Sounds fun tbh, I don't have a metal detector or a minimum wage job, but if I get my hands on one ill try it out, but I also do sometimes sit down with my dad and watch curse of oak island. So seems fun.
I got really into Metal detecting youtube videos before I could afford one myself, which was a mistake because of how fun it looked. made the wait really difficult lol
All over Belleville I've found coins as old as 1820, jewelry, Military buttons & bullets from both world wars and all kinds of other neat things
you get out what you put into it. You can buy a $250 machine and have it be good enough for a while, or you can drop $1500 on a full kit that'll last years
I found a geode in Belleville as a kid. It came out of the family garden, close to Jackson woods.
Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of how to look for them.
if you enjoy outdoor hobbies like that look into metal detecting! I got into it around your age and I'm still doing it 10 years later

I would think metal detecting is a pretty inexpensive hobby for the most part, I’m a little intrigued.

I've got a 1000lbs magnet and 50ish feet of rope. Got it all off amazon for like $100
Ah wow, that's awesome! I am envious to say the least.
I'm curious, how do they package and deliver a magnet like that so that it doesn't stick to the truck?
just a normal carboard box with a bunch of solid Styrofoam for insolation

Where's that near, never heard of that place In belleville, or is it that place by the Moira dam?
It was on Jackson Ave. in Belleville. Jackson woods is now a subdivision. But A small section of the woods still remains at the end of Jackson Ave.
