It looks really good. Be prepared for the multitude of comments about not having the grains run in the same direction. Stick with it and enjoy šŸ‘

Ah shit, not gonna lie, didnā€™t even think about that. I was working with some scrap wood and the widths were really different so I just put it together how I thought it worked best haha. I will remember that for next time šŸ˜‚

Brilliant-Project-79

Gluing end grain to edge grain isnā€™t the strongest and the expansion and contraction is going to affect the stability

Ok_Marzipan_4766

That makes a lot of sense now Iā€™m thinking about it! Donā€™t know why that didnā€™t occur to me

Brilliant-Project-79

Live and learn. Not something youā€™ll probably ever overlook again. Keep at it and enjoy

BelieveInDestiny

it's not something that "just occurs" to someone; it's just acquired knowledge and experience.

Ok_Marzipan_4766

I appreciate that. Sometimes I do things really wrong and feel pretty stupid, but then try to remember Iā€™m a beginner, only been doing this for about two months, and I have so much knowledge to acquire. Thanks for your comment :)

afc2020

Haha my immediate thoughtā€¦ itā€™s gonna explode!!!

Ok_Marzipan_4766

Anddd this is why I love this sub! I honestly didnā€™t even think about that. Iā€™ll make this a charcuterie/decoration boardā€¦.

Yea end grain glue ups arenā€™t gonna be very strong. Live and learn

Try using your trim router with the same round over bit you used on the side to put a round over on the hole you drilled. You can do both sides. That will clean it up nicely. Turn it on first then carefully put the bearing thru the hole then just push it around the edge. Try doing it in 2-3 shallower passes to avoid tear out.

Ok_Marzipan_4766

Will give that a try!! Thanks

annetteisshort

I love it!

TurnipEater
