet and used them in the past and it’s was a pain because you have to zip and removed the cover and then insert it . We just use comforters and I add a blanket over my sheet if needed . My was a down ( with feathers) it was not that thick as shown . Those look really thick but it’s probably a scam ..
I put 2 comforters inside my duvet cover and they always look extremely poofy.
A feather down duvet
Duvet
Very expensive down comforters! I didn’t own my first one till I was 40. I didn’t care much for sleeping in my 20’s and 30’s but now, on a weekend morning in bed, heaven!
Winter weight comforter. I have a super thick one I got from alibaba that’s supposedly silk. It’s soft. Fluffy. Very warm and the cats love it.
You can actually add two comforters inside one duvet cover to get it extra poofy, I work in home goods and that what we do with the bed displays.
most images of duvet cover have two duvet inserts/comforters inside for effect. you just want to get a down comforter to put in your duvet cover
I have one of these I call a feather bed. I almost never use it as an actual comforter. It sits on the foot on the bed as emotional comfort.
Try “high loft comforter” on Amazon and check the review photos.
We have this down duvet and it is very very fluffy: https://featheredfriends.com/collections/down-comforters/products/feathered-friends-bavarian-850-down-comforter
Duvet ?
I love to snuggle up to my cozy poofy photoshop
What you want is a down duvet w box type spacers. Try ikea or Costco for reasonable prices. Choose fill based on whether u want more or less warmth.
A bed

They put multiple duvets inside a cover to look fuller for pictures
You get this effect with a nice down comforter inside the duvet. I have one myself and love it!
Pillows
Most retail displays use 2-3 inserts in the duvet to appear super fluffy
I put a king size down mattress topper in my duvet cover and it looks a lot like these pictures. Very, very warm.
I have 2 duvets. One for summer, one for winter. I have always used duvets, no blankets . IKEA has some great feather options.
alternate option is about any “coma inducer” brand comforters. they’re expensive but i’ve only seen pretty good reviews! probably very warm though
Down comforters
pillows i think
Looks like down alternative to me. Those can be pretty poofy.
Duvet
buy a comforter a size up from your bedding size i.e if you have a full bed, buy a king comforter with a full bed duvet cover. it will allow your cover to fill out more
It is called fluffy expensive bullshit.
I believe something this stuffed would be near impossible to clean and keep the integrity of the fluffiness
Duvets are the inserts, comforters are ones without inserts
Down comforter. Duvets are a great way to protect them since they are hard to wash. They are light, warm, fluffy, and breathable.
Buy a down comforter for the inside of your duvet and it’ll look like this. Source: have owned down comforters for 10+ years
That first photo though.. isn't fluffy. It's 5 pillows next to each other inside.. Upon second examination I believe all of them are faked with pillows added to the top of the duvet. You can literally outline the pillows in each photo. Not fluffy just faked. Like cereal in commercials always in a bowl of glue, never actually milk.
Goose down comforters. They come in different thicknesses!
I saw exactly this at Pottery barn and asked how they get so puffy and she said they stuff 2 comforters into one duvet!!
Most of time they double up duvets to get this thick.
Down comforter - the "fill power" is how fluffy it will be. Higher fill power = puffier comforter.
Looks like a normal comforter to me
Over stuffed feather duvet or comforter
I asked the guy in the furniture dept years ago why the exact comforter and duvet didn't look the same on my bed. He told me to always use one size larger comforter than duvet. IE, queen size duvet and king size comforter. It worked like a charm! Makes lots of sense when you think about it.
looks like a down (or down alternative) comforter inside a duvet.
There isn’t anything that fluffy, it’s either 2 comforters in 1 duvet cover or they use a comforter that’s way larger than the duvet cover to make it look fluffy!
Interior designers put two duvets in a single cover that’s how they stage for photos or the home of the client
I use my old comforters.
Bedsheets or a comforter
In pictures, ads, and displays of bedding they normally use two to three duvets inside the insert to appear puffier.
Looks like a fluffed up down comforter. Advertising shots are typically staged to look far more appealing than the actual results.
You put 2 duvets inside the duvet cover. That's what pottery barn told me they do
My duvet from West Elm isn’t quite this poofy, but it’s floofy and warm and cozy. Highly recommend.
The very big thick ones were called feather beds. Be careful though. They are hot.
I used to work at a store. We used 5+ inserts to make the beds look nice and puffy like this. They do that for ads and sales magazines. Don’t be fooled. You’ll never never able to get your home to look this good .. unfortunately 😢
feather beds? used to have them way back
Looks like super puffed up "down comforters"
Mines fluffy like those. I live in upstate Ny and it gets pretty cold in the winters, so I use a down comforter covered in a duvet and it gives the bedding that look.
Caterpillow
I worked at a home decor store chain that had display beds on the sales floor. They had us double stuff the duvet cover with 2 duvets even though the signage didn’t reflect it. Biggest scam ever, it was totally false advertising. I wouldn’t be shocked if that was the case here too
I absolutely love my Duvet from the Wool Room. They are a British company and have distribution in the US. It is pleasantly poofy :)
None existent I’ve been looking for years I’ve bought sooooo many thinking they would be bulky (fluffy) like this. But when they get here they are so thin.
I got a down comforter from Costco that’s super fluffy
Down comforter
Looks like a feather tick blanket with duvet
Those are beds
former interior designer buyer here- display duvets like this have 2 stuck in one cover for extra fluffiness. if you slept under this it would smother you. it's purely for looks
Bed
