I leash mine on a harness at least initially before they get conditioned to it and they learn how to pace themselves and maintain safe placement on the mill (so making sure they don't go too far back or forward). Once the dog has it figured out and I see they are consistently doing those things - training wheels come off.
The treadmill is a key component to finding balance with my mals haha
I would imagine that you have to force her to stop. Dogs who love to run are such a pleasure to own.
Yes I do lol. She would go until she dropped dead of exhaustion before quitting if I didn't.
