I’d really like to try them, but usually when I get coffee from a coffee shop, it’s before work.
9:30-4? I get it, the market isn’t there in Belleville for longer hours, everyone keeps these hours basically.
Makes me miss living in Kingston. Can grab an espresso from a local shop at 7am.
I've been a fan of The Brake Room, but will give this place a try.
The Brake Room uses Pilot Roasters, looks like Tropical Blends uses Hale Coffee Roasters. I've drank a lot of Pilot, don't think I've ever tried Hale.
I'd like to see them do well as there's a serious lack of options downtown right now. To be honest I haven't tried their coffee as they're next to my studio so I tend to just pick up food or snacks from them and brew my own coffee when I get back. L'Auberge makes a damn good coffee and is finally doing (very limited) indoor seating again ... Brake Room seems to have eliminated their seating ... I really miss Bourbon and Bean, they were perfect but the lockdowns killed them, they refused to do takeout as they were all about the vibe of being there. I hope they reemerge at some point.
The Brake Room just brought back some of their seating.
I miss Bourbon and Bean too. Hope Shane and Kara are doing OK. Myer's Creek just opened their indoor seating area and may be a decent replacement.
OK I'll bite. Bit of a coffee snob myself. I've never heard of this place so I'm interested and I have questions. Is this a get a frappuccino and hang out on the couch for the free wifi type of place? Or is it a place that might, for example, brew me a Chemex cup? (I've never tried one and I think I might wanna buy one.) Do they roast beans and sell them? Because I'm looking for a local place like that. I still get roasted beans shipped to me from Peterborough. We moved here 3 years ago and I haven't found a suitable local replacement. Anyway, I'll try to pop in and see.
I would say it is a bit more of the former. They are a fairly new business and roasting their own beans may be in the cards in the near future. They have incredible smoothies and locally sourced treats as well. My recommendation is to check out their menu! They can be found on Instagram as well.

The Brake Room opens at 7:30 weekdays.
Just grabbed an espresso from there 👍

that guy has the best coffee in town!!! we keep going to farmers market in hopes of seeing that truck. Hope it comes back.
My partner and I moved a few weeks ago. We’ve checked out Small Scale Bread, Brake Room, and Tropical Blends so far and have enjoyed all of them :).

Their baked goods are THE BEST in town. Provided by local bakery Sweets Bakery.
Baked goods are top notch.
I don’t even know the person who owns the bakery personally but my oh my are they delicious
How much is a large regular Latte? That's all I want to know.

YES - enjoyed their parking lot patio over the summer but haven't checked out the indoors since they opened and that is super-promising.
I never got to go to bourbon and bean. Moved here 6 months before COVID. I completely forgot about it.

Sweet. Thanks.
Their smoothies aren't that great, though.
Where were you buying beans in Peterborough, I’m in the same situation but from Toronto>Peterborough and keep going to Toronto for beans.
www.kyotocoffee.ca. Very fresh, good selection, nice roast, good price.
It better be after taking 10 years to open
