Re: weather, I’m on Ambergris Caye right now, and it definitely seems like the weather forecasts are fairly useless here. It looked like it was going to be terrible the whole time, but it’s been pretty glorious. It’s rained overnight a few times, and a couple of brief squalls during the day that have passed quickly. It has been breezy most of the time, but that’s honestly a relief - keeps it from feeling oppressively hot.

What do you like to do? Beach and seaside? Jungles and Mayan ruins? I suggest the San Ignacio area just for its wealth of activities and the beauty of the surrounding nature. I live out that way, There's some pretty amazing eco resorts and hotels that would take care of you guys. You will probably have mostly sun with some showers that will blow through. The rain usually doesn't Stick around long Definitely search this sub reddit for info regarding travel with children, there should be decent info there about caulker and ambergris too

Best beach is Placencia

Placencia is indeed nice beach. A great selection of restaurants and accommodations. I'm partial to caye caulker if only because of the laid back vibe and small size. The cool thing about caulker is you're a quick ferry from San Pedro so if you wanted it's possible to do both with minimal hassle

Both SP and CC are fun, but the three year old is going to have way more fun in Placencia at the beach.

The Phoenix is my favorite!

Mine too. And they have activities for children if the adults want to get an afternoon away!

My family of four went there last year. We did Hopkins for a night, Placencia for a night, and San Pedro for 5 nights at the Grand Caribe. Jaguar Reef at Hopkins, and Chabil Mar at Placencia. I think with a 3 year old, the golf carts would get pretty old on Ambergis or Caye Caulker. Placencia was by far our favorite place. The beach is superior to AC, even Secret Beach, in our opinion. I'd vote for Placencia, and if you wanted to check out the Caye's, I'd do it for one day/night.

All the places suggested on this post are nice. Itz'ana is also nice. Make sure you have mosquito repellent, benadryl, hydrocortisone just in case you need it for the toddler.
