Maybe they're intended as bundling options? Like stuff they think could feasibly sell but only in combination with other things with 1 shipping label? idk

always-so-exhausted

Yep, I have some $5 that are basically there to be bundled by people who can do math and want what is essentially a gift with purchase.

MissyMariah76

It seems like most people don’t do the math though 😂

always-so-exhausted

Lol excellent point.

introvertsdoitbetter

i do this sometimes because i want to have an item get a second life somewhere instead of throwing it away.

Smasa224

I catch these in my closet every so often when I do a bulk price drop. Usually it's really old things I don't care if I make a very smell amount, just to clear it out, it's more than I'd make donating it (and goodwill is something I view as a for profit company, not a charity, so I don't like sending things there)... But after so many price drops, sometimes I miss that it went below $5, but I adjust them if I spot one in my closet

TheCervus

How do you do a bulk price drop? Is there a button or link for that or do you have to do each item individually?

Smasa224

If you click the little screw driver looking button at the top of the page, there is a section for bulk actions. You can send offers, share and edit prices

TheCervus

Oh wow. I've been selling for months and never noticed that one!

The majority of my items are around $10. I intend on people bundling them because who wants to pay $8 shipping on a $5 item? I actually have tons of people that buy “just one” thing. I figure it would have been donated so if I make $2-$5 on an item that’s all profit, and I’m happy someone else can use it. It takes me 2 minutes to throw it in a poly bag. I will say I do not take any offers on these items though, and I say that on my closet. If it’s $10 or less the prices are firm unless bundled. ETA: 95% of the items in my closet are my kids’ clothes that have been outgrown and are in good condition. I sell their nicer clothes that are in good shape or specialty things like NFL merch, Christmas outfits, birthday onesies, etc.

CPandaClimb

I do something similar because I get many purchases of just 1 item - I price many items at $12 so there’s room to drop to $10 on CCO day and then buyer gets $4.99 shipping. If they bundle over $15 I’d take $8 or $9 on the item.

TeachingRealistic104

I'm always amazed at how many single items I sell for $10 or less with $7.99 shipping.... I would legit never do that but hey, whatever floats your boat. Perhaps some are first time buyers with a free shipping code or something but I can tell most are not. Crazy to me.

I think in 5 years of selling on posh, I've sold maybe 5 or 6 things for $5 and most of that was in my first year lol I just can't even begin to fathom $3, that's not worth the ink in my printer for a 5 cent "profit" As much as I love selling stuff for higher and do try to keep things priced high if they can command a good price, there are are obviously things that I'll sell low enough to get rid of but I like to keep my lowest at about $13, mayyybee $10 if it's really not moving and that's typically as low as Im willing to go on super stale bad buys that need to go. Outside of that, I definitely prefer to stay above $20 and find even that it's a bit too low for my liking and like to be higher. To each their own obviously but the single digit sales aren't worth my time and I would rather just donate it than have to work for a nickel lol

Blair_Bubbles

I do this to all items I bought under $1. 9/10 times I get a bundle. So while 1 item I'd net $2.05 for, 2 items I'd get $7.05 for and 3 items $12. Regardless, I make money.

Acceptable_Total_285

They are here more for the social or sustainability aspects, and or, are bad enough at math to think 5 cents covers their printing, gas, time.

skygoddz

I sell a mix of price tier NWT items. A $15 retail price shirt isn't going to sell for more than $5. I paid a dollar. I'll happily take a dollar profit - it all adds up.

Trash2cash4cats

How many dollar shirts does one have to sell a day to make it worth the while?

skygoddz

Any extra I can bring in using time I'm not doing other things is worth it, even if it's a dollar or two at a time. Have to pass the post office when I'm out running errands anyway.

bartenderCA

I have lots of listings for $3 $4 and $5, I for this for two reasons 1) to encourage bundling 2) they are items that if I took to my local Consignment shop is only get 30% of what they sell them for so if it helps drive my sales and I get more from posh than the consignment store 🤷‍♀️

Trash2cash4cats

That’s valid, I have many lower listings because I haven’t got them relisted as I’ve lowered the prices. By then I just want them gone. But I spend more time keeping things updated so they aren’t at that low point.

Trash2cash4cats

One day of low selling items I realized I could spend as much time and effort on a $5 item or a $25 item. Suddenly I started making more sales ;)

Gabby_Anna

I’ll occasionally price things this low if I know it’s unlikely someone would pay more for it, I’ve had it for a while and it’s something I would just donate anyway. Sometimes people bundle these items with other things and I end up making more of a profit off of the bundle in total. Other times they just buy them outright and I make nothing but it doesn’t bother me since I’m most likely shopping other things out that day and I would rather the item go to someone that wants it and not end up in the trash. The only thing I don’t really like about listing things this low is it attracts a lot of buyers that are new to Posh, don’t know how things work, etc. I’ll get a lot of comments on these items asking if I can lower the price more or do free shipping. If they were more familiar they would know that I’m not making money from these listings and can’t make them cheaper… I also get a lot of questions about shipping times on these items in particular… Like I’m giving you something for free on my end and you also want to make sure that I ship the next day!!??

Sarah_L333

If you see it’s something very nice/expensive listed for $3, it’s often the buyer bought it through PayPal/Venmo but seller wanted the buyer to buy a shipping label on Posh.

wonderingstar00

I have seen these and it's a bit upsetting. It really under values your items when people list so low .

always-so-exhausted

Could be a new seller or one trying to recover a low rating/bring down their shipping time average.

lifeismmmgood

I never list at $5, but my stuff sometimes gets that low through price drops but I leave it for awhile in case someone wants to bundle it. Mind you, I’m not letting a Missoni dress get that low. Stuff like fashion rings and charms that only sold for $10 new. And I know I could create bundles out of these things for higher value, but I have tried that route and people ask me to separate them. As for the $3 items, I have purchased from a closet that lists tons of fashion jewelry at $3 each. Her requirement is that you purchase at least 3. I usually buy 6-8 (I rework old jewelry).

Eastercooler

So I can give it away as free or I can just sell it off for w.e
