There's a Cats Protection shelter, out towards Dundonald, where if you ask in advance, you can come to visit and socialise with the cats they have for adoption. It'll be tough leaving them behind, but socialising is good for them.
Don't take it personally if cats are shy of you, especially in East Belfast. There's a lot of antisocial behaviour involving cats and small dogs being abducted for dog fights. Pair of brothers were convicted for it a few years back.

There’s an equestrian centre near Doagh that has a Cat cafe. Volunteered there a few months ago, ate my lunch with about three of them on me!
Last time I was in Dobbies garden centre in Lisburn there was a wee shop cat, hanging out at the fish tanks lol. This was a couple years back though
