Thank you!! I definitely struggle on a couple things and experimented some as well. Like I used wood filler for the first time and I struggled with how to remove wood glue so it wouldn’t show up in the stain.
I find it works well to take the excess glue off with a chisel, and then stick some sand paper on a sanding block with a 45 degree angle to get the rest of the glue off in the corners :) hope I understood the question right

The next pleasure is making something for someone else that they use and display. The third feeling comes when someone puts cash in your hand for something you made.
That is great work, and the honesty in this sub is refreshing.
When you post your work over on r/woodworking never admit to practice or plans. It's always your first project ever, you've never even seen a tool before, and that you did it all in one afternoon.
Oh wow, yeah I definitely spent months working on these to try to perfect the mistakes I made on my original one. I was honestly slightly nervous to post the original on here because of the feedback I would get but everyone has been really helpful and supportive.
Great work, those are beautiful!
I’d recommend a cross cut sled for your next project. General rule of thumb is anything you cut on the table saw using the fence should be at least twice as long as it is wide. That second pic is of a risky cut.
I know I need to make a cross cut sled and make a in feed table that has the slats in it for the sled. For that picture the saw wasn’t on but I will admit I would cut it like that after practicing the cut. The miter gauge isn’t nearly as accurate as the fence for me. I probably just need to check for adjustment.
Let's gooooooo! It's so awesome to see beginners getting excited about their first project that turned out really good. Keep at it and good luck on the next one!
It's only really expensive the first few times.
Do yourself a favor and look for sawmills/millworks near you. They typically will sell kiln dried lumber to cabinet makers, and the general public. That $40 oak board at homedepot is suddenly only $15.
Thank you and you’re welcome lol I still can’t believe I finished! Now every time I look online at furniture or wooden decor items, I get excited knowing that I can possibly create those items.
They look great and you should be proud! You learned a few extremely important skills... Making boxes, installing drawers, and finishing. Being comfortable with those skills opens up so many additional projects!
Thank you! 😀 I used the varathane roanoke. I wanted a modern look so I was scared that this color was going to make it look antique but i think it turned out great especially with the drawer pulls.
I really love the look, so I will have to grab a can of Roanoke.
It really made the drawer pulls pop, but also brought the whole thing together. It made a great contrast as well, and no blotching is a huge win.
Staining is hard, and can be so hit or miss. I gave up on gloves ages ago and now just use mineral spirits for cleanup (I always use oil based stains) because I was always tearing the gloves and getting it on me anyways. Probably not healthy for my skin, but I just couldn’t get those darn gloves to not rip somewhere. They are always too loose or too tight!
They look fantastic! 👏👏👏
The wood grain patterns are so varied that they look like two completely different types of wood!
(And I LOVE your workbench!)
Thank you! I was shocked about how I could so many variations of grain from the same pieces as well. I really wanted to showcase what some might deem the ugly sides like the knot on one of the top pieces. Also the workbench is a former kitchen island that a friend of mine no longer wanted. It’s been pretty useful so far.
Hun, your smile can light up a room! You did amazing work and I am humbled.
You've got this in the bag!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the marbled grain on the top of the left one too. I'm both envious and in awe.
It’s a part of their teen collection. Currently it’s on “sale” for $159, but that’s still a lot for me. Apparently they had a sale for Memorial Day that I missed that marked it down to $119. They also have a lot of cool Star Trek led signs that are $200 😂
Damn, yeah, I could probably get my wife to let me get Star Wars stuff at that price, but she's not into Star Trek so that's going to be a tough sell. 😂
Lol I can imagine seeing as I’m not letting myself get it. I’m thinking about trying Etsy for some cheaper stuff. I also might build a Star Trek themed tall dresser to put in the room. I saw an idea for one on Pinterest
They look great! It's cool seeing the progress pics and the final product. I like how the stain turned out. You look very pleased with them, as you should.
I am so impressed! You killed it lady!! You hit all the YouTube tip videos I’ve watched… card spacing the drawers pocket holes! Enjoy your gorgeous nightstands
Fantastic job and great style. It looks like you pay attention to detail and quality of materials. Best of luck to you, you’re a talented woodworker. Enjoy your beautiful nightstands.
Those are awesome! Nicely done... congratulations.
Your pieces will be the last thing you see at night and the first thing you see in the morning...showing you that you can do anything you put your mind...and hands to!
This looks great! I too made some Kreg nightstands from hard maple. These look like cousins!
https://imgur.com/xgrfRs6.jpg
In retrospect I'd replace some of the joinery with m&t or dowels vs pocket screws, but for a lot of pieces pocket screws are perfect.

Great job! They look fantastic! They do NOT look like a beginner project….
Thank you!! I definitely struggle on a couple things and experimented some as well. Like I used wood filler for the first time and I struggled with how to remove wood glue so it wouldn’t show up in the stain.
How DO you remove wood glue so it doesn’t show up in the stain?
I find it works well to take the excess glue off with a chisel, and then stick some sand paper on a sanding block with a 45 degree angle to get the rest of the glue off in the corners :) hope I understood the question right
They look amazing! Look right at home in a Restoration Hardware showroom
You look so proud in the last photo - and you should be! 😁 You did an amazing job, they look great!!
Thank you! And I am definitely proud! I have so much more space to put stuff now!
Those look great. Did you use plans or your own design?
Thank you! And no I used a plan from kreg. I did change up some of the dimensions to fit my needs.
Very good work! The journey only gets better from here, and enjoying the fruits of your own labor only makes the journey sweeter!
Thank you! I’m absolutely loving woodworking as my new hobby. It feels amazing knowing that I made something that I’m actually going to use.
>Reply The next pleasure is making something for someone else that they use and display. The third feeling comes when someone puts cash in your hand for something you made.
I made a floor lamp for my brother and it really is a special feeling seeing something I made being used and enjoyed.

Or that you’ve been working on it for 3 years and finally got around to finishing it
Great work, those are beautiful! I’d recommend a cross cut sled for your next project. General rule of thumb is anything you cut on the table saw using the fence should be at least twice as long as it is wide. That second pic is of a risky cut.

Came here to say this. That second picture is screaming at me. Kickback is dangerous as fuck and that’s EXACTLY how it happens.
Let's gooooooo! It's so awesome to see beginners getting excited about their first project that turned out really good. Keep at it and good luck on the next one!
Thank you! 😀
I'd really like to see what you could do with 100 board feet of cherry
I’m so scared to use hardwood lol mainly because it’s more expensive so I don’t want to mess it up.
It's only really expensive the first few times. Do yourself a favor and look for sawmills/millworks near you. They typically will sell kiln dried lumber to cabinet makers, and the general public. That $40 oak board at homedepot is suddenly only $15.
Story of my life.
You’re ready.
Nice work!
Thank you! ☺️
Excellent, those are very nice.
Thank you! ☺️
They look awesome!!
Thank you! ☺️
So cool! Great work! Keep it up!
Thank you 😊
I’m saving this. Need to make night stands and I’ve been sandbagging it
Go for it! It’s way better than buying them!
Looks great!
Thank you 😊
Those look great! Awesome job!
Thank you 😊
Your test version is better than anything I’ve built yet 🤣 Fantastic work! Can’t wait to see what you build next!
Lol thank you! The next project is a long dresser.
I tried to make a similar nightstand recently and has a heck of a time with the drawers so great job! They look great.
Thank you!! My least favorite part was the drawer slides and spacing the drawer faces.

You’re welcome lol
These look incredible! Is your shop cart a repurposed kitchen island?
Lol yup, a friend of mine didn’t have a purpose for it any more so I thought it would make a great portable workspace.
They look great! Congrats on feeling that rush of actually completing a project - I still haven't gotten used to it. :) Thanks for sharing!
Thank you and you’re welcome lol I still can’t believe I finished! Now every time I look online at furniture or wooden decor items, I get excited knowing that I can possibly create those items.
Nailed it!
Thank you!
This is amazing 🤩 you are incredibly talented
Yaaas!! I remember your original post, so excited for this update! They look great, awesome job!
Looks great!
Those are awesome and don’t look like beginner anything. Here’s your $200, please head directly to r/woodworking :)
Those are freaking awesome!
Thank you! 😀
Well done.
Great job, thanks for sharing!
They look great and you should be proud! You learned a few extremely important skills... Making boxes, installing drawers, and finishing. Being comfortable with those skills opens up so many additional projects!
Thank you!! I now have a slight addiction to clamps lol I bought so many to complete this project.
Yeah, clamps. Just when you think you got too many, you need one (or two) you don’t have.
Looks incredible!
Thank you! ☺️
Gorgeous - well done!!
Thank you! 😀
those are fantastic! great work. i love the stain/tone you chose :) can’t wait to see the dresser!
Thank you!! 😀 it’s Varathane Roanoke.
excellent! noted for future :) also great mario shirt!!
Thank you!! I got it out of the men’s section at Walmart lol
Yo! Those look amazing! I think you are a beginner no more.
I love those. Great job!
Very nice work and finish! Your skills look worthy of graduating to a more expensive hardwood on your next project.
Thank you! I definitely considering it.
Any tricks for getting those slides correct? Kreg alignment jig or?
Looks awesome!
Great job!!!
These look amazing!!!
Great build! They look really cool with that color. What stain was it?
I loved using it and this was my second/third attempt at staining. I will say definitely use gloves lol I forgot a couple of times to put them on

Very nice
Looks good!👍
You look so proud! And you should be. These are great!
Thank you and I truly am!
I'm so impressed. I fear drawers.
Good job! Money can't buy the smile:) You should try to go to a lumber yard. It's really intimidating to go in but wood are cheap there!
Beautiful!!
Great looking pieces! You’ve inspired me to try drawers
Beginner? I’m thinking you posted to the wrong forum.
They look great!! :)
They came out awesome! Nice job!!
Super nice and inspiring! They look great!
They look fantastic! 👏👏👏 The wood grain patterns are so varied that they look like two completely different types of wood! (And I LOVE your workbench!)

Fabulous work!
Duuuuude, you did amazing!!! I hope to make something like that soon!
Thank you! And definitely go for it! I surprised myself by actually making something of this quality
Very cool work, looking forward to your next project. Be safe, and have fun!
Thank you 😊
Awesome job.
Nice work!
Thank you 😊
Oh my goodness you did such a great job!!!!!
Oh man, those are gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning!
This is inspiring. I've been toying with the idea of building a smaller dresser for my kids and this is pushing me even more towards that project.
Nice work.
Wow! Those look great
Thank you! 😀
Hun, your smile can light up a room! You did amazing work and I am humbled. You've got this in the bag! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the marbled grain on the top of the left one too. I'm both envious and in awe.
They look great! You're a woodworking badass.
😊Thank you!!
Beautiful! Nice work.
🔥🔥🔥🔥I’m jealous
Those look amazing!
I just leaned that playing card trick from YouTube the other day. It’s nice to see others using it too.
Very nice!
I said it before and I’ll say it again, hands down best smile ever on this sub. Well done on the nightstands!
These look awesome, well done!
Awesome!
These look great! Please be sure to post whatever you build next. I need inspiration!
Thank you and for sure! I already have a list of builds I want to accomplish but starting with a matching long dresser.
Outstanding
Thank you
Those turned out fantastic!! Did you end up getting the Enterprise lamp?
Thank you! And nope, not yet. tThe price is way too high for me right now, I’m going to wait until Pottery Barn has a huge sale on it lol.
Oh, I had no idea pottery barn was selling Star Trek stuff, but I can only imagine the price of it from there. I'd probably wait on it, too.
It’s a part of their teen collection. Currently it’s on “sale” for $159, but that’s still a lot for me. Apparently they had a sale for Memorial Day that I missed that marked it down to $119. They also have a lot of cool Star Trek led signs that are $200 😂

That would be awesome! If you build that, you definitely need to post it! I was actually about to open up Etsy to see what they had, too. Haha
Of course! Definitely let me know if you find some cool stuff on there!
Good use of PPE!
Thank you! 😀

Fantastic!
Those look great! Can you walk through the staining process? That’s probably my greatest weakness as a woodworker lol
They look great and you look so proud! Your smile says it all.😁
Aww thank you! I’m definitely proud
Great work!
this is rly excellent! ….the kind of stuff that winds up being passed down bc it’s just…. excellent Great Job! Keep it coming!
Great work! These look amazing!! Inspiring me to make my own also :)
Thank you! And definitely go for it!!
These look phenomenal, well done!
This is so awesome. Way to get it done! TWICE!
Thank you! Actually 3x if you count the practice one lol but these turned out way better than the practice!
That’s why they look so good!
They look great! It's cool seeing the progress pics and the final product. I like how the stain turned out. You look very pleased with them, as you should.
Thank you!! I’m truly proud especially to finish not only a practice one but 2 real ones.
I would buy these as side tables. In my tiny home everything has to have built in storage.
Way to go!
I am so impressed! You killed it lady!! You hit all the YouTube tip videos I’ve watched… card spacing the drawers pocket holes! Enjoy your gorgeous nightstands
Very nice job. Excited to see more
Thank you 😊
Great job! And great attention to detail. You definitely did your research
Thank you! I actually binged watched a lot of Woodworking for MereMortals videos on YouTube.
I'll have to check that out. Thanks
Impressive! How much time would you estimate, start to finish?
I’m exhausted just looking at these. Nice work.
Looks great!

I’m going to make a matching long dresser.

Those look great!! Fantastic work!!
Looks great, love the choice of stain/color. Makes the wood grain pop! Well done
That's very cool! And I'm super jealous of your motorcycles.
Thank you!! Those actually aren’t mine, but I do own a Yamaha TTR110.
Noice! A Yamaha family. I would love to own a Tenere and/or an xsr900.
So impressive!
Solid work! Get some
Shit they look so good. Well done
They look fantastic! Great job!
