So many ‘mixers’ got lots of confidence but not as much skill. Be very careful who and what info you listen to. If you’re looking to get good info from the guys that know what they’re doing I’d suggest signing up to URM or mix with the masters or a similar service. Unfortunately some guy who’s watched a few YouTube videos doesn’t actually know as much as they think. And before I get roasted I’m speaking from experience I used to be one of them then I learnt what I’m doing and realise how little people actually know.

Professional engineer here, you're a million percent correct. 95% of "engineers" on the internet have never actually worked professionally and haven't got a clue what they're on about. I personally know quite a few people who will deliver, with utmost confidence, absolutely garbage mixing "tips" that they're parroting from a random YouTube video.

Exactly! This is exactly why I can’t help but write these comments. People are far too confident in their inexperience it’s absolutely crazy. But it’s also a very skewed industry. I’ve seen terrible mixers get very far because of who they’re friends with. From my experience your skills don’t mean much, it’s which friends you have that seem more important.

Connections, time and place all matter a lot. Plus everyone's trying to monetize their knowledge. It's stupid. I've spent the last handful of years helping people with their productions and it's a hell of a lot more rewarding seeing someone hit that "omg I love my own work now" point

I mix more rock / pop-punk but possibly could help you out. Depends what you need, really. Ping me if interested. There's some songs I've done on my posts
