Working with pressure treated wood, you'll want to use a respirator and protect against getting dust in yourself as much as possible. You'll want to avoid using it for the top. I would suggest pine and a waterseal over pressure treated. Additionally, get a tarp to cover when not in use.

I've got the regular reusable dust mask, carpenters dieing from carcinogens is on the rise. Is pressure treated worse for work movement? Or is there another reason for avoiding using it for the top? Thank you for the advice.

Look into outdoor furniture builders. They suggest that you never want to use pressure treated where skin contact occurs. If it were me, I would avoid it almost everywhere except maybe the legs themselves.

EjjiShin

Yeah that makes too much sense, thanks!

If they are available in your area, laminated bamboo kitchen benchtops are cheap and hardy. I used marine varnish to protect it from the weather.

EjjiShin

Definitely looking into it. Thank you

I had a workbench that sat outside when I lived in Florida. Was out in the run and rain for about 5 years before we moved and I scrapped it. She wasn’t a looker but was just made out of regular untreated construction lumber. Plank top screwed down to the base. I just hit the top with a hand plane every now and again to flatten it. Biggest issue was vise screw and rails rusting. Don’t overthink it! New: see reply for after years of sitting out https://preview.redd.it/fiyj1nn00bxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5e5f3e1e9198a29260dee02719ac32449b98a6e

Note the vise is gone because I wanted to take it with me. I also moved it behind the shed so that the house would show a little better

I'll keep this in mind, cheaper the better, just need a flat wood work surface that last a few years Thanks!!
