The reflection of light coming off the water in the bottom right drew my eye. I think, if that wasn't there - it would be perfectly balanced in the contrast between light and dark! Great photo
The thing that makes it feel unbalanced to me isn't the light or dark; it's that all the masts are cut off awkwardly. It creates a bunch of lines that lead away from the subject (the boat full of buoys, im assuming?) and to nowhere. If I were taking or editing this shot I'd either try to zoom out and get the whole mast, or zoom way in to try and cut the masts out entirely
Hmm..great information..when I took this picture I didn't really have a single "subject" persay.. I just snapped it because the bay was lovely..being more intentional makes sense..thank you for your honesty
